  1. Thanks for the input there Raptor9. I can agree with you on the speculation aspect. I don't know how it works, these are the things i wonder and like to learn about. Perhaps this is the intended effect of how things work. At same time i cant figure out in my mind why on would make a function to work in this way. That is why i was wondering from of other peoples input. In case i was not clear on what i was trying to say. I posted a photo of what i was speaking about in the ED sneak peek hellfire video that shows the two launchers with hellfire at different articulation position. thanks Jesse.
  2. After watching the sneak peek videos and the pre-order launch video i have noticed that when using the rocket pods that both pylons are articulated down words. When the weapons are set to the hellfire missiles, only one pylon is articulated down. I am wondering why one would only have one pylon tilted down while the other is straight when its both the same missile type. One would think that if your going to engage multiple targets that both pylons would be articulated at the same degree. It would make more since to launch a missile from each side in order to balance weight of the aircraft. So, from the people who do fly the AH-64 in service. Is this truly the case of only one missile pylon being articulated while there other is in the fixed position and then when the missile switches side the articulation swaps? Or is this some type of small error on ED part. Just my view from the outside world looking in. To me it would make more sense to have both missile pylons articulated at the same degree at the same time when active. Thanks Jesse.
  3. If you look at your gunsight there are two black toggle switches on the left side of the dial knobs. Those two switches need to be in the up position for the auto function
  4. From what i remember flying the KA-50, it does not fly well one 1 engine with weapons. It sounds like that the loss of the left engine along with the state of your collective just bogged down the right engine tell where you crashed. Honestly the best way to survive is after losing a engine is to take and jettison the weapon stores and fly home. It may be a two engine helicopter, still needs the power of 1.5 engines to really be able to continue flying. I have flown back home plenty of times on one engine. It takes alot more work with power management of the collective to make it back. Pull to much collective and you bog the engine down and sink.
  5. Well, you could always switch from steam to stand alone if you want. As far as i know you can port all the game keys from steam to DCS standalone. Or just install the standalone version to try it.
  6. Pretty much what Ramsey said. Not correct but noticed in one of the videos. Wags took and magnified the map inside the map box. Apparently there is two different scale settings for the map box in real life. As for DCS it appears they have it set up that one can change the zoom on the map in the map box on the fly. Honestly this isnt how it would work in real life. One would only have two choices for map sizes and you would have to replace the map for what one you would like to use. I wonder if they will change this in the future. I also wonder if this will always zoom into the location of where you start the mission, or maybe where the aircraft is currently. Be nice if the mission editor or maybe the rearm screen you could select a section of map you want to display in the map box...
  7. That really is a hard question to answer as no one has flown the hind other then the people at ED that i know of. This is one of them cases in how much do you idolize the aircraft. Honestly i have always been intrigued by helicopters and how they work. That also with how iconic the helicopter is and for some reason the appearance just keeps drawing me into it. The more and more as i see whats on the inside of the helicopter i want to learn how it works and is put together. In reality if all depends on what kind of flying you plan to do. How much time do you really want to invest into the aircraft. The only upside of buying it right now is that its on sale for early access. I also enjoy flying the UH-1H due to it being a old steam gauge aircraft and the history behind it. Personally i think i will be right at home with the Hind.
  8. Its kinda odd. I i remember correctly way back when it was Lomac or maybe in the 1.xx DCS world you could adjust the mirrors in the option menue. There was a setting from turning the mirrors on/off and next to that was a option for setting the degrees of the mirrors. Perhaps it was taken out because you couldn't adjust the mirrors individually for each aircraft there for it wouldn't work with new modulus. Be nice is they could bring it back under the special tab.
  9. In my opinion, i be leave the reason why we don't see Petrovich yet is because each one of these videos is about a specific topic. Being that Petrovich is the AI front seater/rear seater i am sure there will be a video just about him, and the capabilities he offers and can do. Each video that wags puts out is of one topic and a concentration of that topic. Putting Petrovich in each video for one little segment maybe more of a hindrance then a help. I myself look at these videos as a lesson on how to do one thing, the last thing i need is 90% of how to do one thing and then interject 10% of something that is not needed for the task. Would rather watch one video about Petrovich of all the things he is capable of instead of trying to search 10 videos to find the small pieces of info i need to accomplish the task Just my opinion
  10. Hello, i have been looking in the controls and have found a button for water injection and water injection toggle. The issue i am having is one button allows you to apply water injection but once the button is released the water injection is also removed. And the water injection toggle button only works if you already have the water injection button pushed in. I understand this is how it works in the real aircraft and its nice that DCS trys to mimic the correct controls so closely. Sadly i am just want a button where i push in to toggle the water injection and then push in to disable it. Does an one know a key command in DCS by default that allows this to happen so i don't have to dance around with multiple buttons Thanks Jesse.
