Feedback Thread F-14 Tomcat - Update 10th March 2023
IronMike replied to IronMike's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Our apologies that we still haven't published it, we've been neck deep in developing tasks the last couple weeks and did not get to it yet, we hope to publish it soon. -
Last 300 feet are just compressed. As mentioned before, trapsheet is still just a throw and glimpse at a feature that was never really planned and never really finished, we just left it in, because it is still nicer to have it than not to have it, and helps at least a bit with visualization. don't take it too literally or seriously though. Maybe one day we find the time to finish it or improve it.

Thank you, we'll take a look.

Has nothing to do with interest, and also is not a maybe. We will do a Navy variant, as we said.

Feedback Thread F-14 Tomcat - Update 10th March 2023
IronMike replied to IronMike's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
I've hidden all of that, it is absolutely not necessary. Calling out members on what they thought about or not, is not ok. Neither it is ok for everyone else to get into the quarrel. You will be able to control it, which has been said numerous times. Putting together the jet to your very own likings includes not having any forge elements. It has been said several times now, so continuing to press the matter and calling stuff we do "junk" isn't necessary at all. Please be kind to each other and please remain courteous in your feedback. I will also repeat one last time, that whether you like it or not, does not define how Tomcats were in fact. Us giving an option, is a courtesy to you. Forge was announced at the pre-orders already, so this argument that you paid for a clean aircraft, sorry, is moot. You paid for the most accurate representation of a Tomcat, which includes that "junk", and on top of that you will get an option to manage it on your own, which is beyond what we initially promised.- 158 replies

If you mean on cold start, it had always had to be selected.

You cannot really make out objects beyond that point, so slewing beyond that is unrealistic. You can with qwaypoint, but that doesnt mean you would find a unit there at a large range. Surface render also does not mean "distinguishable objects", though I didnt check how it is in ED's targeting pods, and dont want to comment on that, as I have limited knowledge on their rl counterparts. But the older the pod, the worse the resolution, the lesser a realistic range to really spot anything. So having Jester be able to slew to a specific tank at 50nm, would kinda equal cheating. -
That would basically equal almost like leaving it on random, else I dont think this will be quite possible. Downside of random will be with in mission spawn sets though.

Floating canopy mirror when canopy of the F-14 is open
IronMike replied to Ilias6ty7's topic in Bugs and Problems
It is tracked indeed. Thank you. -
It won't be a toggleable option as much as being able to put together your favorite elements, tie them to a livery, and then have that combo for said livery, and you can have as many combos for as many liveries you like. At least this is somewhat as we plan it atm, so it may change a bit still, until then take it with a grain of salt please.

Thank you for your very kind words!

That's a whole other thing, which would require a helluva lot more than just graphical changes. A newer HUD simply was not found in the A, A+/B at all. You would only see a sparrohawk HUD in the B/U (upgraded B) and later a Kaiser HUD in the D (to simplify it a bit). It would be very unrealistic to have a newer HUD in the A or B even. Additionally, just making a new HUD is not a thing you can do just quickly on the side. It is months of work, because you need to connect everything that interfaces in the HUD, weapon modes, navigation modes, etc etc... But the main reason remains: newer HUDs were not seen in the A and B, and thus even if feasible timewise, will not happen.

Tape was also something used by pilots themselves, though not sure if in regards to the buttons popping out. But we know from some pilots that they would tape switches to have a more haptic feedback of what is what, or tape up lights that would distract them, etc... The upside of tape is that it can be applied by anyone at anytime, with practically zero effort, and removed just as quickly.

It seems it didnt delete properly, so it will be in until the next patch. But de facto both versions are SC now, so if you want to be safe, play the non-SC version.
