F-16, low, and even lower.
EscCtrl replied to Force_Feedback's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Is that in germany? there was a similar one there with an F4 and they all lined the end of the runway just waiting to hop on the plane or something :P those guys are nuts (the bystanders not the pilot of course) though id love to do that! -
Thats a thought - after hours of flying on lomac I have not once thought about motorways or multi-lane roads. Guess i love the countryside atmosphere :) never got round to completing that tour either let alone the second one.
-
Mine isnt for sale BUT you could research how to mend it properly before opening it up if it concerns you that way you'll know what to do - chances it you wont break it by taking a look any how - worst case scenario is it might be a bitch to close agian in which case get someone else to do it. meh

X-52 PRO - Out in November
EscCtrl replied to zaGURUinzaSKY's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Probably still not worth an upgrade form the X45? On second thoughts... * 2 dedicated MFD buttons and 2 rotary dials with in-built buttons to control additional game functionality * MFD displays data directly from games, including Radio Stack info from Microsoft Flight Simulator 9 and 10 * Software Development Kit included for creating game-specific programs to interact with the MFD * Choice of red, amber or green button illumination * lluminated buttons and MFD - ideal for low light environments * Throttle unit illumination varies depending on throttle position * Enhanced MFD backlighting * Improved cable management system More than half of those 'key points' are based on the awesome illumination LED options!! haha -
Maybe - its up to the server - say you're doing free flight or some kinda fun server than it should be there - or if you're doing an easy battle or training because not all of us are pros! my opinion anyway

ED please make a little more PR noise
EscCtrl replied to zaelu's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
To be honest I like the community as it is - yes im all for getting more people on the game servers and more people buying the game so more money for ED so a better game (assuming they dont just pocket it :P) But really i like this community feels more like its 'OUR' game not just a game as for the incorrect information yeah sort that out :P -
the speed is still 207 and probably gonna accelerate through parachutes maximum force capabiltity (the force it can hold before being torn off - or speed in lomacs case i.e. 250) but yeah i see your point :P
-
Dont compare to a parachute falling down as thats being dragged downward by gravity the whole time - whereas a plane landing is slowing and braking anyway plus there are the frictional forces of the tires anyway and the chutes for aircraft are designed differently. my thoughts anyway, i think it is realistic.
-
I dont think the fighters are getting any major changes if any let alone new weapons - even if they were the aim9x wouldnt be in the list as it is of the wrong era. Hope that helps
-
Yeah both and bristol and imperial are on my list :P but i'll probably only keep 2 or maybe 3 on the final entry form (6 maximum) in case my grades arent too good (quite likely my teacher thinks) So I now know which club i'll be signing up to at uni then! thanks
-
GCSE grades are fine for me btw - i have 2A*s 5As and plenty of other grades so no worries there :P Yeah eyesight and moral issues did put me off when i was younger (starting to remember more of why i havent gone for it!) still worth a try though espcially if they can sponsor me for university to do something like aeronautical engineering (perfect situation) I realise there are plenty of oppurtunites for aerospace engineering and im sure id be accepted somewhere - but right now i have my heart set on Bath university annoyingly enough as its a tough one. probably just a phase though. From what i hear it doesnt really matter where you go as long as you've studied. As for the moment Im accepted and sign the 15year contract (or whatever it is) then they turn round and tell me to get in the nimrod yeah thats when i'll run away to Columbia ¬_¬ By the way DPS what is the UAS? is that a department of the RAF? thanks
-
Anyone here in the UK worked in the RAF? whats your experience of it? Have no idea what I want to do when I leave sixthform and just thought maybe its worth a shot - never used to want to join purely 'cause i hated harriers and tornados :P but now have no real reason not to try. Also could anyone link me to the ACTUAL requirements - espcially height (being 6'2"+ im not sure if i'll even get past the first hurdle) the official RAF site is useless to be honest and i want up to date information. its either that or trying to get into aerospace engineering and being predicted straight Bs (my teacher said he'd be surprised if i EVER got an A) its going to be hard getting an AAB it would seem. Never worked it my life which really doesnt help at this stage either ¬_¬ thanks in advance

