I checked mine and it had not re-enabled. Registry entry is still there.

No HCS packs for your pilot or Jester. Vaicom does have the option to mute your pilots voice (while still showing your response in the upper left corner. Somewhat similar to the HCS voice packs is VaicomPro's "chatter" function. This can be turned on or off via keyboard or just say "chatter". When it is turned on you will hear background radio chatter that is consistent with the mission you are flying (carrier ops, WWII, etc.). Flying solo missions it adds to the immersion.

I have been using VR in DCS for about two months, being new to both. For me a godsend was the VaicomPro used with VoiceAttack. The paid version is less than $30 dollars and includes interactive kneeboards. These kneeboards automatically switch to whatever element you are communicating with, such as ATC, Air refueling, crewchief, JTAC, etc. The kneeboard automatically writes down all transmissions you receive, it has a notepad you can dictate on, and best of all the kneeboards have the voice commands listed on them. For instance, I give the voice command "kneeboard" and it pops up. I then say "texaco" and the kneeboard switches to the air to air refueling page with all the relevant voice commands listed. When I call texaco its response is written down on the kneeboard for me...no memorizing! Add to that some basic kneeboard editing, that you can do for each aircraft, and will not have a need for pen and paper in DCS anymore. The only other issue you might have is not having enough buttons on your controllers for some aircraft. Again you can either use VoiceAttack to fill in the gap or consider different controllers.

It is good to have the controllers to try some other games. Helps you see what the G2 can do with optimized VR games. I enjoy BeatSaber as a diversion. AirCar is free on Steam and is a great VR experience to show off your G2.

Will HP Reverb G2 run smoothly on a 2070o8G GPU?
Tshark replied to RglsPhoto's topic in Virtual Reality
I am using a Reverb G2 with a RTX 2070 8Gb black edition. I am getting the same fps and frametimes with 2.7 as I did with 2.5. On the F/A-18 Supercarrier Persian Gulf cold start (my bench mark mission) I was initially was getting 30 to 38fps and 20 to 22 ftms. I reinstalled the kegety shader mod and I am back to 38 to 45fps and 16 to 19ftms. This is on the loaded carrier deck with two F/A-18s taking off in front of me. DCS PD 1.1, SteamVR General at 100%, SS DCS specific at 38. Still doing some tuning as well. -
Do the shaders (Reshade, kegety) need to be reinstalled after update?

I am only about 5 month into DCS and come from a similar perspective as the OP. I have always preferred WWII aircraft since my Genie AirWarrior days and still play Aces High and IL2. Since I was not a "jet guy", I was reluctant to get into DCS. The first modules I bought were the P-51, Spitfire, and F5 Tiger II. I bought the F5 because I always liked the aircraft and thought it would be a good transition to jets. A couple months later I bought the F/A-18. If I had to do it over again I would skip the F5 till later. While I do enjoy the F5 there is too much of a technical gap between it and the "current" fighters for it to be a viable stepping stone. The F/A-18 would be my suggestion for first jet module. It allows you to learn everything. Air to air, air to ground, airfield ops, carrier ops, and aerial refueling. The A-10 misses out on the aerial refueling and carrier ops. The F-14 has some antiquated munitions and several key sensor systems are handled by A/I rather than you learning them. The F/A-18 has a wealth of tutorials (both in game and on the internet). There are also many single player quick missions available within DCS for the F/A-18 that cover all of the above mentioned tasks. When you are ready to try multiplayer there is no shortage of F/A-18 missions/servers out there. I found I liked jet flying much more than I thought I would. The F/A-18 module will give you everything you need to learn the different aspects of modern jet warfare. Lots to sink you teeth into!

I am tempted to try this, but with 2.7 coming out soon it will be a whole new ball of wax.

Have you tried contacting VR WAVE? I have had mine for about two weeks and not had any problem with them falling off.

People are looking for the "Holy Grail one-size-fits-all" of DCS VR settings and the state of the technology just isn't there yet. There is an old saying that "A person's perception is their own reality" and this certainly applies to VR. We each have our own sensitivity to video presentation. When you also have to account for face shape, eyesight acuity, computer hardware and software, VR becomes a VERY personalized endeavor. The settings are easy enough to play with, so keep notes and try them out. I founds settings that worked for me by using info from several sources including the Lukas video's as a starting point, but they were not the final settings I ended up with. I really appreciate the effort the participants of this community put into sharing their experiences. Thank you Jabber for providing the math. Lukas S your video helped me as well....Thanks!

I too was wearing progressive eyeglasses with my Reverb G2 and had the same issue. Just got my lenses from VR WAVE and they are great. More comfortable in VR without wearing glasses and full use of the "sweet spot". VR WAVE provided nice quality lenses with a hard case, good prices, excellent customer communication, and it took just 17 days to get them.

Just got my lenses in from VR WAVE. Very happy with the quality. Good prices. They come in a hard case and it took 17 days from ordering to having in my hands. Their customer communication is top-notch. I forgot to include a copy of my prescription when ordering and they were right on it. There are discount codes for 5% off through several YouTube sites including MRTV.

I have owned my Reverb G2 and love it for DCS. I am running a RTX 2070 card and I like the picture/performance. It is a lot of money for VR and there are many questions (system capability, comfort, eyeglass accommodation, etc.) that can only be answered by actually trying it out yourself. I suggest you find a retailer that has a 30-day no question refund policy. I was able to find this through Walmart, but Amazon and the Microsoft store also have the same policy.

A real time clock to go with the total mission time would be excellent!

Exactly! That is why a lens spacer is great. It protects both.

I have been using bifocals with the Reverb G2 for the past month. It is workable, but I think it does restrict the "sweet spot" some. I have ordered prescription lens inserts to make it more comfortable and allow me to try different face gaskets. The VR lenses can be scratched by your eyeglasses. If you want to stick with your glasses, I would recommend a lens protector. These are plastic spacers that fit around the VR lens to keep your glasses from contacting them. You can find sellers on Etsy or you can print your own on a 3D printer.

Thanks for the review! My only concern will be if my prescription lens inserts will fit.

I really like the kneeboard addition to Vaicom Pro. Well worth the money for someone new to Vaicom just for the phrase cheat sheet on each tab. If the dictate voice commands could be listed on the "Notes" tab it would great!

You might try this: https://3dwardprinting.com/ I plan on trying it once I get my prescription inserts. I did purchase the VRCover Frankenfov mod, but found the light leak around the nose to be distracting. Hope this helps

In-Game Scratchpad Mod Available - Works Great In VR!
Tshark replied to Fubarbrickdust's topic in Virtual Reality
Move your VR dot to the edge of the text screen and drag to resize. Treat it like any window. -
You will use SteamVR, but you do not have to put DCS in your Steam library. SteamVR and Windows Mixed Reality are two free programs that you will download from Steam and use. The DCS stand alone version works just fine. You start SteamVR first then start DCS like you normally would. Hope this helps

May I ask where you purchased your G2 and their return policy? I would like to try the G2 (I tried the Rift several years ago), but will not do so until I can find a company with a good return policy in case I feel as you do.
