Today I was using TrackIR and the sun shone through my window and screwed up my tracking (checked the software and it was red all over, picking up the sun). If my TrackIR receiver were a SAM, and my head an A10, then that sun coming from behind a cloud could've damn near saved my life. True story.

Cool, sort of defeats the object of having both JDAM and laser based bombs. Must be very accurate!

Congrats mate. RoF has almost no learning curve regarding systems and avionics but a significant learning curve in terms of dog fighting and flying! I would say doing those steps you have undertaken are an excellent base of knowledge to be built upon :) You're now in a position to really enjoy the simulator. Next up? A2A refuelling, NOE flying and popup attacks, multiple bomb drops in a single pass, target acquisition and identification at extreme range, committing to memory the various RWS symbology and effective range of said symbol, and extensive study of the CDU for additional nav skills :D The sim only gets better from here!

You will need to make a spi as it has no beam to chase I believe.

Looks beautiful. I've no idea about programming etc, but I sincerely wish our sims looked like that :)

Any concise info regarding targets and weapons?

Thank for you for links :) When're we getting Nukes? I want to level the Caucasus region and force them to give us new terrain! Hah, cheers! -
Hi all, Wondering if anybody knows of anywhere that has some concise info concerning weapons, for example GBU-(whatever), range, gps guided, most effective against....CBU 87, range, guidance, most effective against - That I could print out. Basically I am trying to perfect my weapon knowledge and want a small reference without looking to the manual. If not I will make one myself! Also, are there any lists which show enemy types (with similar stats) and a photo of how they appear in game through the TGP? Target acquisition is a big problem of mine atm. Hope you guys can help :)

The "clickable" mouse-look of Ka-50 - future patch?

Apologies for terrible grammar... Mobile device! -
The "clickable" mouse-look of Ka-50 - future patch?
Conure replied to Herbie.no's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Surprisingly enough the alt-c look in black shark was a bug! As such I believe it won't ever be present in a10 which is a shame. As for trackIR, I and everyone else on the forum cannot recommen it enough :) -
Check your PMs mate :)

TrackIR is absolutely incredible. You 100% will not regret it. I'd sooner play with a 2 button joystick and TrackIr using the -+ keys for the throttle, than a full HOTAS setup without it. If money is an issue consider the X52 pro, very good for the price. If money isn't an issue, then Warthog all the way :-) I need to get one soon but bought the X52 so recently that I can't justify it (yet..).
-
Hahah, all these people and only you managed to pick up on it :D
-
Hi there, welcome to the forums and to the most in depth commercial flight sim currently available :-) The X52 is a great piece of kit, with a couple of downsides. It has a sloppy centre point...Basically, it's fine for everything though you will need to set up your curves well to ever find A2A refueling anything other than very difficult. Other than that it's precise and great. Make sure TrackIR is your top priority - It entirely 100% changes the game. With TrackIR you feel like you're in the cockpit, and after a few hours practice and a good profile looking around will feel as natural as the real world. Absolutely incredible piece of equipment. Enjoy the sim :)

it cost $159 mil but I got good interest on a loan.

+rep because although I can't help in anyway, I have a lot of respect for you modders.

I see :) Tried to +rep you but apparently I've been doing that too often! :D

My only comment: ebuyer.co.uk. The time you spend learning to build your own machine will be significantly less than the time it takes most people to earn the difference in cost between a prebuilt and a do-it-yourself rig. £1500 will you buy an absolute state of the art machine you build yourself. I'm talking real high end stuff. It'll buy you an okay prebuilt.

Huh? Not sure what you mean. I bought the F22 on Ebay and picked up the Typhoon on Gumtree. You can pick up anything from auction websites these days. Suffice to say, I am the only individual here with a genuine experience and as such I am right.
-
I've flown both the Typhoon and the F-22 and in my opinion the Typhoon is superior. True story: My and a mate took one up each and did a best of ten dog fights, I was in the Typhoon and won 8 of 10 rounds...Though that may just be my superior skills as a Top Gun. Next week we're gonna give it another go with me flying the F-22 but I'll probably downplay my skills so that the Typhoon looks better.

Sis?! Sir, the odds of finding a female on the website for a simulation of a war plane are approximately 3720 to 1!
-
I've not tried X-Plane - Am waiting on number X. I reckon with the FS team out the way and with Flight looking to cater to ....Well I'm not sure who they're hoping to pull in with it...Anyway...Hopefully the high quality addons (GEx, REX, MytrafficX, PMDG etc etc) will make the move to X-plane, and in a year or so after release we'll have the most advanced commercial flight sim available. That would be lovely :)

Which is an absolutely huge shame considering how different the gameplay would be if the trees acted as real objects...manouvering low and ducking through woodland would make the shark my sim of of choice :( As a matter of interest, why is that Rise of Flight manages collide-able trees and DCS doesn't? Is it just considered non critical and as such not much work has been done on it, or is it more to do with differences in the engine/scale of the sim?

what's the point in having an SSD if you don't use it for the most hard disk heavy applications? By the time you've destroyed it due to write limits I have no doubt SSDs will cost so little it wont be an issue :)
