This conflict has turned in a great show for airforce display. But as someone sayd sometime, you dont win a war by air fire only. And thats what happening, only one city remains. If Gadafi sstrangle it, this petty revolution is over, which will strenghten other dictators in theyr resolutions to kill theyr own people.

You don t need to play to have conclusions, you just need to see the scope and what have been done. About combat: As presented now its... exactly the same as the combat of 20 years old space games. Phew Phew Phew, same as WW1 combat but without gravity. It doesnt seem very interesting. But as its in development, who knows. At least the cockpit presented in the tech demo is very nice and promising, it would be a shame if the game merely stay at gun stone age. Over the scope: If big MTFKR companies investing millions of dollars per year as EVE for example, that dont have all the: on the fly creation this game have, and arent able to keep it running smooth for the whole planet, what to say about a game that emulate a galaxy with systems, planets, landscape, cities and space objects created on the fly, while managing AI and players. Imagine the toll this would take on a server or a server cloud/cluster/whatever even with 100 people exploring unknown systems at the same time while 200 people engage in a massive combat agaisnt an AI and themselves at the same time like it is commonly seen on EVE. No server can support that without millions of dollars invested on it and most of all on infrastructure country wide or even worldwide. If not merely criticising on thin air, i m criticizing on present experience even if only watching people play THE MASSIVE MMO SPACE GAME. Now i dont think the world is ready or will be ready computationally speaking for such scope on MMO. But i really can visualize the greatest hit for space game if the scope is maintained for Single player and samll group of players and a very diverse world and strong AI. The scope IS awesome, the realization till now IS impressive, and is it continues this way it will be THE game that can supply a LIFETIME of gaming in this genre. Even incomplete what is shown is mindblowing on possibilities, the scope is SO wide with what already exist it has no limitation but tech ain t ready for MMO, period, and will NOT unless a damn freaking breaktrough is done on comunication. Most ambitious game project i can recall of. Now mind you when i saw MMO it is what sunken it. By the way i wouldn t be surprised if this guy is the same that is developing Evochron series, All is exactly the same but it seem way better developped with more care, more programers or more money or all the mores at the same time.

What headset you guys use ?
Succellus replied to Succellus's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
This is really enticing. I tired to have to untwit the wires : Mic wire, Tir wire, headset wire. The take it off hang it put it on keep twisting the wires. -
Isn t distance limited to 2.5 Km, and the engine limited in scope outside the flying path ? And yeah zoom and boom is always a great tactic, thats why Rommel or Richtoffen insisted on it. And it stayed that way until missile BVR battles.

Hehehe Docsigma. I agree that the space sims are really cheezy on procedural and as i ve said somewhere, they are all too much WW2 like. few to no missiles or countermeasure. But i a bit agaisnt you too, i have enought reality with DCS not being a real pilot. And anyhow they dont even know how to do a HUD or a HMD with integrated info... much less something as complex as DCS. But i lounge for a greater kind of armement, defense system, countermeasures and the like. Imagina a slow missile designed to pass force field and then upon sensing realease a flechete like ogive build up to pierce hull and emitt EMP or simply high blast. As it is slow it can very well be blasted away by fighters or defense battery, but if it hits the main deck... So many possibilities...so much waste of potential.

Um seems what Helios does. And helios is now free. But then i may be wrong.

I will post on the site, but i hope they ll have: tripple monitor support, Track ir support, Multi USB controler support, Newton Physics, which will call Diferencial integrated thrust (since you need them to turn your spacecraft) which mean the hability more or less present to slide vertically or horizontally. Since one guy can do it Evochron online why big companies can t ? And i really would like they bring actuall tech brought forward, even if those are ingame payd upgrades: HUD display and HIFD (Helmet integraded feature and displays) - this will be a blast with track ir. I m tired of old WW2 style awesomely advanced cockpit. tTe 3d map in X series is awfully horrible. Painfully old, even the old X-wing had a better scheme for situational awareness. 1 display to show whats in front of you and another to show what is back. Easy and intuitive solution.

