  1. I disagree. The AMRAAM can be easily spoofed.. It's far from a one shot one hit wonder. But these day's the players in MP become better and better and only take shots that have a high probability of a hit. Most of the time i don't even need to fire defensive shots trying to force the bandit defensive. Only against other F-15's. The SU-27 has to fire early to try and get you in the defensive. But that means their hit rate go's down. Also the SA in the F-15 makes the tactics you have to perform more clear and F-15 pilots actually work together. A lot of times there is maybe only 2 to 5 people on the red Team Speak while there are 8 to 15 players on Blue Team Speak. And even than the red Team Speak does not talk to each-other or only talk general stuff that has nothing to do with the flying on that server. 99% of the time i fly F-15. But today i flew SU-27. And i got 3 kills and got in a fight with two F-15's in one flight. If i would have had a wingman it would go even better. I suck in flying the SU-27 so you should be more capable than me and score some kills. So to get more kills in the SU-27 you need to get better SA and fly with a wingman. Suddenly those missiles won't be that bad anymore. Check my latest vid on my Winchesterdelta1 youtube channel and you see it's not all that bad. The only thing bad is me :)
  2. Just played with the SU-27. had no issue's finding and locking people up with EOS and Radar. Only killing them was a bit harder. I even found a EOS target and locked him up at 70KM. But that was probably the B1B lancer flying Recon on the 104th server. But it does seem to be a bit harder to lock people up compared to the F-15. If they are far and low it seems it takes a while to lock them up with radar. You have to try several times.
  3. I fly the F-15 mostly because of the SA in that plane. Not because of the active's. I could do without the actives if the SU-27 had the same SA as F-15. In the F-15 i know what plane i'm engaging so it's more easy to choose a specific tactic for that threat and it's easy to see even without radar how much planes are coming for you. AMRAAM's is just a nice extra tool.
  4. WHAT IF you guy's just released all these model addons for the public to have fun with as well like in ARMA :) Makes me sad you people keep some of them for yourself ::crying::
  5. Thank you for the pointers. I will try to think of that next time.
  6. Maybe not blame the players for this kind of air quake behavior. Give us realistic missions with proper distances. Planes to escort. Mission planning. Dynamic events. Infrastructure to attack or defend, convoy's to attack or defend and transports/bombers to attack or defend, with high threat area's you need to patrol so you can defend your assets. Maybe also advancing ground units. Until we have no real objectives with meaning, objectives that are dynamic and when achieved it helps to win the "war/Conflict" most people will be playing air quake. Or just simply disable re-spawn in the missions we play now. Right now the target area's of the A-10's and other ground pounders are somewhat away from the fast jet fights. Make a frontline.. Or make the main bases primary objectives. And for the ground pounders to reach it they should use AAR. Now everything is just bunched up and we only escort A-10's and SU-25's when there are people like me harassing them on purpose for easy kills. Not to protect our assets. Than we can talk about more realistic behavior. Right now we just make our own fun. Most people like me are flying for hours. With no diversity i have to challenge myself with unrealistic goals. If we stop doing that there will be not much players to fight against cause it will be very very boring to play a non dynamic mission with no real objectives and win condition for a couple hours. Now with the MIG-21 we can do even strikes more far away. Instead of only destroying vehicles make the bridges, factory's, dams, EWR and airports targets as well. Put some defensive units around it and voila you will have a more engaging and realistic mission people want to work for to complete or defend the objectives. I'm getting pretty tired of this air quake argument because there is nothing done to make make players interested in actually doing realistic missions. Whooptiedoo lets defend Bullseye again and the occasional SU-25 or A-10 asking for help. Also if airfields are primary objectives we should be able to select from witch friendly airfield to take off from with a drop down menu instead of Aircraft slots. But that is something for the people that develop the GUI.
  7. It seems i'm the worst gunfighter in DCS community. I think i need some practice. But missile dodging is another story.
  8. I think you are not understanding him. He simply asks why his IR missiles keep missing. He never talks about the missiles behaving unrealistic. Maybe if you explain him why, he gets a better understanding about when and how to fire them instead of being so harsh to him. To come back to your question i have to say i don't know. If i fly the SU-27 it's against human players. If i lock them up on close range they start to flare pre-emptive so i just wait a little. Or when head on i just shoot the missile knowing it will probably miss. But it might set me up for a good position because he still has to react defensively. But yes you might want to shoot the missile from the AI his rear aspect when super close. Not at the missiles max range.
