I have searched here and in the tech support forum but have not found a solution to an issue I have with TIR in DCS A-10C just yet (so, apologies if this has already been covered, but I did try!): I just got Track IR 5 (and I love it, don't know how I ever did without it, highly recommend it to anybody reading this, etc., etc...) but cannot get the alternate key assignments I set to stick when I start flying the DCS A-10C. I created a new profile in TIR, assigning the Up Arrow (tried Scroll Lock, too) as the hotkey for the "Center" function, saved, and tested fine using the TIR "Visual Preview". I start A-10C and delete the key assignments for all of the arrow keys, save the profile, and go to fly. Once I am in the cockpit the TIR Center function is back to the default F12 assignment:helpsmilie: I also set the Profile for the DCS A-10C in the TIR "Titles" list to be the new one I created, but once back in the cockpit the Center function was still mapped to F12. I know I am missing something very fundamental here, but somebody please lay it on me - it's a minor inconvenience but frustrating because I've already spent too much time fussing with it instead of flying!

Thank you, Furia, this will be a very nice addition to DCS A-10C for me. The CDU is capable of a lot and can hold a large number of waypoints and I think this is a good use of those slots. I can rationalize by thinking of them as GPS coordinates for known navaids. I do hope that that the NDB function of the radios will become useful in future patches as well. Some really creative people are starting to come up with great missions and it would be great to integrate your navaid waypoints into them. I hope they will consider using your template going forward.

No jet, whether a lumbering A-10 or nimble F-16, can fly blithely into a SAM engagement envelope and expect to survive. At the very least it takes lightning-quick reflexes and the pilot going completely defensive to make it out alive. It is clear in reading the excellent “A-10s Over Kosovo” (Haave & Haun, 2003) that the A-10 pilots had a healthy respect for even the mix of older air to air defenses fielded by the Serbians, and relied heavily on air superiority and SEAD (or “DEAD” as the F-16CJ pilots liked to refer to them) to keep them safe as they prosecuted their ground targets. No jet can do it all. Air combat requires the coordination of air superiority, CAP, SEAD, ABCCC , and other support elements whether the strike package is an A-10 or and F-16/18/22…

Which is what StrongHarm's original post was all about. With the explanations of MGRS in this thread I think I can now more easily, and certainly more quickly, relate a grid reference to a spot on the map.
-
This has to be the most concise, easy to understand and dead-on accurate explanation of the MGRS I've come across. Thanks, effte, for taking the time - I am sure many a DCS Hog pilot will benefit from your effort.

+1 Love your training packs for DCS BS, Dragon, but due to travel and logistics I am often relegated to flying solo, especially for training. If even a subset of the ones you do for DCS A-10C would work for SP I will be grateful...

Very nice, Paul, and much appreciated. Will definitely start using your checklist next flight.

What EtherialN said; CCIP computes the weapon impact point on the ground, not necessarily of your target...

Really great work, Shu - adds yet another layer to my enjoyment of DCS A-10C...

Very nice - thanks for the effort!

Excellent - thanks, kylania! -

I am very jealous reading all these posts, and while I can afford it I cannot find anyplace to buy!! I search the Internet daily, but everybody seems to be out of stock - does anybody here know of any place with the HOTAS Warthog available (preferably in the USA)? -
Thanks for posting the vid - every little bit of instruction on this beast helps!

Were you flying for a long time (maybe Oxygen supply ran out)? Was the flow light cycling? Random failure? (Check caution & warning panel)
-
The main reason you want to avoid overflying your target is that they are rarely alone and what's left might very well have significant AA capabilities.

A10C IVS (Instructional Video Series) - by Tyger

Let me add my thanks to the well deserved pile - very nice work indeed! -
Yes, I agree, and am surprised to find that DCS A-10C uses UTM. Does anybody know whether the RL A-10C uses UTM instead of MGRS?
-
Very cool video, and a very nice landing, kylania - thanks for sharing!

Interesting - not that I doubt, but do you have a reference, forex from one of the RW manuals? It's not like ED to leave something like this out, and I would say that it's probably WIP except that I find no reference to it in the DSC A-10C manual either...

I have not discovered any fuel planning information in the CDU like you find in an FMS in commercial planes. One way to calculate, of course, it to divide your total pounds of fuel remaining by your fuel flow - result is the number of minutes of flying time you have at current throttle, altitude and configuration. As flight parameters change, of course, YMMV :)

Page 397 has a little to say on the subject: AIR. Program to counter most air-to-air radars. SAM1. Program to counter older-generation SAM systems like SA-3, SA-6 and SA-8. SAM2. Program to counter newer-generation DSM systems like 2S6, SA-16, SA-11, SA-10, and SA-15. AAA. Program to counter radar-directed gun systems like ZSU-23-4 and ZU-23 / Dog Ear.

The latter - see this thread...

Jammer program is selected using the CMSC panel just under the HUD. AFAIK there is no "program" position for the JMR switch on the CMSP (the manual says placing it in the MENU position puts the CMS in TEST mode - but I'm not sure what this does).

I think this is a great idea, Geskes, and I see nothing in your post that compromises the security of military (or any other) personnel. As I 've posted elsewhere, getting missions simulating actual, real world and contemporary employment of the A-10C adds to the realism and immersion I get from DCS - the perfect compliment to the detail and realism ED has put into the sim itself. I look forward to trying your mission.

Disengaging NWS is an easy step to forget - I have certainly done it more than once
