  1. Thanks ENO, I had found that thread also. I was hoping somebody on the boards may have made the specific jump from the 680 to the 780 and could record the results. I think I'll get the extra ram, that can't hurt I suppose. The newer 780 shows about 20%improvement for several titles, I'm just not sure it would have the same effect on DCS which is more cpu intensive. Hmmm....
  2. I have found myself spending more time in FC3 than any of the full modules although I admit I haven't touched the A-10A. They are great if you just fancy a quick flight or something a little more simple. Once you sit in that beautiful F-15 pit you'll soon forget that it is a simplified sim and just have fun with it. It looks great and flies great.... and it's fast! We may even get clicky cockpits for them down the line.
  3. Yes, both options are unchecked. The stutters seem to be worse since the last update, it is fine generally but slows down at certain moments. I tried Vsync and it made things worse. I didn't want to buy a new card yet, I just wondered if anybody had made this switch yet, if it stops the slow down I'll go ahead and do it before my "old" 680 is worthless.
  4. Hi guys, just two quick questions, does anybody know if doubling my ram will have much effect on DCS world performance? I currently have 8gb (2x4 sticks) of Corsair XMS3 DDR3, I'm thinking of putting another two sticks of the same 4gb ram in to bring the total up to 16gb. Is it worth doing? the Ram isn't a huge investment... Also, I'm getting heavy stutters around airfields and during the firing of weapons at the moment. Has anybody upgraded from a GTX 680 to a GTX 780 and if so was the performance noticeably better? This will be an expensive switch I'm sure and I wasn't going to consider it until EDGE or the rift arrived, now I'm thinking I might have to. I'm thinking I may give MSI a go this time around with their 3gb Twin Frozr GXT 780... unless anybody can recommend a better version around the same price? DCS is running from my SSD. Many thanks in advance.
  5. I'd ask for a refund. ;)
  6. The video is private you big tease ;) Welcome anyway, no music is not a bad thing, it is always much better to listen to the raw sounds imo. Also, here is a pretty cool way of posting youtube videos s that they appear as a thumbnail for all to see.
  7. It seems apparent most of us have pretty decent set ups, hopefully EDGE will take better advantage of them.
  8. Don't keep us waiting too long for the next one please  I'm guessing you have edge already and it is up and running, this is good news also...
  9. Haha, that's just mean! ;) Let the speculation commence.... It is now...
  10. Yep, no differences. It is confusing having the extra logo for something you already own within FC3 however so it is understandable why people aren't so sure about this.
  11. So how many more little GA Gems are hiding out there waiting to be found? ;)
  12. Nice catch!
  13. I have the GTX680 and have been noticing a fair bit of lag lately around airfields, it's generally fine otherwise however on pretty much max settings. I don't think it is worth updating yet however, I'm going to wait and see how EDGE responds to different cards and then think about it.
  14. Give me a squadron of Spitfires... ;) I do wish I could afford a nice BMW M3 though lol.
  15. The Mustang is beautiful, if I ever won big on the Lottory I would buy a real example to park next to my Spitfire MK.9. Until that day DCS is all I have so I won't be ditching the Mustang for the shiny new module, although I am looking forward to playing around with the Dora also.
  16. As much as I like modern stuff and look forward to modules like the F-18 and Eurofighter etc down the line, I have had as much fun with the P-51d as I have any other, more so than a lot of them in fact. For me DCS should not be limited to any time periods or aircraft types. It should just be the best representation of whatever ED and the third party developers choose to make. I love that we can jump into a Mustang and have all of the controls there to play with, she's a pig to fly at times but learning how she works and how to treat her right is all part of the fun and something I look forward to achieving one day. I'm happy edge is close, DCS does need a new engine, but once that is here and we have a better looking game with new features, I hope they continue to make a wide variety of aircraft, modern and old. For me, flying something like the Tucano that I can look up and see in my sky is as exciting as flying a Flanker, assuming the flight model and systems etc are as close as possible. This is the closest most of us are likely to get to flying these things and that is what DCS: World is to me. I love it for it....
  17. EVGA GTX680 superclocked. Has done me well, I'll update it when the Rift arrives if needs be.
  18. It does indeed... Thank you.
  19. I was just looking for mine, I haven't logged in before but figured I'd better choose my aircraft. Couldn't find a sausage....
  20. Interesting!
  21. Yikes, I'm surprised it survived, especially given the low altitude. Trainee pilot?
  22. Wow, very close, any idea what aircraft that is?
  23. I've got the 144hz Asus VG278HE, all I'll say is definitely go for the higher resolution screen, mine is 1920x1080. As fast and smooth as this screen is the res is noticeably poor against my old 24" screen.
