  1. I've noticed in my game that tomcat has an annoying habit of wanting to roll to the right if I start flying it after having flown the Huey.
  2. Not quite, it won't have LANTIRN or the TCS.
  3. That was added in the A+ to reduce the chance of flatspins should you lose an engine.
  4. It's bad enough when the default modern USAF pilot ejects from my Tomcat, with the wrong seat and helmet, and F-15 patches. I would love correct to aircraft pilots.
  5. that happens to me all the time. I'll spawn in the six pack, and two starts moving almost immediately after I do. If I'm not fast enough, he'll cut me off before I get to the cat.
  6. Yeah, it was originally cobbled together to give navy aircraft a better standoff attack capability during Desert Storm. The Skipper II was a glorified Paveway bomb with a rocket stuck on the end.
  7. No offense, but are you sure you're not missing some basic step, like turning the radar on? Just the other day I posted about an issue with HARMs, that apparently came down to making sure I Sensor Selected the correct MFD. Perhaps if you posted the track file so we could see exactly what was going on? To reduce variables, try setting up a simple mission with some bandits directly ahead at various ranges.:joystick:
  8. every time I've done it the ATC automatically goes into the Case I dialogue, you don't have to do anything but respond when needed (See you at 10, Call the Ball, etc.).
  9. most US keyboards do have two windows keys, it might just look a little different from the normal windows icon, probably looks like a menu or something.
  10. I did notice that with the SC installed, Tarawa's tower uses the Super Carrier comms procedure and LSO.
  11. I crash too much for that. Also, see my thread about how pilots die if they eject over water.:smilewink:
  12. the hornet has the benefit of a digital fly-by-wire flight control system. It can hold higher alpha because the computer will adjust the surfaces to keep it flying. Eagle and Tomcat on the other hand, are dependent on the pilot's reactions, but a good pilot can still make 'em dance. Which is exactly why the Iranians fly Tomcats instead of Eagles. They did a fly off, and the Shah was more impressed by the 'cat.
  13. What is the criteria for earning medals for your pilot in game? I've just thought it's a bit funny that I've had this game for less then a week and it somehow my guy has enough medals to make Chesty Puller jealous. I wouldn't even say I'm that good, I haven't even tried any of the serious combat missions or MP yet.
  14. hmm, I don't know the Fishbed in particular, but I think in most planes they assume that if you have the gear down and you're at low altitude, you are either taking off or landing and therefore want to be there and don't need a distracting alarm. However, you would expect the test function to still work, why else would it be on the preflight?
  15. I could do that, with a POV hat I don't really need them anyway.
  16. Yes! I didn't realize just how spoiled I was by the Progressive Taxi in Flight Simulator X until I got this game. Even if the ATC gave directions (ie. Taxi to runway 27L using Taxiways Alpha, Alpha 2 & Bravo) that would be a huge plus. Airport charts are really helpful though, thanks. :pilotfly:
  17. I ended up following one of the LUAmacros tutorials, it mostly works. The only problem is that DCS reads both the LUA programmed macro and the original keystroke. which apparently comes down to the way DCS reads my keyboard interfering with the way LUAmacros reads my keyboard, and according to the LUAmacros dev, the problem can't be fixed. Fortunately, the numpad keys are mostly view commands, so it just jiggles my camera around a bit when I type stuff into the UFC.
  18. They don't want you to leave before some folks from HAVE DOUGHNUT can fly out from Groom Lake to take a look at your plane.;)
  19. I definitely second that request, but I would settle for treading water, or an inflatable life preserver.
  20. I found a 10key keypad that I was hoping to use to emulate the UFC in the F/A-18 and F-16, but it looks like DCS doesn't recognize it as separate from the regular full size keyboard on my computer, as there isn't a separate column for it in the controls settings. Is there a way I can force DCS to see it as a separate device?
  21. I just bought the Hornet and the Supercarrier, so I've been playing around a lot feet wet. In the process, I noticed that if you eject over water, the pilot just sinks under the waves and the log records him as dead. There isn't even a splash. This doesn't seem like it was intentional, especially since pilots aren't killed when they eject feet dry.
