Do you have some valuable Statistics, or you just guessing? If you base on personal experience then I'll base on mine saying that 100% DCS players play mostly online, since Offline is no really an alternative. I'm not sure if ... ED knows what are true numbers. Mine word against yours sir. that is one Two: In Digital Combat Simulator - (I suppose title suggest that Game has something to do with aerial warfare) - seeing a planes around you is something important. I don't think that Zakson is overreacting. Statement comes from yt video based on another yt video based on .... It's not valid source. Statement, that "90% of our users!" - is not the same as 90% of DCS players. in fact it may be some very small number.

Definitely. Both modernisations are performed in purpose to extend service of outdated planes and give them capability to fight against modern gen 4 fighters. From my professional point of view - waste of money. just like Italian modifications of F-104. useless for aerial warfare of '90-2005 but surely not suited for scenario anytime in '60-'70 -'80. Great for War thunder... and only there. AiM-9X+AiM-120 vs AiM-9L+AiM-7F/M (there's strong discussion about F-16C bl.25) T/W ratio 1,4 vs 1,05 (0,98 for early F-16C) . Difference between old F-16 and new F-16 is huge. Old one is gen4 fighter and new one is gen 4+. Fact. F-18C is much closer to F-18A, but avionics is main difference. IMO Situation Awareness of F-18C is much better than in his older brother. Facts are that F-16 modelled in DCS is not suited to any CW scenario. MiG-29 / Su-27 are much closer. I think it's main tragedy of DCS, that we have very modern F-16CM bl50 and F-18C , instead of F-18A and F-16A/B bl.15(ocm or not) or F-16C/D bl. 25 Anyway.... Stick to the MiG-21 gents.

I would rather say barely cold war. Wasn't used in any conflict until 1992. and after wikipedia: It's last huraaah!. Not the main stream plane as we see in most scenarios.

The production Su-27 (sometimes Su-27S, NATO designation 'Flanker-B') began to enter VVS operational service in 1985, although manufacturing difficulties kept it from appearing in strength until 1990. "The devil lies between the details" F-16A - yes , it's pure CW plane. Very modern for the time F-16A bl.15ocu from 1988, would be perfect adversary for MiG-29A. F-16C bl.25 from 1984, very late CW and very needed. But armed in AiM-120 and AiM9X F-16CM in DCS ? Nope. Very far past that era. F18A - Cold war plane, Eldorado Canyon was serious combat operation. Operation Prairie Fire was key part of it. I'll never deny. But F-18C - it's first serious action was Desert Storm 1991 (according to most historians it's last year of cold war as such). Not a cold war plane Su-25 - that one is true late cold war plane. my only problem with it is, that it's main area of operations was Afghanistan. rather one sided campaign. For middle east conflicts, Vietnam war conflicts, India vs Pakistan conflicts - we need different birds. The same case is with A-10. First combat use 1991 Persian Gulf. MiG-29A - some very limited numbers of cheaper versions of that plane (with downgraded avionics and radar from MiG-23) saw combat during later stage of Iran-Iraq but Saddam bought them not sooner than 1989. Their first serious action was... Desert Storm 1991. So - however MiG-29A was king of the sky of second half of '80 it didn't saw true action during cold war, except Farnborough Air Show ;-). Using them in every possible cw scenario is pure fantasy. one may use F-15E, B-1B, B-2, Tu-160 etc. if we follow that logic... Bollocks. Su-27 - officially entered service in 1990. CCCP collapsed one year later 1991. Before that marvelous plane truly entered service, (pilots need to learn new plane, new tactic has to be developed etc. etc.) CCCP collapsed and cold war was over. It's not cold war plane, but it's rather last hurrah! of CCCP aircraft industry. So.... Do you realize that none of DCS plane you mentioned is actually cold war era combat plane?