  11. The dogfight/center special command is used for toggle switches on the warthog Hotas stick. When the toggle switch is in the op position it is in the dogfight mode. When the toggle switch is in the off position it is then put in the center mode. The dogfight/center switch is used for a button on a joystick where it is pressed once it goes into dogfight mode. When the button is pressed again it goes into center mode hope this helps
  12. I find that dcs likes to assign axis controls it’s self. What I find the best thing to do is erase all the axis assignments for everything and then start assign your controllers.
  13. Neat I have learned something new. Sadly that pit for the P-47 could use some tender loving care thought :( I will have to visit the virtual museum to learn more.. Thanks
  14. Sadly from all the information I have found. The weapons panel on the left side is for the D-27 and below and the weapons panel in front is for the D-30 and above. I have found no information that indicates any aircraft having both panels. Jesse
  15. If you don't have Netflix, I belive this is the same video on youtube
  16. Here is a track of the primer bug in my testing. With the engine running if you turn the primer pump to open, and when the manifold pressure drops and close it. The manifold pressure stays at the dropped state. At any point you open and close the primer pump the Manifold pressure will rise to the normal state again. In this track I took off with the bug in place with the low manifold pressure. And also redid the take off in the same direction at the same airport with the normal manifold pressure. With the ambient air temp at 50C, the P-47 has a hard time taking off when this bug is in place. Note: this test was done with out the use of the turbo. Jesse. Primer Pump Bug.trk
  17. I had the same issue with the primer pump. Some times when it’s latched it will still have low manifold pressure. If you unlatched and relatched it will return to full manifold pressure Jesse
  18. I have found out in the cold start if I do not hit enter for the Lat/Long and elevation during the alignment process, and then setting to Nav mode the steer point Dimond is stuck in the hud If during the alignment process I hit enter for the Lat/Long and elevation in the DED, then after completion of the alignment and then switch to Nav mode, everything works fine.
  19. It appears that this aircraft still does not have the 270Gallon main tank stated in the manual and in the tutorial inside the game. Also if you have fuel in the Aux tank and try to defuel the aircraft, none of the fuel in the aux tank is removed. Only fuel removed is from the main tank, everything in the Aux is only removed by running the engine. Jesse.
  20. I am confused about what ED is speaking of for items #3, and 8. I am assuming that #3 is in relation to the Oil cooler shutter, as this switch I need to cycle to the open then close in order to close the shutter. As for item #8 I am unware of what they are talking about. This "radiator" for the oil cooler, or the Inter cooler. Or maybe this has something to do with the cylinder head temps. I am unaware of any thermostat that they speak of for this aircraft as everything is done manuall. Also what is MOI? Thanks Jesse. DCS P-47D by ED 1. Added more oxygen containers. 2. Parking brake handle update. 3. Forced end switches on rad flaps on initialization. 4. Switch on position lights by default. 5. Matched descriptor to model. 6. Added spin tweak. 7. Guns pos corrected. 8. Cooling: radiator's thermostat. 9. FM adjusted for stall and spin with proper MOIs. Prop is tuned to increased power. 10. Engine tweak. 11. Prop AD data tuned for 2000/30". 12. Canopy gap fix, attitude indicator wings illuminated fix.
  21. Currently in order to change the laser codes in the aircraft it is done by using the knee board. I have no issue with this but the fact the aircraft engine and apu needs to be turned off. Once it’s off the aircraft needs to wait to be realigned as you can’t save the alignment by using ground power. With this I am making a request to change the bomb laser codes by using the knee board while the aircraft is still running. I wouldn’t think this would be a issue as you can currently rearm while the aircraft is running. When I do alignments in the aircraft I always do the full 8 minute alignment. Jesse
  22. On this aircraft it is listed as undercarriage, the simplest way to find it is when in the control settings is push the “g” key and it will take you right there.
  23. Figured I will add this to the visual damage bug. This is me after I crashed landed. Apparently when my airplane broke apart it created two tail sections of the plane and still left the original tail section on the plane. Apparently my aircraft was carrying extra parts I didn't know about inside.
  24. Does anyone know how long that the pre-order will be up for. I currently don't participate in open beta, yet I still would like to get the aircraft before the pre order goes away. Thanks
  25. I do enjoy the new screen shots of the P-47, and like most cant wait for the release. I have been reading into some of the P-47 flight manuals and one of the notes say not to run the turbo rpm past redline. Sadly in the photos ED released of the P-47 there is no redline for the turbo. Or a placard stating what the max rpm is for the turbo. Yet all the other gauges has operating limit bands in place. In fact in the manual I have seen the photo of the gauge cluster and it has a big green arc for the operating range of the Turbo with a placard stuck to the glass. And the photo I am looking at lists at the bottom "Figure 38 Instrument panel P-47D-30" From what I have read the Max RPM for the turbo is 22,000 RPM.
