Sorry, but after reading all 6 pages my mind is a little bit on info overload.
For the Index, besides the SteamVR menu setting for OpenXR, do we need to add the start parameters to our shortcut to try OpenXR?
Hey guys.
Just snagged an open box Asus TUF 4080 OC for a decent price and I hoping that you could share your nvidia control panel preferences. I'm moving from an Asus TUF 6900xt and need an nvidia refresher. Thanks on advance.
I use the Free Flight because I can see the resource hits of the cities vs the open water just by looking left or right. Then I can test any LOD/spotting improvements by flying towards and joining the 2 Spitfires that are headed toward me, and once I join up with them I can check on any ghosting of the other aircraft by doing a few aerobics around the AI.
I'm slowly gathering parts to build my son's first PC. He already has inherited my 5800x and will get my 6900xt when I finally break down and replace it...
Saw this HMD pop-up alot during CES coverage. Looks promising.

Here's what Bradley Lynch had to say about the CES booth experience.
I love my 6900xt and with price what they are it looks like I will be holding on to it a bit longer. That said if money was no object and I was upgrading I would have to go with a 4080 or 4090 for VR based on previous performance disparities between nvidia and amd when I comes to VR performance. If I was looking for pancake gaming then I would be looking at 7900xtx partner cards like an Asus TUF oc.
One of the few sites that does testing of GPU'S and VR has this to say...

As much I like AMD, I have to agree. While the two cards have over all similar performance, nvidia does a superior job with VR. Hopefully some day AMD will take a look at VR and make some improvements.
Did a little digging. Asus has not released the new bios for the Crosshair VIII mobos yet. Currently there is a beta version that includes the return of the curve optimizer, beta version 4303. Hopefully it will be officially released soon.
