  1. Wonderful! I did a couple of tests last night and it’s working just as it should, many thanks!
  2. https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3610489&postcount=30
  3. Looks like this has at least been improved with today's OB update. Ships wake no longer looks like a staircase, though it's significantly shorter and much harder to see from any appreciable distance. Honestly I can't speak to if the short wake is more realistic or not, but really glad to see the 'barber pole' effect is gone.
  4. Well I got them pretty fluffy earlier. Then I tried to make them appear just for your screenshots and they got a little shy. Still there though.
  5. Those Overwing Vapes... ...look absolutely fantastic!! Well done guys!
  6. Whenever I update I immediately do a cleanup, repair, delete fxo and metashaders, and then computer reboot. I’d suggest doing those things first. I know there have been recent instances in these forums of lost key bindings being fixed just with the reboot. If none of that works then go nuclear like NineLine suggests.
  7. Apparently there are no shortage of difficulties being encountered: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3603548&postcount=1321
  8. Im not confused by it, but one need only look in these forums to see that a lot of people are.
  9. It felt like ED intended to do it right but just kind of gave up on the idea. After stable was released the OB was getting regular hotfixes and updates for awhile. Stable was getting much less frequent but more, well, 'stable' updates. It was kind of working, in a disorganized way. But since we're all basically on the same forum, and the whole process has been extremely poorly communicated and segregated, there was a huge amount of confusion about who's getting what and when. Still is, honestly. Now we've switched to the weekly alternating updates and the whole Open Beta/Stable thing is super redundant. As far as I can tell OB is here just to catch any CTD's that might have slipped through the actual beta testers. It's a whole lot of confusion for very little benefit imo.
  10. Thanks for the update Grimes. I'm sure it was intended as a performance-oriented tweak but this has been broken for more than a quarter of the year now. And yes, it's really bad when flying with optics but it also needs to be addressed when using the old Mk I eyeball. Factories, power plants, etc. should be easily visible from much greater than 20km (like they used to be). It's especially noticeable on barren maps like PG and Nevada.
  11. Are you entering missions directly from Mission Editor? If so, the prompt is currently misleading in that it tells you to press "No" to discard your changes and continue. The changes aren't discarded and you will enter the mission with those changes intact. But the changes aren't saved either. If you actually exit the mission AND mission editor without deliberately saving the mission then only the previously saved version will be available from your missions list or when you re-enter the ME.
  12. Dang. I opened this thread hoping ED announced a new focus to fix their abominable Anti Aliasing. :( But I agree, A/A is obviously their current focus and JHMC will be an awesome addition.
  13. I’m of two thoughts on this. First, it took a full eight years from the time the community knew that the Hornet was in development to when we finally got early access. (I don’t even remember when Hornet was ‘officially’ announced.) Back around 2011 I thought we’d have it by maybe 2013-14. Clearly this was a grossly optimistic estimate. Also, a lot of the core sim updates we’ve been getting this year were actually planned for release back in I think 2015. To be honest, DCS development is quite a few years behind even ED’s presumably conservative estimates. My second thought, though, is that now that 2.5 is out we’re FINALLY see the fruits of all their labor and a heightened release pace. And there should, in theory, be a lot of Hornet knowledge that will transfer quickly to Viper development. In the end, yeah, I’d be totally surprised if we got a Viper by next year. I’m personally expecting it in 2020-21, but that’s what I thought back in 2011 too. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (And none of this is meant as a swipe at or criticism of ED. They have extremely ambitious goals and what they’ve been able to accomplish so far is simply mind boggling. Speed bumps are to be expected!)
  14. An anti skid braking system provides improved stopping distance as a secondary effect. A simplified description is that the system is ‘threshold braking’ much more effectively and precisely than an average person can. The primary purpose of anti-skid, and ABS in cars, is to maintain directional control under heavy braking. There are plenty of examples of skilled (professional) drivers being able to achieve better stopping distances with an ABS system disabled. All that said, I definitely feel the F-18’s brakes are too weak with anti-skid enabled.
  15. Impressive. Finally a tip that brings a noticeable improvement! I wasn’t suffering before but I can now turn mirrors on and low-fly around Dubai. Prior to the firmware update even with mirrors off central Dubai would bring the stutters. (I don’t have numbers, stopped chasing FPS a long time ago. I’ve never even opened the FPS window in DCS 2.X. But the firmware upgrade definitely smoothed over some known problem areas on my maps.)
  16. Just a side note, the TACAN Y channel is currently bugged (again). I haven't run across any pre-made missions using Y but if you do, or you're building your own, Y channel is broken.
  17. Track deleted. Here's the crash log, minus track. dcs.log-20180809-014440.zip
  18. TACAN Y channel is definitely bugged.
  19. I'm not really interested in the Yak at all, but seeing that pretty old Super got my blood moving. Yes please!
  20. Bolek is correct. You can click on any unit on the map (except statics I think) and view it with its corresponding F key. F7 for ground, F9 for ships, etc.
  21. Of course you would agree. ; ) As unlikely as it is that we'll ever see a Taiwan theater, I'd also personally love it! A really interesting geography for all land/sea/air operations. Nice presentation!
  22. Hey guys. My first CTD in a really long time. After every update I always cleanup, repair, and delete metashaders and fxo. No mods on current install. Attached is the log. EDIT: Soooo, the crash log is 10.1MB and max file upload size is 9.77MB. Suggestions?
  23. If I'm not mistaken, stable and OB should currently be in their 'merged' state as of this morning.
