  1. Probably me misinterpreting what has been written, but to use the analogy of pushing or pulling a three wheeled pram (front wheel is free castoring), you can stop it with the wheel in a turn position but when you apply equal force (push/pull) the wheel itself is pulled straight by the friction and weight and the pram moves in straight line rather than holding the turn. for some reason, this is the logic my brain is expecting after executing a full stop and then reapplying thrust. hence the boggle
  2. just trying to get my head around the tail wheel behavior. Read in a few check lists that you should "taxi forward a few feet to straighten the tail" which makes sense, and have experimented/tried it a few times, coming to a full stop in a turn, then powering up again to see if the the AC travels straight. When power is reapplied the AC continues in the turn that it was in and doesn't "straighten after a few feet" the only way i can get it the AC on a straight path is to apply opposite rudder / brake to the yaw movement till its on an even keel. Am i crazy or just doing something wrong? (first part is rhetorical)
  3. It's been great to "see" so many new faces on our server and some epic missions that have been made by our very talented and generous mission builder. We've gone from a campaign series, to interdicting dirty bombs to defending fire base Mary Ann from the NVA and the VC. If you're interested in quality banter, great missions and good laugh with a bunch of Kiwi and Australian Legends, hit us up. one simple rule...DBAD
  4. reading the manual it says that you can put the gear lever to neutral if you suffer hydraulic failure, is this modelled? cant find a key bind for it and the lever will not stop in the neutral position with a mouse click
  5. it would seem that this is not resolved in 2.7. some great damage modeling, but WW2 aircraft seem to just keep on trucking in spite of it all.
  6. Anzac day mission coming up. Respect to all past and present service people, lest we forget
  7. i've had reflections off glasses, UV logos on sports gear, sun sneaking through a crack in the curtains, light reflecting of windows as a source of TIR bounce / random movement. The UV logo on the under armor shirt was a doozie...
  8. viper is half baked and can be frustration, tomcat has more polish but Jester is half baked (IMO) and can be frustration. both are great modules and pits look great. might come down to do you like FBW or stick n rudder work? either is a great choice and neither is easy, they're just different.
  9. I can understand that this is relevant to a flight approaching from the same azimuth or general direction> This particular instance the noe flight was on the SA battery's 3 o'clock and the launch was on a flight from the 6 oclock aspect with over 40 miles of separation. The manual seems to confuse rather than clarify (EA i know) : If a symbol has a flashing circle around it, it indicates that the radar is supporting a missile that has been launched at you. When being launched on by a radar-guided missile, you will hear a missile launch tone and the LAUNCH light to the left will illuminate. hence the question, is the RWR only picking up the general energy state change (radar wavelength iguess) or is it A/C specific.
  10. which is what i thought, this is the confusing part.
  11. had a mission where there there was 2 f16 NOE ingress to a target with an SA10 site protecting it, RWR in the viper picks up the radar system, the lock and the missile launch warning. both vipers go defensive and into a notch and managed break lock.....however...trackview file shows that the SA10 system was tracking and launching on entirely separate target/s in the opposite direction....I'm trying to understand if the RWR differentiates between a launch on ownship (for lack of a better term) or just locks and launches in general. insights appreciated
  12. this was from a while back. in the pilot lua
  13. has this behavior been introduced recently? tankers have never called "return pre-contact" in previous versions and you could disco/reco at as much as needed with the viper aar
  14. thanks, i thought i was going crazier. Good to know I'm not the only one experiencing this
  15. had some time to investigate. looks like a keybinding issue in regards to toggle switches, and the game sensing that they were in the off state due to the position of the switch on the hotas throttle. Clearing the binding from the throttle was the answer
  16. Was trying out some of the IA for the 47, BFM, High aspect BFM, Bomber intercept and in each mission the aircraft starts with the engine generator (the switch under the gunsight gyro illuminator rotary) off and the guns are either not firing (though the AC is configured for combat) or there is no ammo loaded. Have tried some of the missions from the p47 missions list and they are functional. Just seems to be the IA stuff not working for me. Am i going crazier or have others had/having a similar experience? have run repair twice now with no change.
  17. antenna scan elevation is the usual culprit for that