Its only an alpha - yes when i saw that horrible tiled grass (with lack of vegetation) I suddenly though oh great ¬_¬ but really I think thats only to just fill the otherwise empty gap for the moment - by the way look at the hills in one of those pictures its perfectly rounded unlike many (or all) flightsims at the mometn which are jagged and angular. just my thoughts anyway

Is that at the north end of Finland i.e. the border between the Fins and Russians? I swear thats the same location as the infamous collision between an Su27 and NATO orion plane that occured from the pilot getting far too close for comfort? (am i right) and are you hinting they could be working on releasing this as a new location? would be great if they are!
-
It might be the camoflague skin that is making it look confusing and difficult to judge? it does look like it could be mishapen but that might only be because you have mentioned it that i think that or it could be the camera viewpoint on lockon like theres no sense of perspective or over done perspective hard to describe what i think i can see. do post a wire frame though would be better to know sooner before lots more work goes into it.
-
Seems to me its NOT animated! check the screens there are only two poses - one of the launch/aim (standing up) and one of some preparatory stage (the crouching pose) shame if that is the case.
-
When I saw that video i was told they all survived even though if you look carefully you can see a troop jump/fall out of the chopper near the gear at one point.
-
Scrap the 2GB of RAM thinking I might just settle for 1GB of DDR2 RAM - that will still be good right? thanks
-
Ok I'm finally going to get my own 'gaming' rig (as opposed to parents choice in PC which is for homework only - its a miracle LOMAC works at all ¬_¬) I've verified my choice so far on certain other PC sites to get a feel for whats good or not (im a first time PC builder so havent got much clue what im doing) but most of these sites only care about the FPS on FPS gmaes, so yeah i need helping choosing a mainly lockon computer choice so far Intel E6400 Asus P5LD2 deluxe (think thats compatible with the proc.) Sapphire X1900XT Corsair DDR2 2GB (the cheaper corsair stuff i can get) As for these main components how will the run on LOMAC? im on a bit of a budget and getting an E6600 and X1950XTX (or anything above an X1900XT) is a bit much for me at the moment. This will be an upgrade from virtually nothing so any improve moment in system will be welcome. thanks in advance

how is aircraft as low as 1ft ASL (at sea level yes?) unrealistic? I thought they proved ground effect not be able to stop an aircraft flrying lower? I have seen videos that show jets fly at only a few feet above the ground.
-
exactly - and you can get jet boats too and last time i looked the jet wasnt angled that far into the water either I still think you would have to fly very low to get much of splash - even when choppers fly at 100ft its not that noticable as i found this summer
-
Yeah I know! if they can do a dust trail on the ground surely they can have a modified water wake - and even though some people dont believe it happens it does when the jet is pointed into the water at close proximity say when pulling up from a very low altitidue run.
-
ok ive never played this game (let alone heard of it) and it might be the worst flight modelled game ever but still the atmosphere created by having crew on the carrier deck and air traffic looks great in my opinion - hopefully in a few years ED will have the tech to do this alongside an awesome flight model http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3VeVLbUWGrs&mode=related&search= game is called 'Over G Fighters' on Xbox 360 apparently

Just wait for the day full scale simulation rooms are available to the average home just like the ones used to train military pilots. Think that would solve it though impractical by the way isnt the periphal vision such that it detects movement but only in black and white? Its the rods of the eye as opposed to the cones that pick up the light hence in the dark when only rods are used (more senistive i think) everything is black and white also the periphial vision can detect frame rate better e.g. look at a computer screen it looks fine look at something to the side so the screen is in the corner of your eye and you can see it flicker!

Should I get a force feedback joystick?
EscCtrl replied to jib's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Scrap FoRce Feedback and go for something like a Saitek X45/52 if you look around you can get them for less than £40 thats what a lot of people here have and i certainly wouldn't change it for much else