I'm ready to pay 2x as much for proper MiG-21 FAMILY made the way how Heatblur did their F-4 Phantom II MiG-21F-13 MiG-21FL MiG-21PF/PFM MiG-21SMT MiG-21MF MiG-21R MiG-21bis both variants (face lifting. new 3d new Flight model, new damage model, exactly modelled systems). Stop neglecting fans of Cold War era aviation. To be honest... MiG-21 family vs F-4 Family .... Mi-24 /Mi-2/Mi-8 vs UH-1H/AH-1G/CH-47C, solid portion of A2G attack planes of both sides + that what's promised F-104, A-7, A-6, A-1 ... and I'll forget anything else exist in dcs... F-16? F18? MiG-29? A-10? Su-25/27/33....? “Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn.”

First : are you using 2 profiles? One as Dev and one as one of us - poor suckers who bought semi-fidelity MiG-21bis? Second: You copied and pasted almost the same post as last year, shame on you. you post the same nonsense again and again: Having realistic (is it?) startup procedure is 1% of what one may expect from Full Fidelity module. But even here are bollocks. Every MiG-21 (or any other jet pilot) will recognize it . During startup procedure EGT shows simple bollocks. thermodynamic of double shaft jet engine is characteristic. Behaviour of engine of MiG-21 isn't modelled in any way. it's War Thunder lvl. more throttle - more thrust. It's not DCS lvl of realism. PS. In these training mission Magnitude mixed 2 procedures: preflight check & startup procedure. Those are very separate things in MiG-21. 3. SAU not working properly, 4. ARU not even in slightest way working properly, 5. Radar much to efficient at low altitude, 6. Strangely modeled elevator behavior at high altitudes (over 15 000m) pulling hard with ARU in manual mode set in position "Take off" (strangely it's also the same position in "Auto" mode on these altitude) gives slight, gentle turn with about 2G. 7.If you pull 8,5 G crazy ARU may cause exceding G to over 10 and brake your... Wing tips (sic!) instead of bending your wing, but it's ok. You can fly (and land) MiG-21 without wings anyway. FM and DM is rubbish. 8.Other case is gyro sight - switch positions give different effect as expected: in pure Gyro mode only 300m range works as expected, auto ranging works different as expected (based on original flight instruction), A2G mode - shooting unguided rockets with rdr ranging and gyro gives also wind correction -> way too acurate, A2G bombing sight is a pure fantasy. It gives you precise hit point for FAB's with wind correction. 9.A ballistic table For manual bombing with various dive angles and sight deflection angles doesn't exist. 10.MiG-21 Cluster bombs are able to kill every server since I play DCS, Letherneck / Magnitude never attempted to correct these issues. Engine flames out after exceding 1300KIAS which is a total fantasy (and explanation given in DCS manual is made-up total fiction. It doesn't fit liquid mechanic, or jet engine behavior). Speed shall be limited by loosing longitudinal/directional stability and there is a proper description how it works in real MiG-21. And "the devs " are well aware about it. Modelling a proper behavior is too much effort i suppose? Engine flame out (due to over-speeding) is pure fiction (and a lie). how it shall behave I posted here: 11. RSBN!!! 12.ARK!!! Polish language is my native language so I had those opportunity to read and learn MiG-21 from it's original manual. Number of bollocks put into Magnitude made semi - fidelity module is revolting. Except flight manual I possess Original Air Dogfight Training program for polish AF , 2 parts combat deployment manual and MiG-21R combat operation manual. Even manual Magnitude made is rubbish...

W oparciu o podrecznik R.Shaw "Fighter Combat" prowadzimy w eskadrze serie zajec teoretycznych i praktycznych z zakresu zespolowej walki mysliwskiej. Cykl zajeci (i podrecznik ktory powstaje przy okazji) nosi nazwe "Nie ma mocnych". Ponizej przykladowy odcinek. "Thach Weave". --------------------------- In squadron we conduct a series of lectures and practical exercises about team aerial combat, under a common name "there are no strong ones" ("nie ma mocnych") about team aerial combat. Here's example lesson. "Thach Weave"

For me as a fan of Enigma CW server (RIP) and Blueflag / Buddyspike CW server, I see a need of light Russian made helicopter. Any given scenario of 1970-1980 is unbalanced. UH-1H vs .... what? Mi-8 is way too big, much more powerful and outclass UH-1 by far. Gazelle way too small, and having UH-1 on both sides is no option, Mi-2 would be perfect. I see a problem and possible solution. Plus Mi-2 is just as legendary as UH-1... if not more.
-
Problem stays even if I choose no smoothing at all, and no Anti aliasing at all. Problem doesn't seem to be graphic connected. If I host small skirmish of 6 planes for friends I see everything perfectly. Problems start after I add some more ground objects. It's not Anti aliasing or any other type of smoothing connected problem.

