ECM blinking did not happen in FC2, Maddog to a certain extent.

I'd rather have that, than the crap that is now offered to us. :smartass: I mean, where's the fun in flying BVR combat when the missiles don't work as they're supposed to. You just end up being frustrated.

Oh dear, ED, these past two years have been a nightmare for AA missiles in general. Bring back the missiles from FC1/2 days for now until you get enough data to model AFM missiles and chaff/flares behaviour accurately. The situation is pretty pathetic as it stands now and really takes the fun out of flying BVR combat.

That's quite a tall order you ask of there and I understand you're passionate about it but DCS Mig29k is probably not going to happen anytime soon. First off, you're probably never going to get the data to model it to DCS standards and even if ED do get the data, I doubt the Russian Navy will allow ED to model a yet to be operational aircraft. :smilewink:

Please don't get AMD, for DCS especially. If you want to play with low frames in DCS, then go ahead. Ideally, you'd want to get an i7-4790k, possibly the fastest processor out there. It's costly but its worth every penny. If you can't afford that get an i5-4690k. Failing that, get an i3, even those are faster than AMD. You could probably get a bigger SSD say 256GB. Vid card, get an nvdia 970 if possible, if not a 750ti is adequate. I have the 750ti, it's pretty good but you can't turn all the graphics details to high. I was an AMD user earlier and I regretted buying AMD the day I put an Intel inside. The difference in DCS is night and day.

Only in a dogfight are both planes comparable. In BVR, the F/A 18 outclasses the MiG29. The MiG was built with a different purpose altogether.

350kph is too high. Try to approach at around 300kph and touchdown at 250kph to 270kph. Keep your VVI less than 5 m/s, ideally 3 m/s.

If your budget allows it, I suggest you go for the i7-4790k. No need to overclock and probably the best CPU around.

Frostie or Rage, maybe you guys can answer this, looking at the tacview, what happened to Soviet? Did he lose the aircraft during a combat turn or was it a de-sync issue?

The in-game tutorials are nice, but for more complete tutorials, I suggest you head over to flankertraining.com and download the videos and get better familiarized with the usage of the Su-27's weapons and radar. Although they represent the older versions of DCS, the principles and the systems are same. Here is a video of the same mission you are doing, done by Ironhand himself

Are you using AWACS or GCI in the mission? If so, it is a bug, a long, outstanding, and frustrating bug.

To the OP: do you own flaming cliffs 3? You can't fly mig29a with Mig21 module....

Given how secretive a military can be, I have my doubts, but I guess ED knows better since they probably have SMEs. I would still be nice if Yo-Yo can comment on this. I feel the same way, it just overreacts way too much.

Can any of the mods/testers get Yo-Yo to answer what parts of the flight model need to be tweaked (meaning what is currently wrong with the flight model, at least an acknowledgement of what is still left to be done with the flight model). It will just put to rest any further discussion/debate on this.

What I mean is you have to get the timing right...its last ditch but if you don't wait for the right moment, you still die. And yes, if you are in the situation you mentioned, you have done many things wrong and probably deserve to die..but there are times when all your wingmen are dead and you are left with probably a couple bandits on your tail, the cobra could possibly help take out at least one guy with you before you go down.
