Yepp, that is what i ment. @hornblower793, You can try it out yourself. Look in a mirror, Hide your fear, and dare to look in your mirrored eyes. You will see exactly where youre eyes are directed at (i hope). Then .. stare at the top of your head ..don't cheat. And, when looking at the top of youre head, try to make out where your eyes in the mirror are pointed at.. I found it surprising how little whe can see sharply, without moving our eyes. Pheriferal vision is very sensitive for moving things, that draws our attention en then whe can verry fast turn our eyes to sweep the area and gat a sharp picture in our head.
-
I hear you but, as you said, If you look at your hair in the mirror you are not looking at your eyes, so you won't see the position of your eyes at that moment. I agree..Only if you look exactly straight in your eyes in the mirror, you can see the postion of your.. eyes. The FOV of real human eye is very..very small, whe only see sharp in a very small area at a time, so whe have to sweep our "Scan" constantly to get the big picture. So..in VR the eyes could allways be pointing at you..(you won,t notice that), until you look directly into the "scary" eyes of your avatar in the mirror. If i would look in the mirror into my own eyes IRL, and they would look somewhere els,..whell... THEN I WOULD BE SCARED for sure !!
-
I know dose solutions..and it doesn't really bother me. Its just not realistic to see a first person avatar reflection not looking back. If it was more realistic and you are bothered by "the stare". ..you can drop the visor... Just joking... for that last part.., i can live with visor down. Buuuttt, if it is not a big problem to fix the eyes ..I would find that great
-
I think there is no eye tracking input neccesary. The eyes in the mirror just allways look at youreself. Even if you are not looking in the mirror. (then you are not seeing it ). So the mirror would be a fixed reference point for the eye direction. Then for you it would be realistic. For somebody looking with you, it would look wrong. ..but in VR that is no factor. But again ..no Reason to ask for a refund
-
I know it is a bit to much to ask, but if the eye direction in the mirror would be realistic, the reflection would be scary real i think . I mean..If you look in a mirror, your eyes wil allways look straight back at you. I can imagine that it wil be difficult to program the eye view direction so that it stays directed towards the viewer while the head is turning, but it would be great in my opinion. Again, maybe to much to ask for... but hey..Heatblur started it ! Regards..

The starting view height in relation with the crew body is to low. If i look to the side i am to low between my shoulders. It can be corrected with the cockpit cam position, but it is a bit unnatural to have to install a neck every time before flight Thanks.

Oke I think i may have found a solution for the problem. In "Varjo Base" i had only OpenXr Activated in the 'Compatibility" section when i had the problem of DCS crashing when i took af the headset. When i also activated OpenVR the problem was gone,So:.. with both OpenXr and Open VR Activated i can take off the headset and even restart it while in DCS and continue the flight Hope you can solve this in the same way. Greetz

Yep..same irritating problem here at the moment. I tried to fool the headset by putting a cloth in it when i'm not wearing it, that seems to work.... partially. DCS doesn't crash if i do that but, sometimes..not allways.. i loose the functions of the buttons on the headset, and i'm not sure if eye tracking is working than. worth a try...maybe ?

VIAF 2023 - Heatblur F-4 Phantom II Surprise Airshow Demo
P3CFE replied to IronMike's topic in DCS: F-4E Phantom
A very original way of promoting the aircraft with the professional commentary, enjoyed it very much I Want to give my compliments to the Pilot flying the Phantom in the demo. Really good control of the aircraft during the whole show in my opinion. It shows that he's got a very good feeling for the F4 he's flying. It was a Joy to watch If I got the Phantom delivered i'm going to practice until i can do the same, Ik know Its gonna be hard but fun -
Thanks..then i know i can stop figuring out the saving option....in a way!
-
Hello, I realy did search a lot before starting this topic, but found no working answer. I want the headposition of the pilot higher and more taft, i do that by changing the cockpit camera position. Until now, i can not save the position bij RAlt +Num 0. Am i doing something wrong or is it broken in a way. Hope someone has a working solution for this. Thank you

Thanks again for the replies: Yep it is an old Module, DCS has gotten so much better these days and ED gotta lot to do . I still hope that they will keep taking care of the old modules too. The Huey and the Sabre could use some grafical upgrades like they did with A10 and the KA50. By the way.. I found the best head position for the Sabre , I Allign the bottom rim of the compass with the top of the HUD glass, that seems to be the most realistic, head Height. Than i still have to lean down to see the reticle, but i can live with that, just the way it was and is then Thanks again you all. Happy landings

