  1. I wonder if there is anything new to show in FC3, is it worth spending time (and money) making a video?
  2. I see. Sooner or later, we will get turn and climb rate. Then we will be able to compare. Now, everybody can speculate ...
  3. So ... we don't have turn and climb rate data for F-35. In that movie, at 1:00, it said that RAND corporation and US government prepared that report? I guess, they had appropriate data to work with. Who is RAND corporation anyway?
  4. So .... What is actual F-35 sustained turn rate? Climb rate? Anybody?
  5. Money is not an issue here. I've spent around $300 buying ED products everything from Lock On, FC, FC 2, Ka-50, Ka-50 2, A-10C, P-51 ... And I got multiple copies of most of these. And I often bought them just to support ED, because I don't have time to play with all of that. And I spent close to a $1000 and a lots of my hours for hosting dedicated server, web site ... And another $1500 to get water cooled computer, so that I can play ... And I am very happy that I spent all that money. And I am ready to spend as much more ... But, I want to spend it on a product, not on a copy and paste code, and 6DOF F-15 cockpit. I work for a manufacturing company that among other things, develops software, thus I know what it takes to do software stuff. And I do know and fully understand that ED and Fighter Collection have to make money. However, there is nothing in FC 3 for me now. F-15 lovers, they will get something. Me, nothing. Also, FC 3 looks like it is for beginners that are getting into DCS world. I don't know ... I'll see what my squad mates are going to say. But, I am not excited at all.
  6. Well, I am not impressed with FC 3. I've been buying ED's products because of Flanker, Fulcrum and Frogfoot. And I don't see anything done for those three. Importing FC 2 aircraft (already existing code) to DCS world does not make me feel spending money. As mentioned earlier on this thread, the missile AFM is DCS feature, not FC 3 feature, and I don't see why is that listed as a NEW feature of FC 3? It looks like FC 3 is a product for new comers. Going back to reading MiG-21 manual ... :smilewink:
  7. Well, on paper (if one is actually available), is F-35 turn rate and climb worst then Su-35? I mean, that was what that movie in the first post was all about, right?
  8. Very cheap propaganda movie. That's why, I will not going to see it. Unfortunately, I personally experienced unpleasant situations where people quoted movies to make their point about how bad and cruel is the other side.
  9. My heart and soul is going to be in Batajnica on Saturday. Unfortunately, this year I could not make it for the show!
  10. This is very interesting.
  11. That is, over 10 years period, which is about or less then 10% of a DoD budget, right?
  12. This must be over 10 years period. Politicians like to put big numbers, but often do not want to mention what time period they are talking about. I am not sure about this one?
  13. If I am not mistaken, DoD budget will be cut for about $50 billions under sequestration. That's somewhat around 10% of the DoD budget. And even less then that if you count out-of-budget military spending that we go through every year. So, I don't think that it is as dramatic as some people are trying to portray it. Also, whenever we need money for DoD, congress is quick to act to fill the need. Thus, I don't see this "sequestration" as a big deal at all.
  14. Most of them are private companies. If they want to survive, they will have to transform their business to make goods that they can sell not just to the Government. If they are unable to transform, then even more people will loose their jobs.
  15. We are out of money. Something has to give or else we will end up as Soviet Union. We just can not spend money we don't have.
  16. I've been using water cooling for several years now. I built three water-cooled PC's and had a little water-cooling system on one of my video cards. Here's few pictures of my current watercolled PC based on Thermaltake Kandalf case. The feature I like the most with this case is the fact that the heat exchanger is outside of the case. The whole front door is one large radiator with three fans pushing the air.
  17. You know, we can do this forever ... F16/18, MiG 29 (which one), Su 27B .... Can not detect flying missile? They can not detect IR signature of the ballistic missile launch because they are not designed for that purpose. And there is an F-35 that has EOS pointed down, and that's a big deal? Then you list all these "fancy" capabilities such as "geolocate" and "datalink"? Well, these features would be impressive 20 or 30 years ago, but today my ASUS Infinity tablet knows its location within 20 or 30 feet. And Google knows about that too! Geolocate and datalink, wow, impressive ... Never believe anything car salesmen tells you .... Reminder: SAM = Stealth STOP!
  18. I know Aaron. I also like new stuff, toys with bells and whistles. And, in my opinion, F-35 is very, very good airplane for what it will be doing in the future. It is this video that did not impress me at all because it did not show anything so special. It just showed a standard system test. I don't know the test details, there could be something very cool about this test. But tracking a missile with the radar/EOS what is so special about that?
  19. Yeah, show this video on Belgium TV. This may convince some taxpayers that it is good to buy F-35's! Because there is no other airplane the world that can detect a missile launch, from a know position, and track it with its own radar/EOS. :) Don't get me wrong, I want you to buy F-35. It is manufactured in my neighborhood, sort of. The more you buy the better is for me ...
  20. This video is not showing searching for launchers. This video is showing tracking a missile from a known launcher position and F-35 tracking missiles after the launch. BTW, fighters have had EOS for more then thirty years and radars for more them 50 years. There is something else going on here. Probably a sales pitch trying to impress amateur, a tax payer ... Don't get me wrong, I am sure the system is good and is up to the latest in technology, but it doesn't show anything new or anything that competitors couldn't do or don't have already. Again, I think the whole purpose of this video is a sales pitch to taxpayers. Reminder: SAM = Stealth STOP!