  9. Yup hold the lock button buddy.
  10. All the pilots i fly with on the 104th use TWS. I even actively ask them or confirm with new pilots on Team Speak to use it. But engaging MIG-21 is sometimes different. Because when you see him he is most of the time very close and hard to keep lock in TWS. So i switch to vertical scan within 10 NM. Also MIG-21 can for some reason easily defeat AIM-120C. Probably because lower radar signature (don't quote me on this). So if i see a MIG-21 i try to shoot it with AIM7 or guns. First i track it in TWS not to scare it, and when close switch to STT or vertical scan to get that Sparrow going.
  11. As a new starter i would choose F-15 as well. But i have the same opinion as Stuge that you should try the SU-27 and the other fighters as well. SO you know how to defeat them. And you will learn to defeat other F-15's more easily as well. And despite everybody say's the SU-27 is better in WVR and close in i think its a little exaggerated. I will merge with a SU-27 any day. Especially when the F-15 is low on fuel and you don't forget to drop your fuel tanks. But merging with another F-15 is a pain in the b** in my personal opinion. But watch out when merging with a SU-27.. those off boresight shots are beautiful and very deadly. But just keep your hands on the flares and hands of the burners at the right time and it should be manageable. Most of the time you get shot down by a SU-27 is because you don't see them. Not because you merged with them. Unless fighting Stuge :p
  12. They are there for recon purposes. But actually they are just there for immersion. You can escort them and try to protect them. Would be nice if they would actually drop bombs on some infrastructure targets also just for immersion.
  13. WinchesterDelta1, F-15C, Netherlands, 4 hours.
  14. WinchesterDelta1 Netherlands Lonewolf F-15C Eagle
  15. Yup you can find them. Recently i found Mustang with his KA-50 on accident actually, hovering with his friend. Killed Mustang with AIM-9 and turned around for his friend. But he disappeared. Probably scared :p Just scan really low with your radar and you can find them up to 40 miles. But you need the general direction where they are operating.
  16. That was some amazing info. Can i come over and give you guy's a big hug. And i might give you guy's even a little kiss if the F-18 will be done before the summer :D
  17. DCS F-15C is the same as the FC3 one.
  18. I know some great EOS tactic for F-15 pilots. When you have locked a SU-27/SU-33 or MIG-29 and you know he is in EOS (No radar signal from the bandit) put your engines on Idle and glide in. In most cases he is not able to lock you when you are still more than 8 miles away from him. He has 2 options. He can run or he can turn on his radar and give away his position to other aircraft and buying you some time. But most of the time it's to late within those ranges. This tactic can also be used for ET shots and other IR shots. I noticed you can get very very close flying head on when dispensing some Flares. in 90% of the cases the missile will miss when you counter it with flares and maneuvers. Be sure you have the speed to afford this kind of tactic before you apply it. It's fun to see them struggle. But don't attempt this when they have their radar on. Unless you know they have fired a IR missile you can shortly go idle and dispense flares at the same point. But when coming in from a high alt while they have EOS on, just glide in and get the kill.
  19. Do a repair. I had something similar.
  20. Open the editor. place a aircraft of your liking on the ground or in the air. Make it playable. And start practicing.
  21. Hmm.. My experience with the AIM-9M is pretty good. I always take 1 when flying the F-15. And that one almost hits every time i shoot it. I always try to shoot it in between 2.5 and 1.4 miles. Make sure the target is not turning to sharp before firing and lead it. And if you are firing head on you have to make sure the closing rate of the target and you is not to high. If so you have to time the shot more early. But i always fire it against human pilots not AI.
  22. There is a extra button for wheel steering that lets you make tighter turns. I think it's left CTRL or left SHIFT + S. But i'm not sure.
  23. I was thinking the same. First it seems impossible and it will frustrate the hell out of you. Than after a couple months you come to understand the dynamics of flying the F-15 or any other plane in DCS. And you will finally see result. These last 4 months more and more online players became considerably better. So i approach every bandit now like i'm flying against 104th or 51st guy's or any other super good pilot i know off.
  24. Some people turn ECM in in the middle of a fight to confuse the attacker when it's hectic with multiple bandits. I think they do that because they know most people won't go lock a ECM target when that close because they think that ECM signal probably comes from a bandit more far away. I have been tricked like this multiple times trying to look for a solid contact on my radar.