Oke, thanks for the answers, it remains a bit odd to me. The Fact that the outside view shows the pilots normal ( head above the shoulders) and if i go in Cockpit, in VR ,the head is much lower and at a height between the shoulder blades is strange. It would be better if not just the head position, but the whole seat height could be adjusted i think. But Oke..there are bigger problems to worry about Thanks
-
Head positon at start, is as if i head my head at the height of my shoulder blades. When i then look from the side with F2 view the head of the piot looks to be normal and much higher. If i than adjust the cockpit cam to a heigher position, so that, if i look right and left i can look over my shoulders, the view on the instrument panel looks much to high. The hud is impossible to use then, you can never see the reticle. i think something is off here, its weird. somone else an idea about this ? John

Wrong cyclic Rotor blade movement with rotor stopped.
P3CFE replied to P3CFE's topic in Bugs and Problems
It was mentioned allready a long time ago, but the blades of the main rotor move up end down with cyclic movement when the apu is started and the rotor is not turning . It is a very unrealistic sight. Only the blade angle should increase/decrease if the cyclic is moved. If the rotor is at flight RPM the changing blade angle wil make the rotor cone tilt, but not if the rotor is stationary. Hope it wil be fixed ..it looks very unrealistic and strange -
Exhaust Gas Temperature rising to early when startup engine.
P3CFE replied to P3CFE's topic in Bugs and Problems
Okee, tried what you said..but that isnt working for me, i get the throttle just below idle and i get the same indications ie immidiate lightoff at 2% or so..not possible in real life.. When i was xperimenting with in between postions like halfway fully closed and idle throttle, i at one time, even got a very high EGT and no rotation of the rotor the engine seemed decoupled and burning everything inside it. The whole starting fase mechanics of the Huey is very off in my opinion. That beeing said, i think the huey is the best helicopter in dcs because of the flight model. But things like the start mechanics and the grafics of the interior need an upgrade the huey is worth it i think. -
Exhaust Gas Temperature rising to early when startup engine.
P3CFE replied to P3CFE's topic in Bugs and Problems
thanks for the reply Throttle position is idle. according to normal procedures (but i could be wrong here !) I wish i had flown a Huey but.. no i did not. I started a Bo 105 heli once, but then lightoff was ocurring at the moment i moved the throttle lever to idle. However, n1 was allready above 10 % then, because of the starter that was activated some seconds before pushing the throttle to idle. In the DC huey, before start, i turn the throttle above idle and then back to the idle stop. Then i push the starter..(again..i think this is the normal procedure in the huey) Then immidately the egt rises at the first 1 % of rpm. This is impossible in real life because the mixture in the gasproducer is not correct at that moment to get a light of. Normally there also should be a safety in the fuel system to only let fuel pass through the fuel nozzles if n1 rpm is above a range wich provides enough air for a good mixture. if fuel is allowed into the combustion chamber without enough air (no or little %n1) you wil have a big chance of a burn through in the combustion section....(just a flame slowly burning without beeing noticed by the thermal sensors.) So it seems wrong to me with the huey at the moment. -
At the moment almost imediately after pressing the startbutton the ECT rises. In real life this would scare the hack out of me Normally, at about 10 percent engine rpm, Fuel flow is innitiated, and only than ignition of the mixture is possible. Small stuff i know, but i don't think it is very difficut to correct, and hee...all for realism right

Oke, got the eyetracking back operational on the Varjo. Followed the instructions on this site ( Home · mbucchia/Varjo-Foveated Wiki · GitHub). Not exactely sure what did the trick..., but it works finenow, gives me 10 to 15 frames extra, wich is never a bad thing So this problem is Solved
-
Thanks for the reply. Do you also have the moving areas in view with night vision ? I was looking for that when Troubleshooting the eye tracking. Even with nightvision i don't have any indicatiion that eye tracking is working, everything is rendered the same. Very strange...
-
Hello, Eye tracking in the varjo is not working anymore in dcs after last update. It is normally functioning in the Varjo base program but in DCS it is not. This is the case in MT and Non MT and in all the grafical settings. Das anybody have any idea about this ?

In the real f16 the JFS Starting circuit is open (No Start possible),when the "exhaust door" is not Fully open. When the JFS Start switch is positioned in start 1 or 2, And the exhaust door is fully open, the start circuit is closed, and the Accumulator (s) begin depleting to the hydraulic starter motor. Note: The intake and exhaust doors are mechanically linked together, so move as one. Thanks already.

Aha, couldn't find any thing about it in the forums ! Hard to fix than i think, but maybe well never know then..
-
Yep, i have already mentioned this a while ago within "Apache bugs", When i tried out other modules, i saw that this bug is present in other modules also, and placed it in the DCS world bugs list also. I had no reply on it yet. good luck, John