Dear Aerges Can you please change whatever guns we have now - to DEFA 533 , 30mm revolver cannon? When I flew MiG-19 - his old NS-30 (also pair of them) were able to destroy a bridge. Targets like T-55, M113, BTR, BMP , Bradley - were easy job for them. Air targets ? 2-3 hits were able to kill A-10. F-5E, or Viggen were 1 shot targets. Compared to them, our BB gun is a joke. our 30mm isn't match for Mi-24 gun, or MiG-19, or AJS-37. Damn... it doesn't even work as well as 23mm GSzU of MiG-21. Can you please check firepower? Can you add some various ammo belts? My best regards Green Ugly Fellow

DCS MiG-17 Interview on Enigma - Know What to Expect

I can't describe how important these issue are for Cold War planes. It's the biggest turn off if you join the game and can't see a thing. It's ridiculous especially by work with GCI. GCI -"Contact 1 o'clock over horizon, 10nm" pilot -"No Joy" -"1 o'clock 6nm" -"No joy" -"1 o'clock 3 nm ... you're about to cross in 3...2...1" -"Tally!!!!" and they both can't see each other, and it's DCS everyday issue, on every bigger MP server. Sad. Please make it a top priority. -
I always admire French pilots! Salute. I remember "Patroulie the France" in Deblin in Poland. I was there. Biggest formation, great show. Beautiful Alpha Jets. As for Mirage F-1CE. During early preparations to fly module (first 2 months - various manuals reading, gathering informations, learning cockpit layout) I noticed, that drag chute deploy speed (210kt) is bigger than landing speed (~150-170kt), also there is some well made, double wheel main gear, soooo.... My first thought was how about trying to land it just as I did my MiG-21bis? It works and it's way easier to perform here, than on "21", where landing speed is 360kmh, td 330kmh, and chute deploy 320kmh. As for landing - it looks rough, but precisely performed is quite soft and provides some advantages by landing on unprepared RWY: -precise flare performed at bit higher speed (and on opened throttle) allows to go around even in very last moment. -provides bigger safety margin during DOL landings. (shorter decc., go around available until very last moment) -after td plane immediately "glues" to the ground, unlike during normal landing. -no risk of "baloon" or "bounce landing" ... looks cool, and cpt. Pit "Maverick" Mitchell can't do that disadvantages: -requires more practice, and experienced pilot -however gives bigger error margin, it also means, that error will be more destructive. -surely not for every pilot and not for every plane -not recommended by cross wind. Requires good weather conditions
-
In RAF maybe. But Polish/Russian/Swedish/Hungarian/Czech Air forces fly a bit sharper. No offence. It's (DOL) standard operating procedure for short landings. DOL - Drogowy Odcinek Lotniskowy (Road Air Strip roughly speaking). Watch and learn: Varius Air Forces.

Dear Sirs! Don't want to be rude or something but having All the helicopters without Mi-2 is a bit like eating Mustard without sausage. Some say, that module in DCS is a ultimate monument for a dying vanishing vessel. These small bird is worth immortalizing. Please support me guys in it.

Hallo Various sources tells about Mirage F-1C being able to carry AS-30L laser guided missiles, and Exocet anti ship missiles. Are we going to become them someday? My best regards!
-
Thank you for meritoric response. I shall test better before I came here. Yesterday we tested it furthermore. And I can only agree and confirm. Plane feels different, but it's probably a result of different steering authority. In every way we (in squadron) agreed that we need to learn the planes new behaviour. It will be nice. In the end... we like to fly any reason is good About AUF-2 - Great news. Thank you! My best regards
