I don't think they'll be modeled. I just got an email with a response to this thread from Wags, saying it'll just be the 3 airports: "Correct, only Nellis, Groom Lake and Creech will be included in this map and this will not change." It was removed for some reason though.. Hopefully, like some people have stated, there will be tools available for people to "mod" in some other airports.

MSI GTX970 Gaming OC 4GB First Thoughts
KaspeR32 replied to JaseGill's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
You are misunderstanding what the conversation is about. I'm not upgrading from a 780ti to a 970. I'm upgrading from an R9 280X to EITHER a 780ti or a 970. I was asking which I should do, and the 970 according to some people might be the more "future proof" card considering it's new architecture and subsequent driver updates. -

I think he was saying that the drivers might not be fully optimized *yet* for the 970. So when they eventually do enable more of the features of the new architecture, maybe then it'll will beat the 780ti in performance. They won't "tailor" the new drivers for the 970, but they'll only get better for it. -

Very true, that does make a lot of sense. I guess it's just hard to look past the 780ti being at such a reduced price, it's always been a card I told myself I could never afford! -

Yes but it's faster than the 970. "While the GeForce GTX Titan Black or GeForce GTX 980 may be faster in certain situations, Nvidia's GeForce GTX 780 Ti remains closely competitive with both when it comes to gaming performance. Now that it's been replaced by the GeForce GTX 980, however, we've seen the remaining stock heavily discounted below the $450 mark. This makes the GeForce GTX 780 Ti an incredible value for the money if you're looking for no-compromise ultra-high resolution gaming performance at a surprisingly low price." -Tom's Hardware -

I'm curious to know what you guys think of the GTX 780ti on sale for $400 US Dollars. Still worth it to get the 970? -
Interview with Leatherneck Studios
KaspeR32 replied to Count Sessine's topic in Heatblur Simulations
Wonder if this stuff still applies to Leatherneck... I know this doesn't mean anything for Leatherneck, but it just makes me wonder if there really is enough info about these jets out there.. -
Actually, yes. How else would you take "we plan to release DCS World 2 later this year." ?
-
I think there could be other ways around this problem. I wouldn't say it's impossible, but it is a very big hurdle for sure.

uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh... http://www.pcworld.com/article/2362220/japanese-firms-develop-13inch-8k-oled-display.html Granted that would never be anywhere near full scale distribution but... CV1 @ 4k anyone? hehehe
-
Well there you go. Guess it's not that different after all if we've done it already.
-
According to what Flagrum posted, what you've been saying all along is wrong. :music_whistling:
-
True, but that's not to say that it can't be in part handled by software. Especially if Nvidia (which they have) builds in features that specifically support VR. It's not just raw horsepower that's going to get us to 4k @ 60 - 90 Hz.
-
A few people that used it said it's definitely not the same resolution. I wouldn't be surprised if we see a 4k screen in CV1. If we're already at 1440p @ 90hz on todays hardware? What's holding them back? Keep in mind, Carmack got 1440p at a reasonable Hz to run on a Note 4. If he can do that with cellphone hardware, I don't see why a GTX 980 with "VR Direct" built into the hardware couldn't do it. We'll have to wait and see I suppose. EDIT: Why would you need physical IPD adjustment when you can just adjust the IPD on the screen itself? It's just the separation of the images displayed right? EDIT 2: The optics/lenses I guess is what you mean?

You sir, just made my day. Just one more reason I can't wait for 2.0 to be released. :joystick:

Same deal for me. I took a break from DCS for the last few months, mostly because of the current engine. Things have been bugging me more than usual with it, and I'm assuming it's because of what I know about the improvements on the horizon, I will gladly wait. January is going to be a fun time for me, especially if DK2 works with ATI cards.

Technically, Hormuz has a release date, and NTTR does not. Aren't we always told not to jump to conclusions? hehe
-
Or not see. Doubt that's on their to do list any time soon.

hahaha I needed a laugh thank you. Yes, Oculus bringing awareness to the VR scene is just "limping far behind." Without Oculus, there would be NO VR market, or one that was so insignificant, it wouldn't warrent mentioning. The ONLY reason we are even having this conversation is because of Oculus. Also, why hasn't Facebook invested in one of these other VR companies that has been "pushing the field forward" so much better than Oculus?? Oh right, it must be because you know more than a multi-billion dollar company that's investing in the technology. Or, you don't, at all, which is obvious after reading your posts. Please, give it a rest.

130FPS with 2xTitan Black on 4k - but just for 60sec
KaspeR32 replied to Dropship Pilot's topic in Game Performance
So basically what you're saying is DP 2.0 better be included in next gens video cards. =P -
A lot of Steam convenience. Faster downloads, friends list, and all your games in one place just to name a few. And whoever is saying "Not all of your money will go to ED if you purchase on Steam." While that is correct, the additional market share ED has access to MORE than makes up for the 30% or whatever it is they give to steam. Wags even said most people still fly FC3. You think people that just want to jump into the game are going to go look for ED's page, download 5 files or a huge torrent. Then use ED's sometimes difficult website to purchase a module, then install it via the slow updater? Casual users will not. Steam will/has helped DCS: World more than most of you probably realize.

DCS-F-86f: Joyriding through the Mountains
KaspeR32 replied to mjmorrow's topic in Screenshots and Videos
Nice flying. Although it should be called flying through the very noticeable polygons. For some reason in this video it's very evident DCS is in need of a higher resolution map ;) -
I am quite curious about this myself. I had noticed the gun smoke in the new videos as well and was thinking the same thing. I hope new effects will be coming with EDGE, but I get the feeling we'll just have to wait and see.
