  1. As I recall, the last time that Mitch dissapeared, it was because he had a serious illness. Hopefully that is not the case this time - fingers crossed.......
  2. LOPE is a very simple utility which will allow you to put any weapon on any aircraft. However it does not follow that there is always some code present in the Lockon executable to handle that aircraft/weapon combination. So sometimes a weapon will work, sometimes it won't. That is the nature of Modding software.........
  3. Nice summary LawnDart! Can I just point out however that NaturalPoint website shows FC as "This game is no longer available directly from NaturalPoint" and GoGamer shows it as "out of stock" as of 2008/06/30. If you are in Europe or even if you are not, then check out these other possible sources of FC on CD.... http://lockon.co.uk/index.php?end_pos=1322&scr=shop&lang=en&cat_sid=2 http://www.simw.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=dsp_product_details&pid=1338 As for patches, there is also, http://www.virtual-jabog32.de/index.php?section=downloads&lang=en which has a full set including the v1.12 patch for the verison of Lockon GOLD released in UK, Germany, France. They even have the Russian language version patches. Very thorough those JaBog32 boys :)
  4. agm - Nice one !! A cool picture of the Sherman Firefly. How can you differentiate the Firefly from regular Shermans? The 17-pounder gun has a much longer barrel, the hull machine gun position was deleted and plated over to give more ammunition storage - the 17 pounder round was much bigger and took up more space. More info here..... http://www.d-daytanks.org.uk/exhibits/sherman-ff.html
  5. Nice.... Especially like the Mi-8 skin. Watched the HUAF radar movie again. Did that Mod ever get finished and let out into the community? Would love to have that on my Lockon airfields as it looks pretty much like one of the radars I worked on.......
  6. 1) I tend to agree with Az' regarding RWR not showing range per se (rather showing power) and ensuring that noobs understand that difference. An analogy that always springs to my mind (not a very good one, but a laugh riot) is the episode of "Father Ted" where he explains to Dougal the difference between cows that look the same size, Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These [he points to some plastic cows on the table] are very small; those [pointing at some cows out of the window] are far away... 2) Regarding TEWS working together with the aircraft radar, the public source linked by Azrayen mentions "interoperability with the APG-70 radar". In my experience in the Defense industry, the primary meaning of the term interoperability is "they don't **** each other up when both are switched on". So my initial reaction to this statement is they mean it passes on jamming frequency information to the APG-70 so that the radar can choose an area of its frequency band to operate, so it is not affected by the jamming.
  7. Is it this? http://www.fleetairarmarchive.net/aircraft/Firefly.htm or for the older ones amongst us, maybe this? http://www.raf.mod.uk/equipment/firefly.cfm
  8. Strewth, it went for nearly 60 quid!! That's an insane price.....
  9. Russia looked 20% better with Archavin playing. The whole Russian team seemed half a second and half a yard faster all night. Now the question is can Hiddinck come up with the tactics to outfox Van Basten and the Dutch team?
  10. I vote 10, 9, 8, 7 in that order.....
  11. Wow! Terrific games today! Group of Death indeed!! And the results are not what everyone was expecting.....
  12. Heh,Heh, that's because you guys haven't seen how badly I fly. For me 30 deg IS a hard bank, I then lose what little situational awareness I have and usually pile into the ground......
  13. You probably think I am defending him because he was English and I am English, but no. I am defending him because I am also a Ref - I work in a different sport, not Soccer. Nevertheless, I watch a lot of Soccer and I thought he had a good game. The Polish goal WAS offside (Assistant should have seen it, not the fault of the Referee). There was another pretty obvious penalty that should have been given to Austria but the Ref couldnt have seen it, the camera behind the goals saw it clearly, another shirt pull. He didn't miss the one at the end. He was right to give it. Players need to learn they cannot grab shirts and pull opponents down at free kicks. He had stopped play before the free kick was taken and warned them already, so blame the dumb@ss player for doing it not the Ref for seeing it. Poko24 - when are you going to make another movie? Flanker still in my alltime top 5 Lockon movies....
