  1. Cool, maybe I should have my crew chief hack off one of my stabilators. Less drag. :) I'm sure that this will be corrected.
  2. Sounds about right to me. With your right stabilator missing the plane should roll a bit to the left when you pull back on the stick. Other than that the biggest thing you should notice is it being harder to increase pitch, especially at higher speeds.
  3. Actually, you missed the fact that our brains do not have HDMI ports. We are not trying to replace our physical eyes, just trying to create an image for us to look at. I understand the concern about immersion. Immersion is fun, but for people like me too much immersion can be a bad thing. I need to remain aware of my surroundings because things come up. But this is not mainly why I prefer labels. As I said before, I have poor eyesight and require very thick glasses. I do get eyestrain sometimes while playing, especially when trying to scan for enemies that might be trying to ambush me. Bottom line is, I do need artificial help to see things in game. Maybe it will be different with EDGE, I don't know. I hope a labels system can be made so that some pressure can come off of me and my eyes, and I can enjoy the game more. P.S. I hope that nothing I said or say seems insulting. I am quite blunt at times and other times very sarcastic. So if I do sound insulting, I apologize.
  4. How can you judge distance with smart scaling? Your judgement will always be off because you naturally compare your knowledge of the size of the object up close with how it looks right now. For example in BMS, I can't tell how fast I'm coming in to the tanker because the tanker increases in size very slowly up until I close to a certain distance, after which it blows up like a balloon and I slam into it. This can be adjusted with smoother scaling, but it will still be difficult to judge closure. On top of that, who wants to see an F-16 with a wingspan twice as wide as a taxiway sitting on an airfield? Personally, I believe that the best thing to do is creating an advanced label system. Not the same as seeing the object I know, and probably still won't let you tell the aspect, but see above. With the way things are now, if you can't see the target's aspect at full zoom then it won't do you any good at the distance you're at from it anyway. Labels would also allow you to see the target at the right distance no matter your monitor resolution. Labels overlap and get confusing, but if the targets are that close together you can zoom in and see all of them at once anyway. If you don't have time to point your eyeball and hit the zoom then you're gonna be dead pretty soon anyway if you don't get out of there. Just some things to think about. Either way I hope something is done about it. It doesn't help that I have bad eyesight either. :sad_2:
  5. View settings for the F-86 are in the F-86 folder, yes. Possibly because it's still in beta. I believe the maximum/minimum FOV settings are always in server.lua now.
  6. Sorry, but I can't help laughing. :megalol:

    Labels wish

I really wish we had a better label system, because I can't see anything without them unless I know EXACTLY where to look. In a dogfight I might as well turn around and go home. I know you can edit the distances they show up, but they still show through clouds, at night, and even through the bottom of your cockpit. I wish ED would implement a system that takes into account these kind of visual conditions, possibly even the size of the object as well. This way I'd still be able to spot things without having a God's eye view of everything. Ideally they wouldn't show as red or blue either until you're close enough to (in RL distance) identify the type of plane at least. I know you're supposed to use AWACS and sensors, but the Mk I Eyeball can never be replaced. Just a wish. I can live with just modifying the distances if I must.
  8. G. They have it set so your head position moves with the gear. No way to keep that from happening as far as I know and it is kind of necessary so you can see where you're going when you're landing. I don't think there is one. There are a lot of functions that have yet to show up in the controls, we'll have to use the mouse for now. Question about rocket employment: I found a switch with a red cover to the left of "rocket jett ready" switch, but this switch is not mentioned in the guide. Is it a placeholder or something? The guide says we need to set the "rocket intervalometer switch" to 1 or 9. Also, I don't know if it was just my dive angle being bad or something, but I can't get the reticule to give me an accurate rocket impact point. The reticule instead seems to act like it's electrically caged the entire time the function switch is in rocket. One more thing: I'm not entirely sure that the "aim selector key" or "Radar Target Selector Button" (Enter key) is working at all.
  9. We'll I don't know if just got skilled up (as what usually happens after I complain about something being hard) or the conditions of my mission were different or something, but I recently did a few successful refuelings. Still a pain in the rear to do, and I do have a good stick. I discovered that texaco takes it upon himself to decide, without telling me, that 10,100 pounds of fuel is enough for me too. If I started over that amount however, he would top me off completely. I haven't fully tested refueling with tanks yet so I don't know what the deal is there right now.
  10. Air-refueling the F-15 has become such a pain in the - for me that I don't even bother anymore. I have to be in the exact perfect position for the jerk to connect, and if the tanker is turning he won't connect at all. And when I do finally get connected, I lose it if I hit a red light. Isn't the red light just supposed to warn you that you're close to the end of the envelope, not mean instant disconnect?
  11. I have a theory but don't have time to investigate whether it has already been discussed right now. I think that once you start slewing the seeker head it temporarily disables ground stabilization until you stop. So if you're not pointing the seeker straight ahead, the delay of the slew rate acceleration would cause the effect that you're seeing. I guess the maverick is not capable of maintaining ground stabilization while slewing the way the targeting pod can.
  12. You do that under the axis commands menu, not under systems or aircraft control or wherever the key commands for wheel brakes are under.
  13. I am lucky enough to have a GTX 770 2GB.
  14. I used the slider on my X52, delt with the jerking by training my thumb to find the sweet spot that stops it. Now I use the ministick on my CH throttle, scripted so that holding down button 4 (my shift button) enables the stick to manipulate zoom, releasing 4 leaves the zoom where it is.

    Russian HOTAS

I would not. The Russian sticks are designed the be gripped at an angle, which would interfere with my side-stick setup.
  16. First ever? http://aviadef.com/eng/printarticle.aspx?magid=47&artid=179 I shoot laser guided rockets from my Su-25T all the time. Am I missing something or are they trying to pull something?
  17.
  18. Looks better this way.
  19. The same problem exists for FC2. With game avionics BVR radar does not work. I tried it in the F-15 instant action missions, the enemy could shoot me from 20 miles away all day long and all I could do was shoot maddogs.
  20. Did you check outside to see if the rudder was moving to the left?
  21. I remember hearing about a bug that makes it so you have to toggle out of and then back into automatic mode for it to work on either radiator. Try that maybe?
  22. If he's flying supersonic he should lose sound at the front of the plane, not the rear.
  23. Cool! Thanks for the info!
  24. I have a few questions: If you STT lock a bandit and then send a 120 his way, would there still be risk of the 120 going after the wrong plane? If no, would you be able to launch in track while scan and then switch to STT before the slammer goes active and get the same result? Is it to be my understanding that once a 120 goes active there is no way to change its target? And finally, how to fly?:smartass::pilotfly:
  25. That made me:megalol:
