  1. Have you ever figured out what the best settings were for the mouse hat slew rates? I've played around with the axis tune and still have yet to find a solid setting. Hopefully with 1.2.7 we'll be able to make a change, without exiting the mission, to get some more instant feedback. Also, I'm not sure if this is me having an issue or what, but sometimes slewing in certain directions get's the pointer "stuck" in one axis. If I want to move the TGP up and to the right, sometimes it'll just move up (y) and get stuck in the (x) axis. Re-centering the mouse hat fixes it until I try to go in the same direction again. Little frustrating.
  2. Thank you for clarifying that ;) I guess when you fly around the Black sea and are constantly flying over those rivers, I notice it all the time. My attitude was in regards to your comment, which obviously was inaccurate, as Grimes just stated. When you fly in a certain area often, I'd say it's very existent, and noticeable. Anyway, I guess I was just curious about how EDGE is going to handle this. Only time will tell I suppose.
  3. The fact that the water surface looks 200+ ft under the shoreline in most rivers and lakes is what I'm mostly speaking about. Thanks for the wise comment though- always appreciated.
  4. I was just thinking about EDGE today and the whole "Flat plane of water under everything" method currently used in DCS: World. Considering Wags said the the terrain has the option to be put onto a spherical globe, I wonder if that means they've moved away from that method of rendering water, to a more... visually appealing, shall we say, method.
  5. http://unigine.com/sim/ - The engine is specifically designed for simulation use. Amongst other things of course. Also, from THEIR youtube page: "Rescue Helicopter Simulator powered by UNIGINE Sim <------- * 6 visual channels * 60 Hz mode * CIGI protocol interconnection * 262x262 km scenario * Real geospatial data" How do you figure? "UNIGINE Engine delivers cutting-edge graphical technologies combined with features required specifically for serious games, training and simulation. This all-in-one multi-platform solution is a robust framework for projects of various types." Directly from their website. Some people are so quick to hate it's astonishing sometimes. lol
  6. That's so funny that you mention this, that happened to me the other day in the P-51, I thought I heard something odd when I was chatting. Only after I taxied out to the runway did I realize my canopy was missing. It would be nice if they disabled mouse clicking in the cockpit once another window is open in.
  7. "We will first release DCS 1.2.7 as an Open Beta using a web installer. This open beta install will be separate from your release DCS World (1.2.6) install and have separate configuration files. Once you download the open beta, you will use the Module Manager to install your modules. We particularly hope that this, combined with the automatic track crash generator, will help us resolve remaining network issues prior to the final release version of DCS 1.2.7. This is an optional beta, and if you do not wish to take part, you certainly do not have to." -Wags
  8. I only responded like that because of your initial comment, which I thought was a little "snarky" myself. I apologize if that's not how you meant it. It's actually pretty easy to see the odd behavior if you just look at it. When you shoot, about a 4ft stream of smoke comes out of the gun and dissipates immediately after that 4 ft mark. That doesn't really look terrible, but I don't think it's correct. When you stop shooting however, the smoke seems to fall back behind the plane as it should. It gives the appearance of the smoke particles "sticking" to the gun until you stop shooting, then falls back into the atmosphere. This picture is how the smoke should work from the moment you start firing. But the smoke will never go past a few feet UNTIL you stop shooting. Then it falls back. EDIT: Kuky sniped me =\
  9. http://www.theverge.com/2013/12/13/5207906/flush-with-cash-oculus-plans-ambitious-new-vr-headset Some good information here. Positional tracking looks to be a definite also ;)
  10. I'd take a guess his Pitot heat wasn't on and his IAS said he was going faster than he actually was? Or his IAS was correct and he was just going too slow anyway.
  11. You're also not sure about what the OP is talking about obviously. It's always bugged me as well how the gun smoke reacts currently. Let's hope edge fixes that.
  12. I was just experimenting with this last night. I'm having the same problem as the OP. He goes to his way point that I assign the orbit for. And he did leave the orbit when he was bingo, and started to head back towards the airport. But instead of landing, he just flew some odd pattern until he ran out of fuel and crashed. My goal is to build a mission where I set flags for when all enemy units are destroyed, new ones spawn back in (not even sure if that's possible) and the tanker continues a refueling mission. Anytime he's Bingo'd, I want him to fly back, refuel, and take off again to continue the circuit as before. All this is really just to keep a free-flight mission up and running without restarting it every few hours. Has anyone done things like this before?
  13. Well, as soon as you try it, you'll understand why it will be a game changer. ;) I was skeptical also until I tried it. Just sayin.
  14. Question, have you ever used the Oculus? Also, #1 you could replace with anything. Sitting in a sim pit with a TrackIR on your head for hours isn't also a recipe for divorce? lol #2 Drinking would be hard to do with the current Dev Kit, who knows what the final will have. #3 Same as number 2. The consumer release could have this figured out. Maybe a camera on the outside of the device so you can see things through the HMD when you want, or a keyboard that works with the Oculus that shows up.
  15. That bugs me.. Thank you for clarifying though.
  16. You say the TV you got was 30hz, this one says 120hz. http://www.amazon.com/Seiki-Digital-SE50UY04-50-Inch-120Hz/dp/B00BXF7I9M Are we talking about something different?
  17. Isn't just using flight director a better option? That way you get all the dampening of the channels but without the autopilot trying to maintain a certain heading/pitch/ etc.
  18. DCS is what I'm most looking forward to with the rift... besides Star Citizen. I hope they get it integrated soon!
  19. Looks interesting. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-12-09-a-future-that-has-a-history-introducing-no-mans-sky
  20. Steam says I have less that 1 minute logged into DCS: World. I know that's not true because, well, I play all the time. It doesn't recognize that you're even playing DCS: World.
  21. I figure by my birthday in March there will be lots of new toys. Nevada hopefully!, F-15C & Su-27 AFMs, Oculus HD Dev kit & Oculus support in DCS, Huey will be out of BETA, and Mig21BiS, maybe T.1A. Things are getting exciting.
  22. Not sure what thread you're reading but the guy I am talking to was talking about the Su-27. :music_whistling: ---------
  23. <-- New Flanker pit I wonder if the F-15C and the Su-27 are going to be released at the same time. I own FC3 but I might have to purchase these separately anyway just because I'm using DCS from steam atm. Either way, they are both going to be awesome, I can't wait.