I went to see this infinity-Universe, looks like Evochron but with funds ( i mean someone to invest real cash), as the game ain t near to be somewhat ready, as the engine ain t ready neither. Arght its an EVE....MMO real time combat...Just pray your connection is good enought, i m out. And so far combat is... boring. Now imagine 3000 people spreading out and dinamically exploring the galaxy at the same tima while 500 other engage in combat.... Lllllllllllllalalalalalalaalllllalalalalallllllaaaaaaaalalalalalaglglglglglgl Death of game...a pity.

My councel, be gentle with grand dad, fly it slow if you have to aim, remember that whe you point down you get speed, and those old matchboxes couldn t take much of a rush. Remember the aim wasn t that great too, fire only if you can see the white of the eyes driver. If you can smell the pilot your pursuing fart when it see you at his six then it time too shoot. Another tactic is to be good on leading, leading is a dificult art. I was able to shoot down 2 birds on my second instant action, end up crashed, and i m waiting for DC. I m in no rush... i really need my pit, i m not enjoying flying ankward anymore.

I m waiting, i haven t put a real head in this genre. I liked evochron merc, then this. For me, to be interested, it has to deliver at least what Evochron does: Tripple monitor facility, Track ir support, Multi USB controler support. Newtonian physics, with straf movements possibilities (even if not really relevant its a nice adition.) And IF possible: Multi throttle (dual) support. Something noone have done to this day, would be spaceship design, you own your money and you design the features and SHIP GENERAL appearance (including paint) of your ship. Its a single player game after all. By the end of the year... by them i ll have my harley or my pit...good timing. Fly simmer fly everything, even if its a baththub with a turbine :D, so its normal there s some fuss.

Succellus replied to sofie_59's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
thanks, not for now but future seem to be this way for me. -
OMFG !!! Awesome!!! If i was building my pit i would buy one. Have to wait up to July to have a clear picture. A question, on the first picture of the page we see TM MFD, comparing the helios CMFD size of the picrure and the TM free view MFCD, how do theu compare ? Another question, whats the size of the monitor your using for systems. And, at least and last, do you use tripple monitor ?

Thrustmaster Cougar MFD Backpanel-Art
Succellus replied to JaBoG32_Prinzartus's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Usually those who have them are looking for a monitor to put behind them, and use them as real MFCD. -
England also lost some vessels. I don t know how much an exocet would work nowadays, not agaisnt subs obviously...

Damn ! How did i not think of it!!!!!

My first sim was.... Atari River Raid :D OK, not much of a sim. It was the mighty all framewire Fly Solo for Commodore 64, my first just because i bought it. The first i played was F15 Strike eagle for comodore 64 also, but i didn t even had a PC. Second game was F14 tomcat still commodore 64. Then i acquired an awesome for its time 486 DX 33 and many came, the one i am very fond is the F14 Fleet Defenfer. But my all time hearty game is EF2000 V2. (I also had the V1)

Or you can leave it alone :D I use it as a modifier and reprogramed the pinky button. So now instead of 2 active position it has 4.

Mirage 2000 stick for HOTAS Cougar
Succellus replied to Buzzz's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
This is strange and was in the mirage 2000-BR (5) also. The vertical throttle. As i didn t fly nor the Rafale nor the Mirage simulator, i can t have an opinion of what it is to fly like that. I just think the RU/USA throttle is ergonomicaly more rational than the french one, especially when your on a multi engine plane. OTOH, the f-18 simulator i flew at Brazilian LAAD 2011 last week has 2 joystick as redundant pilot control. But as it was a "conceptual cockpit" not actually in production, i don t know how it really is. In this cockpit pratically all was automated...1 like 30" CMFD for pilot and operator separated in 3 distinct areas with diferent functions, no redundancy in system at all. If the MFCD screw the pilot or operator is blind but for the HUD infos(not present for the operator). I found this quite risky on such a costy project that a military fighter plane is. What i did NOT like is the Grippen throttle, its "suspended " on the air by 2 metallic bar where it slide on (one above and one under). As the throttle is heavy, it require heavy greasing or it becomes ankward to move slightly as you have to produce some strenght to move it and if it grips it will jump back or forward, way beyond your intent. -
SoftTH 2.xx explained at a example configuration
Succellus replied to PeterP's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Helios would be to configure the lower display with gauges sensors and what not i consider relevant for my flying. SoftTh would be for tripple monitor. Thats why i m asking. -
Bah there will be another sale next year anyway...or christmass sales.