  14. Well not always, I'm sure I recall reading on a Forum that sometimes if you bank very hard, it means the antenna of the Russian RWR cant see the missile anymore, and you might still be locked up. Record your track as normal and save it with some suitable name. Go into the Mission Editor, choose OPEN, then bottom right of screen you will see TYPE OF FILE, choose TRACK FILES. Navigate your folder structure to wherever you saved your track and choose your track by clicking on it, click on MAP, then (instead of pressing FLY) you choose (top left of screen) FLIGHT, VIDEO EDIT. Now you can go through the track, pressing S to pause / unpause the track whenver you want to make a change. While it is paused you can change camera views with the usual F1, F2, F3, F4, F5 etc view keys, zoom in / out, etc, F6 weapon view, F7 vehicles, F8 target view, F9 ships, F11 for airfield view - whatever you want. Shift F10 to switch labels on / off etc. If you use F2 external view, press Y twice to get rid of the status bar at the bottom of the screen before unpausing. You can use CNTRL/A to speed up the running through the replay if you have a long bit you don't wish to edit, ALT/A to slow down and SHIFT/A to return to normal speed. Be warned, occasionally changing views can change how the track replays and alter the outcome of the track i.e. a missile might miss when it hit previously! I think things like the use of helmet mounted sight is one of the problem areas, also the padlock command. Once you finish, save it with a different name to preserve your original track. Always best to delete / overwrite nothing till you are 110% sure you dont need it again ;) Obviously this all assumes you are starting the track in the Mission Editor. Starting one from the Training Menu does not allow you any sort of control. Sometimes a tracks views are locked, use a utility to unlock them. The original utility was called LOTU, then came LOTU v2.0, then LOME, then LOME v1.1 which is the latest version, link below... LOME v1.1 Link Hope this helps.....
  15. Nope, you are one of the good guys on the Forums you talk a lot of sense. As for Euro2008, Croatia beat us both times - no problems. If England cannot beat Macedonia at home or Israel away, then we don't deserve to be in Switzerland/Austria. Our choice of manager was poor that is a major part of it I feel. The English media wanted an English manager when Sven Joran Ericsson went. Our Federation should have told the media to get stuffed. I don't think English managers are currently good enough to work at the very top level. Look at the top 4 teams of the Premier League - Manchester United - Ferguson (Scottish) Chelsea - Mourinho(Portugal) / Avram Grant(Israel) Arsenal - Arsene Wenger(French) Liverpool - Rafa Benitez(Spanish) I don't care who is manager of England as long as he is successful, he can be from another planet for all I care, results are what matters. Ericsson took us to the last World Cup 1/4 finals and we were unlucky to go out to Portugal on penalties. Yet the media hated him simply because he was not English - absolute madness. Do Portugal have a Portugeuse manager? Do Russia have a Russian manager? Are THEY at Euro2008??
  16. I'm English and we're not even there, so I'll keep quiet about Euro2008. But there are other teams I happen to support..... ...and River Plate just won the Argentinian Championship (Torneo Clausura), so I do have something to cheer about!!
  17. What Odin said (but your country keyboard may have it different, you might have to figure out what key it is). One further thing regarding moving the target indicator is that it can get possibly confusing if you have multiple targets depending on how the Mission designer set them up. If you set up some vehicles or ships in a group then the Mission Editor treats that group as a single item when you use the TARGET button. Why am I telling you this? Well, when you are flying the mission and you have a group targeted then if you kill the 1st in the group, the diamond will move to the next in the group etc until all destroyed then moves to next TARGET'ed unit/group. If there are multiple targets in a mission, you can swap the diamond between them by pressing ' key (depends on your keyboard - anyway it is the same key that swaps airfields when you are in nav return mode). But remembering what I said earlier about a group of vehicles being regarded as one target, then if you had two groups designated as targets, it will swap between the 1st in each group. you can't move the diamond along the column of vehicles. Doesn't stop you bombing them, but the diamond will always point to 1st in the group. This can be kinda confusing until you get used to it.
  18. Kh-41 missile on Su-33 is fiction. Russian navy had wanted it but it never happened, no money......
  19. HB to Pilotasso.... http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=1ibrtEQEAKs
  20. Happy B'day to my fellow LockonFiles Moderator......
  21. No problem Sytse. Hope you enjoy the Tour....
  22. http://alacritypc.kensalter.com/index.htm Ken Salter is the author of the popular utility FSAutostart. It will shut down the Windows rubbish you don't need / want running while you are Flight Simming. Ken has released a sequel to FSAutostart called AlacrityPC, link above. I stumbled across it by accident and have not used it yet myself, but thought I'd let the Community know about it as it looks like it handles Vista as well as XP, 98 etc. If you have used it, then report back on this thread and let us know how it is....
  23. When I split Shepski's original Map Tour into two parts and republished back in 2005, I did the Caucausus Tour first, then a few months later completed the Crimea Tour. I did more background research for the Crimea Tour which includes a Word Document with descriptions and pictures of many of the real life sites represented in Lockon. The Caucasus Tour includes a few grainy photos and a small amount of background info. Be aware that the photos are in .art format, a rather old and rarely used AOL graphics compressed format. Internet Explorer should be able to display them, not much else can it seems. IronHand had never flown the Tours until last year - he liked the Crimea Tour so much he asked if he could make a video of it. When I visited him whilst on a trip to the USA in October 2007, he recorded my voice to be the guy in the Tower near the end. 24. Cant make your own moving trains, but the Viper has pointed you to Birdy's choo-choo research. It's a very nicely put together piece of work.
