  1. Give it a few years, and many of us will no doubt have invested about that into DCS ;)
  2. Happens with everything in life unfortunately. Best thing you can do is buy only the modules you really want, and just wait for the innevitable sale for the things you aren't sure about. I got the MI8 the first time it went up for sale, I had little interest in it and rarely fly it so wouldn't have paid for it otherwise, I suspect this is why they have the sales. I was very lucky to get the Sabre at it's very large discount the other day, not sure if that was an error or not but it didn't having around for long. Other stuff like the A-10c, P-51D and FC3 etc, I have no regrets paying full price for even though they have since been heavily discounted. I've had plenty of enjoyment from them.
  3. A great decision too...
  4. Oh so would I, I would never want to see DCS simplified for the sake of it. I like a challenge and I love DCS for what it is... The P-51D was a challenge for quite a while until we learned how to tame it, the amount of threads about it's violent snap rolls etc are testament to that . I just genuinely believe the 190 isn't correct as it is, it can't be. Whether it is the lack of peripheral vision, or the extra senses we are missing out of vs reality I have no idea. But all modules have that problem, it is just part of the hobby, while DCS can be frustrating at times, the 190 is taking the cake during take off. Maybe it is perfect, but I suspect not based on what we can see in real videos etc. Maybe we will find out more soon, I don't think practice will make perfect as it stands. This is my point, While take off is achievable, it seems overly dramatic currently.
  5. Don't wind him up Flagrum... 3 weeks!
  6. I suspect you're right about the 109, like I said, I've always liked that bird although I look forward to a nice MK:9 Spitfire to really give it a run for its money. I do think something is amiss with the 190 as it is currently however. I guess we'll find out soon if a patch comes along or not. Until then, mine will be sitting unused which is a shame.
  7. I have no idea about the technical side, but are other games stuttering? I only ask as my DCS world has also been stuttering a bit lately, maybe the problem isn't with your machine and the next patch will help. Unless it is very bad...
  8. I don't pull the stick back. I think you misunderstood, I was just making a light hearted sarcastic post although my points were genuine. I can take off, my point was it is messy and overly difficult imo, it's fine for us in our virtual planes with a reset button. I'm just trying to picture those young German pilots trying this for the first time and if the physics in this module are correct... rather them than me! I have spent years on this forum being positive, I am just not enjoying the 190 so you'll have to let me have this one.. no offense intended. I'm back in the P-51D and loving it. The P-51 isn't easy to take off by any means, but at least it doesn't try overly hard to kill you, even if she will bite your head off for abusing her, and I can stay pretty much centered on the run way as you would expect to see in reality. When I get up in the 190 it is usually sideways or by the skin of my teeth. Again, glad you're enjoying it. I prefer the 109 anyway, maybe I'll give that one more of a chance.
  9. Did all of that before flying it, like I said, it may well be me. I'm all for accuracy in DCS, but it has to be enjoyable also otherwise there isn't much point. I'm not enjoying the 190, glad you are.
  10. I was looking around and found a pretty shocking video, this guy takes off in the FW 190 and he doesn't even die once. No violent roll or drama at all really despite being on a rough surface, just kind of glides up into the air. Sarcasm aside, the Dora is still the only module I don't enjoy, as much as I try too. Yes, It could be me being rubbish, but I find it hard to imagine the real thing is so difficult to take off in. This guy is no doubt an experienced airman. But those young, often inexperienced guys in the 40s would have destroyed more of there own aircraft than the RAF if it were so unforgiving I am sure...
  11. I struggled with this problem for ages! Not sure if it is feasible for you, but I solved it by changing my desk so that the pedals can now push flush against the wall, this stops them moving at all.
  12. I wouldn't be upset with a TU-22 if the B1b wasn't feasible..
  13. Depends on your budget really, I use the saitek combat pro myself, didn't want to spend too much. They can be a little clunky sometimes but they are built well and do the job. The metal pedals are a nice touch also.
  14. Sorry, but I disagree, this makes no sense to me. Should we keep getting the same old stuff over and over? DCS is relatively young still so things aren't quite clicking yet. WW2 aircraft are here to stay which many of us are happy about, and there is enough modern stuff on the way to please everybody else that isn't so interested in 40's tech. A carrier aircraft is just the next step, and once we have one there are plenty of opportunities to add more don the line.Hellcat, Corsair, bearcat (veao), Avenger, Sea Fury, Gale, Zero etc etc. We can worry about things fitting in down the line as more and more stuff comes out, with so few modules currently, now isn't the time to worry about that so much. A lot of us would like a Vietnam theme for instance, but we can't expect 5 or 6 full of modules and all the maps and ground units etc all at once. The Huey could be, and hopefully is the start of all of that. But it will take time. I also don't think we should get caught up on expecting certain developers to stick with certain types, yes they may have made a superb fast jet which is great to see, but if they want to put their love and passion into a ww2 aircraft, or even a chopper next then that should be fine. Just buy the stuff that interests you, for everything that doesn't, there will be plenty of other people exited.
  15. I voted B1(b) but I suspect it is still far too classified to model properly. I'd love to see an SU-34, always loved the look of that jet.
  16. All I can say is that as a fixed wing fan, I have all the choppers, the only one I ever fly is the Huey. Great fun and simple to learn. It is the obvious choice for a beginner pilot imo and the firepower will keep people interested as they learn.
  17. That looks great, my F-15 has been crying out for some new skins!
  18. Thanks for the heads up, Just got the Sabre!
  19. Two F-18s collide over the Pacific, one pilot has been found alive, the other is still missing. I hope he is okay.. http://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/u-s-fighter-jets-collide-over-pacific-one-pilot-missing-n201871
  20. Not combat related, but this is intense! Edit: Nevermind... short lived video, seems it can only be viewed now on the Redbull air race or Martin Sonkas page, posted on 5/09/14.
  21. Yeah maybe, I'm just wondering if we have a surprise or two before the F-18c and the L-39, or maybe he just has these ready well before they are due.... the Fly by sound would have helped lol.
  22. You'd think the F-18 and the L-39 may be a little far off, but then who knows.. I know it isn't the Hawk.
  23. These appeared on BTDs Soundcloud page, but he left a bit of mystery as to what they may be for. -1 So, get your bets in, new modules, trailers? What do you think might fit well with these sounds? I like them whatever they may be.
  24. Love your videos, thank you for the effort..
  25. We are still getting it, just directly from ED now. And plenty of us are looking forward to such aircraft.
