All my sig is because of A10 and IL2 antecipation, since il2 is currently a flop we can say it was all A10c fault :D But wait its not over yet!!! i m building a generic pit, with chair metallic structure, plate base for peripheral a 37" TV, helios. a new card till years end and a10 front panel from Flim, if he sells it of course... where i to sum the costs of all that, i would cry. Talk about incentive to the economy ....sure is :) -
They are a bit small yes, but they do an honest price/quality job.
-
Sli or not sli that is the question!

You forgetting local taxes of import. Direct import will bring your 500 usd to 1.000 USD (80% over original price+fret+assurance if any), same price as local market, with higher risk. But anyway you answered my question, thank you Ethereal. -

Well it depends.. if someone as we ve seen here has triple 30" monitor or triple 42" TV + 1 22" monitor for gauges etc... you can bet 1 590 may even be on the short side. I myself now am asking if it would be better to wait a new card release and get a 580 hopping that it will drop down from its 967 USD. Or get on the spot another 460 msI hawk at 387 USD. At principle it shouldn t be a question, but as i live on a place where temp reach 40º c would it be a good idea ? As i asked in another thread...would my Hawk hold the line (not forcefully) at full with a 37" TV and a 22" monitor at the same time ? would 2 of them work ? Or should i be patient work as i can and get the 580 when time comes. -
Impressive documentation and project. Even if people may not use it in its totality it certainly cn generate ideas to adapt its own concept. I ll be studying it. Impressive progress too. Awesome!

Hi i m actually have a 460 twin froz msi hawk. I m trying to build my pit the idea is a 37" 1920x1080 TV + a 22 monitor for intrument only. I wonder how my video will fare. I know i should get a 580... but it starting not to be the rught time as end year aproaches and Nvidia and ATI will probably realease something dropping old boards price. I appreciate any input.

If you TV solution as you pretend be SURE that the choosen TV has a response i would be radical and says no more than 3ms. But it cannot surpasses 5ms refresh rate at all cost or you ll have ghosts especially with any quick change in the screen.

HuuuH? i would say the cheapest. Since we won t get any good stick replica....

I think thats even farther than the ability to switch throttle, until the Cougar is very low in their stock. Anyway i don t see much people shelling more bucks to buy a new Cougar especially now. Problem of having independent HOTAS system is: 1) why, can you really justify it ? (i know i can t, even to myself, because the A10 throttle system is already so complete) 2) Switch between one another; 3) Where to keep the unused system (at one time you will probably use 1 system only (more complete or more confortable) and what do you do of the other ?) 4) and when they launch another... throttle and stick (3ºone) with 75% of similarities or more will you buy it ? Anyway whatever the next DCS sim is, i really doubt will have a TM HOTAS for it, which could have been the case if throttle would have been intercheangable, not 100% of course but... All very speculative obviously, but still making sense, imho.

There s others minor diferences between LED X LCD.... energy consunption is one of them, aside from that what MOA said. Aside from that i would say the war beetween a monitor and a Tv is lost to the monitor in the future, they always will lead, but diference will become irrelevent. In my country for exemple a 27" LED monitor 1920X1080, 2ms, is 816 USD (asus vk278q) A 37" led TV 1920X1080 dito full hd ,2.4ms, is 1071 USD (LG - 37le5300) Monitor will be sharper yes, more contrast yes....will i notice it....probably not. So in the end its a question of $ and space. You can t stand as near a monitor in a so big screen and it near more space to be set. Its like video board...anything beyond 60fps ain t perceived by the eye... so why do you need 120 ? Its just marketing...

Free fall are you skydiver ? Men your setting surpass 85% of what people have here. Just buy yourself a good led TV with a quick response time, inferior to 3 seconds and your set. I m going to the 37le5300 as soon as i get someone to help me with my pit structure...Finally got the money to fire the project up. And even fully finished it wont be as good as yours, only 2 monitors. -
I got the saitek pro combat here and so far so good. The software aint stellar but it does the job. I still have CH pro shelved somewhere they started to spike madly after 3 years, i found them too narrow to be comfortable on extensive period. I own the saitek combat for now what 5 month. Apart the detent that can be removed, the are adjustable and having an open base for yout feets (nothing keeping your heels nor your toes enclosed is definitely an extra awesome plus, as the pedal angle, and friction adjustment.

I dont doubt it has been discussed, and i can imagine some reasons why it hasn t been done. Sincerely an interchangeable throttle only without changing the switches on the base would have been enought,(Switching only the "head" of the throttle.) and not having to rebuilt stuff from the ground would help a lot cost wise, and certainly would maintain or even push the sells over the years. It would have allowed TM to follow FCS evolution, and even work with some civie. IMO the f16 wouldn t made any sense since it would automatically dump all remaining Cougar in the dish. The f15 would have been a good idea, as stick is shared by the f18 and others. But i think the real lack is in the Russian side, a SU27/33/35 throttle/sick would sell like fresh bread. Now they ll have to wait for 3 to 5 years to think about release anything, and if someone rise in this in between time, with hall sensors and modularity, they ll be pants down and butt up.

Yep Beta is not gold people tend to forget that....

I wonder when someone will come with accurate view and not with this freaking dumb view of: "Shooting with the buttock in the middle of the chest."
-
Why weren t them strong enought with the Cougar ? Come on we re already near the 8000 units on SN on this site only. The only botch they have its the bricking which is their own fault. Cougar still sell nowadays... But your right we might see in some years, a new pair of controller. Not the way i would have thought business on this era, but thats not my problem. Modular throttle as the stick would have been a quick way to maintain sells over the years with other planes sticks.

Transformers hits ID4, on a Naval board battle game ?

Flim from SCsimulation own one.

From my brief flight rememberance on a prototype F18 e/F mil sim throttle are similar to the A10 but more elongated, very diferent feeling. The Stick was very similar to a F15. I can t comment on function the guys wasn t willing to spend time teaching anyone throttles and stick functions. He was more inclined to show the no hand off throttle automated landing system, the one screen only 20 or 22 touch screen MFCD functions and reduced system load in cockpit. I wouldn t hold my breath on TM realeasing anything. Especially because Throttle isn t interchangeable. But maybe we can dream of something with next ED release ?
