  1. I'm constantly snapping wings off my tomcats by pulling too many Gs in the vertical, which must be something because I've heard Grumman test pilots say in interviews that they were amazed at how many Gs the wings could take. So, I'm starting to wonder if my stick curves are the problem. I had been running a basic +25% pitch curve for a while, zeroing the curve out has helped a little, but it still happens easier then I'd like. Does anyone know of a good curve that works?
  2. I have an X56 with a 3d printed detent, I set mine to a slight curve toward the top so that the detent lines up with the AB.
  3. It uses software that was provided with the button, it's the same program shown in the description of the auction and that's basically all the documentation I have, so I have no idea if I can change the timing.
  4. I have a programmable HID button set to send a LeftCtrl+E macro when pressed, it works fine in all of my aircraft except the Hornet. I'm wondering what might be different about the Hornet to make it not accept that command. I checked that tapping LeftCtrl+E on my keyboard 3 times does work in the Hornet, and as I said, this button works in all my other planes, so I'm not sure what is going on here. I got the button on EBay and it came with very little documentation, and it's from China, so I can't count on any support there. Anyone have any ideas? here's a link to the EBay page: https://www.ebay.com/itm/142922652172?_trkparms=amclksrc%3DITM%26aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160908105057%26meid%3D5d54aebf689c4d5dbceb30bb2e30d8e2%26pid%3D100675%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D15%26sd%3D142922652172%26itm%3D142922652172%26pmt%3D0%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2380057&_trksid=p2380057.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci%3A79e34af4-6756-11ec-9789-46683a3e2110|parentrq%3Afda7b04417d0ab97d1ba355dffebf094|iid%3A1 As a side note, does anyone know how to override the push 3 times requirement in DCS? I tried programming the button to send the macro three times, but that didn't seem to work.
  5. Enjoy your spot at the top of the greenie board. All I can get are cut passes and bolters, no matter how good I line up. Stop laughing Jester!
  6. I had a similar issue with the ATC, it would turn itself off as soon as I released the switch. It turned out that I set the toggle to the AUTO else BOOST command by mistake.
  7. The Forrestal looks awesome, just a couple of quick nitpicks after my first landing attempt. I flew one of the F-14B Case I approach Instant Action Missions, although I wasn't paying attention to which map I was on. The runway lines are all but invisible from any significant distance, especially since the mission seems to be in the early morning or late afternoon, again I didn't think to check the time of the mission. Also, on this particular mission, one of the static Tomcats was parked too close to the forward end of the angle, I crashed into it after I boltered. If I run into these issues again, I'll try to remember more specific details.
  8. I think what they're saying is that the flap lever is redundant. AUX flaps are binary, either full up or full down depending on the handle position. MAIN flaps are incremental, but they can also be controlled with the DLC wheel and function automatically depending on the AoA. Personally, I'm keeping my flap lever though.
  9. Judging by the F/A-18 liveries we have, ED has already solved that problem. The Hornet can use several different dynamic modex placements depending on the livery, and the typeface is as simple as calling a different texture with the appropriate characters.
  10. Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures, but I suggest that you do what I did, deliberately induce a flatspin, and then either switch to the rear cockpit, or set the pilot's HSD to repeat the TID
  11. In a video on his YT channel a few days ago, Mooch mentioned that the RIO TID had a spin recovery display, so I checked the RIO pit during a flatspin, and it does indeed display an arrow indicating how to exit a spin. It occurs to me that it would have been extremely useful for Jester to have told me about this arrow, so I don't have to check the RIO pit while I'm trying to focus on spin recovery. EDIT: I did just find out that it is repeated on the pilot's TID repeater, but the callouts would still have been handy.
  12. Cool, I was wondering that myself. I was curious if the IIAF cat would be a good stand-in for an early USN cat. That's all specific to the IIAF order, not Block 90/95 cats as a whole, right? It's interesting that Grumman didn't consider them a separate production block from the USN orders.
  13. I think what gets me is the fact that I'm turning my whole head and still trying to focus on the fixed screen with both eyes. Also, I get carsick really easily.
  14. I can already look around with the POV hat on my X-56. It does have a ministick though, does it work differently from the hat?
  15. Does anyone have any advice for keeping track of a bandit with the POV hat? I can't seem to move it fast enough to keep a bandit in sight in BFM, and I can't use my TrackIR because it gives me motion sickness.
  16. and he needs a cup of coffee to spill on himself when I buzz the tower.
  17. You can still use the stick and throttle, it just decouples the ACLS so you have to land manually. Even if you are using the ACLS, you should be fire-walling the throttle as you come over the ramp anyway, the autoland won't do that for you.
  18. this may have been to fix the desynced wing sweep bug it had a while back, where joining an F-14 in the RIO seat would cause the wings to instantly unsweep and hit the plane next to you.
  19. before you ask, they've already nixed the AIM-92 ATAS, as the version of the AH-64 that is being modeled was not equipped for it.
  20. I posted about that when they first added the feature, and there response was that if there's too much fire, the extinguisher won't be enough to put it out, so chances are your fire was too big. While I'm here, is there any update on the static Over-oversweep bug?
  21. one would think that because the missile has 6 phoenix channels it would be able to handle 2 sparrows, but I guess it is an older missile.
  22. I can also see a specific User Files Search as being useful. It narrows the search a bit by eliminating threads and other pages that mention your search terms. On the other hand, the big mods like the A4 all have threads on the forums as well, with links to the files.
  23. I just finished an hour long hop in the Hornet in the PG map, and I noticed that the flight time was logged as a night flight despite it being in broad daylight the entire time. Looking further at it, I realized that while I hardly ever fly at night, I've logged more night hours then day hours. I think the night and day hours are switched in the logbook.
  24. Thanks, that worked, I did a cursory search but I guess I didn't see that thread. I also figured out how to reprogram the OSB options, which works too. I also see that there are some fundamental issues with the A-10C II training missions, I'll have to keep an eye out for other problems as I go.
