  1. "7- Option to project map on globe surface." Well, that's interesting. Wonder how that works with water and rivers and all that. I wonder if Nevada will be on this globe or as a flat map. If this is in fact how ED will be releasing it's maps, projected on the globe, my faith has just been restored slightly with EDGE.
  2. EDGE was supposed to be the future :smartass:
  3. Exactly my concerns. It's so odd to me that they "re-wrote" this terrain engine, something that's taken them years to do, only to have many of the same limitations the original engine had 10+ years ago. But then again, what other choices do we have? I guess if you're in a niche market you have to be willing to put up with certain limitations. I wish ED would get to the level of Chris Roberts type PR. Spend some time, use a *new* engine, and re-invent flight sims. The more they keep recycling their old code / technology the less people will be attracted. /end rant EDIT: Just saw Star Citizen has reached 20 Million. Two - Zero. I bet some of those people would be into a *modern* flight sim with bad a** graphics engine!
  4. For a brand new terrain engine, I'm still a little confused as to why it still seems so archaic. I mean, the new tools are great, but other than that, I really can't see much difference. The lighting (hopefully) will still get a nice upgrade, but even that is unknown. The maps are still flat, something FSX and X-Plane terrain have no problem getting over. Does this also mean that the water is still one giant, flat plane underneath the land? That has caused plenty of visual problems in our current engine. The non-collidable trees. Knowing that EDGE is the *NEW* terrain engine means these limitations will be around for a very long time.
  5. lol. Steam runs using less resources than the browser window you have open right now. If it's a hog then you probably need a new PC.
  6. Thank you for your response, I know I can download it from ED, but I've already "Migrated" over to steam with all my modules, I was wondering when I could unlock my steam version basically. ;)
  7. I guess I just don't get the logic. If you are so worried about money, why haven't you ALWAYS been someone that waits for sales? Why do you ever buy anything when it first comes out? I mean if you understand that eventually, things will go on sale, what is the big news here? ED has had sales before, and they'll have sales again. So, I'm so confused as to why NOW you seem to have learned this big lesson to wait for sales. If I buy on release, it's because I want to play it as soon as I can. That is the sacrifice I'm willing to make to play it RIGHT AWAY. The F-18C is a perfect example, I'm buying that immediately, KNOWING that it WILL go on sale in the future. It's not rocket science. It comes down to a very basic concept. Save $30 or play it immediately.
  8. I noticed it is now available on steam. I'm assuming our keys from ED will eventually be transferred over to steam, but I just tried this morning, and it's not done yet. Anyone have an ETA when keys are usually transferred to Steam?
  9. I had the same issue last night. Couldn't log in, but when I pressed "Cancel" I was able to download the Mi-8 Module anyway. lol. Works for me.
  10. Question for you: What is the point in buying a $400 video card when it's first released? What is the point in buying a $1,500 LCD TV when it's first released? You can go on and on about what you think you should get, but what you get, IS THE PRODUCT. That's it. If you don't think a video card is worth $400, DON'T BUY IT. Wait until it's $240 a few months later. Same goes for the TV, Same goes for software. :smartass:
  11. Right, because something was taken from you. I forgot. Oh wait, NOTHING was taken from you. You paid for a product that you received. Crazy I know. Crazy.
  12. That's really the only issue here. They want their products to sell. Period. BST is just trying to make more money, and the sales seem to be helping them do that.
  13. Who said the reason for the store marking things down had anything to do with physical space?
  14. 1. Walmart has an HDTV selling at $1299. 2. Two weeks later, Walmart has a sale on same TV for $999. 3. Walmart is ripping people off? <------ I'm sorry I don't see it.
  15. Haha. This is amusing listening to everyone that's upset. Ever hear the phrase "fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on ME" Either support BST at full price or don't. At this point if your thinking, at all, you'll realize there WILL be sales.
  16. I agree with all of you about the shaking. It's way too much. It's very distracting and have you ever seen it in multiplayer? It looks like the other choppers are going to flip over. Having said that, we'll probably get someone coming in here saying "It's WIP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! RELAXXXXXX" lol. I find it better to discuss these things BEFORE the final release, but, who am I?
  17. Sigh. I really can't stand when people do this. We're asking about what might or might not potentially make it in to the final version. Saying that the IG currently looks a little underwhelming is just stating the obvious. Instead of throwing out the "OMG It's a WIP... RELAXXXXX" why don't you be a little more constructive? We all know what Work In Progress means. EDIT: I'm having a bad day at work sorry I'm coming across as a jerk. It just bugs me when you make all of our observations obsolete when you use that comment.
  18. That excites me. Let's hope that is the case.
  19. I wonder if they are planning to add any type of shading/shadows to the world? That would really help finalize the look and feel of this new IG.
  20. I think he's more concerned with them being fixed. I'm sure ED knows about most if not all of them.
  21. That's interesting that you know what resolution screen they're going to be using in the consumer version. Where'd you find that information?
  22. And people still don't seem to see the benefit of DCS: World on steam?! lol
  23. Correct. The gain is I save $50 and don't get a headache trying to update 2 pieces of software when ED has enough trouble updating 1.
  24. I personally won't be backing this project unless they decide to keep it within DCS: World. I see so many more annoying things to deal with on top of the outdated system we already have now. People have problems downloading/installing modules now, can you imagine this with two different branches/version numbers and what modules will work with what branch.. ugh.
