I think he was asking about the Flanker (Su-27) - That has 6DoF already I believe and they are currently working on the AFM for it.

looking for fellow helicopter pilots to fly online

With that set-up I'm surprised you don't have every helicopter that's available! -
A little F-15C AFM update - 7 December 2013

I was hoping the new dev kits would be 1440p but, 1080p is better than nothing. If it has positional tracking also like John Carmack hoped, it'll be much improved.

I have mixed feelings about DCS: World. One one hand, it's my go-to software. By that, I mean no matter how fast I get sick of other games, BF3, BF4, World of Warcraft, X3, etc etc, I can ALWAYS go back to DCS. It's the one piece of software I have NOT uninstalled from my SSD, and I don't see myself doing that anytime soon. Having said that, there are other things that start to bug me. ED has been in this game a long time. They've produced a few DCS level modules in the years they have been in operation. WHY it is still such a mystery for them as to how long any given project will take them, it's just baffling. I get the feeling that they just keep doing side projects (Combined Arms?) or military projects, and just go down whatever direction they see fit at the time. For example, Wags mentioned months ago that we would be getting a new mission selection screen UI. Then he just recently posted an update about a mission selection screen UI that they're working on now... huh? Now rumored is a CA 1.5? And it's been stated that the P-51 Mustang wasn't even finished because of time constraints. (cold engine operation/start-up) It's just all over the place. I am excited about the 3rd party projects but I too have concerns about the quality. Belsimtek doesn't really count because they are partners with ED. I saw IRIS's F-22 in P3D 2.0 and I can honestly say I would not enjoy that in DCS: World. It just feels cheap. I'll be curious to see what Beczl and VEAO can do before I make any decisions on that though.

I would become a drone pirate. I would make my living intercepting these drones and selling the amazon products on-board.

MAYBE, the Minsk team actually created the other maps for those other companies?! :megalol:
-
Doubt the model/texture artists were busy writing code for the engine. Although, I suppose they could be programmer/artist hybrids over there. Also, That doesn't explain the maps we've been seeing by 3rd parties. These other companies have had enough time to grab EDGE (even if it was at an earlier version,) model more than one city, texture more than one city, and get them to work inside their simulator? Doesn't make sense. I personally think ED had more money coming in from these other companies, so they put their entertainment consumer products at the back of the line. That would make the most sense to me. But you gotta go where the money is too. Better that then they just go under.

I hope Nevada is at least on par with some of the building models, textures from these maps. Like Wags said, the only limitation for EDGE is the amount of time the developer wants to spend on the map. Which in Nevada's case, it's like 3+ years. haha. Unfortunately we're not even getting all the major hotels on the strip. Maybe they need 4 years to do that.

http://www.avia-ts.ua/en/production_en/27-kompleksnye-trenazhery-vertoletov-mi-8mtv-mi-17v-mi-171-mi-17v-5.html Scroll down a bit you can see EDGE on the ground =) EDIT: I'd take one of those simulators any day.

I'm not sure if you live in the states or not, but Science Friday on NPR had a great interview with Sara Seager not too long ago, about the future of exoplanet searching. http://www.sciencefriday.com/segment/11/15/2013/searching-for-earth-2-0.html Check it out!

Hello, I was just wondering if anyone knows about ED's plans for being able to edit controls from within a mission. It was mentioned a while back from Wags that they were working on getting that implemented. I have not found the post yet but I'll edit it in when I do. Anyone know if this is still planned?

Thought they had this done 6 months ago.. http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1761748&postcount=1 Hopefully we'll actually see it integrated soon.

I honestly, cannot wait. Flight sims will never be the same after the consumer version comes out.
-
Actually, that's not really true. If you've ever used an OR, you will notice there are magnifying lenses on it. So you're seeing less pixels than the screen actually has, per eye. It seems like it's zoomed to the point you can easily pick up the lines between each pixel of light, hence the screen door effect. People have even said there is still the screen door effect on the 1080p version of the OR, which obviously, you don't see on your monitor because your face isn't 2 inches from your screen. That's why the OR needs an extremely dense pixel per inch.

Isn't the world flat in DCS currently? Does this square disc actually spin around correctly in some grand model of the universe that I don't know about? Anyone still looking at this? http://unigine.com/press-releases/130612-helicopter-demo-preview/ 262x262 km. Pretty beautiful if you ask me.

I just thought moderators were supposed to stop threads from de-railing, not help. All he was doing was mocking a forum member for believing BST is the studio working on EDGE, based on what he saw in a video. But if that's cool with everyone, I could care less. I just hope they don't warn other people for doing the same thing.

How you are a moderator with posts like this really baffles me.

There has been so many thing announced I can't even keep track anymore. Honestly though, give me some AFMs, engine smoke, and EDGE, and you won't be seeing me out any time soon.

"The "DCS Flaming Cliffs" modules allow us to develop the more detailed "DCS" titles in a more iterative way." - Waggs I suppose you're right, this was never "confirmed", but it sounded as if these DCS Flaming Cliffs aircraft would eventually be made to DCS level of fidelity.
-
I thought the decision was already made to "eventually" bring the F-15C up to A-10C standards. Just in stages. Guess not.
-
John Carmack says "..We expect the next Dev kit will have higher resolution and position tracking..."
-
Well then, in that case you should just disassemble your computer, put your joystick, rudder pedals, and Track IR away, because there is now WAY, in any stretch of the imagination, that you're flying a real A-10C. Flight sims ARE imagination. That's what it's all about. If you can pretend to fly an A-10C over a map of Georgia in a war scenario, you can stretch it a little farther and pretend there is a war scenario in Nevada.
