  1. If you look through the SP missions for the Hornet, towards the bottom of the list will be a bunch labeled "Supercarrier" such and such, these are essentially copies of the normal Carrier missions with the Stennis swapped for one of the Supercarrier ships.
  2. What does it mean by single- or duel engine AB? Doesn't the tomcat have an asymmetric thrust limiter that prevents the pilot from putting only one engine in afterburner?
  3. Not an SME, but I've found that the Tomcat actually handles a little better with no curves at all.
  4. Thanks. I switched from using a HOTAS button for binary flaps to using a lever axis (I have a bunch of Saitek pro throttle quads for multi-engine in MSFS), having a physical lever that shows the flap position helps a bit, now I just need to train out the leisurely cleanup I'm used to doing on climb out and my timing of bringing them out in the break.
  5. I'm sure someone will put that on a hellfire when we get something to use them with.
  6. The Tomcat has a separate catapult launch command, it doesn't go on "Salute." IIRC, you can find it in the same controls category as the catapult hook up command. I'm not sure why Heatblur went this route instead of using ED's command.
  7. Jester automatically puts the radar in TWS-Auto when you select Phoenix if you don't already have something STT locked
  8. Can anyone can give me some tips on avoiding jamming the flaps? It seems like every time I do a cat shot since the flaps were changed, the right inboard flap jams in the full down position.
  9. "Four wire, and you didn't break my neck!"
  10. just to be sure, you're looking in the Open Beta folder, right?
  11. wait, so your problem is that you lost sight of the bandit? What does that have to do with TrackIR? If you're talking about how jumpy the view is, that is the TrackIR losing sight of your clip as you turn your head too far. You can tune that out by adjusting the curves so that you don't need to move your head as much to look behind you. (this may also alleviate some of the motion sickness if you have that problem) Don't get me wrong, I've had a long running email conversation with NaturalPoint regarding my own problems with the system in DCS, but it doesn't look like you're having any of those problems.
  12. Interesting, if TopEdge is accurate, there isn't really a substantial difference between the early block -135s and the block -95 Persian 'cats (aside from the stuff they removed for the FMS). At least the block pages didn't list any changes. I'm guessing that the gun vents and the ECM fairings were retrofitted changes, rather then stuff introduced during productions, because I didn't see any reference to those on the block pages.
  13. I asked this a couple weeks ago and was told that they do work, but only on small fires.
  14. yeah, the Early vs. Late nomenclature is a bit misleading. In fact the -135GR is one of the last blocks before they retooled to the A+.
  15. I should point out that internationally, more flight demonstration teams fly the Viper then the Hornet anyway.
  16. I would love to see the ability to put airshow smoke on the viper, like on the hornet. I know there are mods for it, but AFAIK they break the IC.
  17. I've noticed the same thing. I've also had trouble finding the targets and tracking planes on radar in the air-to-air training missions, which tends to get in the way of completing the missions, plus I'm convinced that some of the triggers are either broken or too easy to trigger inadvertently. On top of the mission bugs, the training missions are rather limited in scope, presumably because they were added early in development. We need training on more of the advanced features, like the T-pod and the HARMs.
  18. here's a mod livery for a UAE viper: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3308711/?sphrase_id=266177
  19. I agree that it needs more airfields. It's been pointed out that no one plays this map in MP, but I think that it's because all of the airfields are bunched up together around Vegas. If some of the other bases in the area were added, such as Fallon (which is on the map's ground texture), then you would have more distance between bases and potential safe havens where planes could take off without immediately being shot down by the CAP over Nellis
  20. I'm sorry if this has been asked before, but just to clarify, this doesn't effect existing missions, right? This is just for adding AI to user missions?
  21. I've heard that you can change the location of your Saved Games/DCS folder to save space on your C:/ drive. How do I do that? Surely it's not as simple as copy/pasting the folder to the new location, right? How do I tell DCS where to find it?
  22. Screen caps taken from your computer rather then a camera might help. Also, does this happen other times you use the cat, or just in that mission? Try doing the SC Cold Start mission instead of the one that starts you on the cat.
  23. Stupid question, but how do you even take screencaps in DCS? I checked the input settings and the keybind is apparently locked as "SYSREQ," which doesn't exist on my keyboard.
  24. this may be a MAK-79 issue. IIRC the bombracks used for the mk-82s on the tomcat were not actually used in service because they had separation issues in testing. Try dropping with a longer interval, or try using the larger bombs that mount directly to the phoenix racks.
