  1. When watching carrier landing videos from real life, the plane bounces violently after touchdown. While in DCS, the landing gears seem to absorb all the impact energy like a champ. Same thing with the plane when moving on the ground because the plane is really steady. If we can make the plane more bouncy and mimic the "roughness", that would be nice imo.
  2. I experienced this problem today.
  3. I guess at the end of day, the question here is how sensitive Hornet radar should be to missiles. Of course there is always the possibility theoretically, but it seems like many players do not feel this is an accurately enough presentation. To me personally though, it somewhat makes the game dull because I can tell when enemy missile is off the rail in almost every engagement. I am no military expert, but I kinda feel this is shouldn't be this way.
  4. Thanks I will give it a try. But it’s annoying af. Update: Changing from 4 to 8 didn't really help unfortunately.
  5. Hello Bignewy, After today's patch, the behavior is still there. I created a mission specifically for this. Single target, 2 AMRAAMs were fired. I used a narrower scan area so that lower refresh rate allows better observation. Track file is attached. I uploaded another video here for anyone is interested. The first "flickering" occurred at 0:24. Then the second series of strange behavior occurred starting from 1:36. After missile went pit bull in second launch, the TTG timer went up to 25 seconds even though bandit didn't maneuver. I am fairly amateur so this is beyond my understanding. Can you please help push this investigation further? Thank you 2.trk
  6. Right? I experience this every single time. Not even exaggerating a bit. I waited weeks before reporting it cuz there is always someone reporting bugs ahead of me. Then I saw no related post. I guess we are very extreme cases?
  7. Track file is attached. Youtube link is here. Although in this example, there are more than one bandits. However, it also happens when there is only one. I don't know if it has anything to do with my own missile being scanned by plane's radar. Also, it almost happens 100% of the time. 1.trk
  8. Can you elaborate how it's going to work in a perfect scenario?
  9. I saw this kind of shadow on the ground on PGAW server. It doesn't seem to move. Not sure if it's been reported. I also noticed cloud shadow "teleporting", but wasn't able to record it.
  10. Yesterday I accidentally used half flap during landing and yes, I feel the real ground effect. It feels so right. This bug annoys me more than anything else so I really hope they can fix it soon. Btw what is "FM" corrections?
  11. Yeah I get the part where flaring in Hornet is not recommended. But is the ground effect issue a bug that is recognized by ED?
  12. I wish the Hornet behaves the same at touchdown as other planes so that we can keep the nose up for a while as air brake.
  13. I apologize for not knowing the drill very well cuz this is my first time reporting crash related issue. I managed to find a zip file on the day of 21st. But no zip file can be found for the game freeze on 25th. In the meantime, I will try repairing my game. And I successfully added DCS to exclusion list. Thanks again. dcs.log-20210520-041558.zip
  14. That's kind of a problem here, as my game usually don't "crash". It just freezes up and doesn't respond. However, I am attaching a crash report that generated on the first day of 2.7.1 dcs.20210521-031428.crash
  15. 2.7.1 is actually the first time I experience consistent crash. I just updated Window 10 to the newest today but game still froze up about 5 minutes into the mission. However, not everytime was a "crash". I'm attaching all the files from log folder that are generated today. I am attaching a crash report from the first day of 2.7.1. However there is no crash report most of the time as the game didn't technically "crash". dcs.log DCS-SRS-GameGUI.log DCS-SimpleRadioStandalone.log DCS-SRS-InGameRadio.log dcs.20210521-031428.crash
  16. Wow, that's a lot more inconvenience than before. However if this is correct and realistic as of right now, I have to accept reality. Is there a way to assign markpoints to individual bomb so that I can drop them quickly without choosing a markpoint each time when dropping a bomb? Because you know sometimes ground units moves when one of them is under attack. So all the bombs really have to be landing within a short time frame.
  17. Morning Bignewy, multiple players reports that JDAMs (maybe JSOWs cuz I have not tested them) cannot save coordinates from ATFLIR or LITENING POD in TOO mode. Is it confirmed as a bug yet?
  18. I have yet to find a way to save coordinates from ATFLIR to JDAM after today's patch. This is baffling.
  19. You are not alone. It's been like this since I started playing DCS more than a year ago. But in the last days of 2.5, the lighting in VR was better. However in 2.7, it gets worse imo. The IFLOLS is unreadable beyond 1/2 mile, and a jet with position light on appear to be as big as a giant lantern even at 10 miles out. I gave screenshots of IFLOLs to Bignewy the other day on Discord, and he said he was going to look into it. But lighting is such a big part of game codes that I do not recommend getting your hopes up.
  20. Thank you for pointing that out. I think you are correct. I timed more recent DCS clips and it's now around 2.8 seconds. Strangely I've barely noticed it personally. I think maybe it's because of the beginning of shoot. If it can be a little more "gentle" at the first 0.1 seconds, that can make up the additional 0.2 - 0.3 seconds. Anyway, I am not going to ask for more at this point. It's a little quicker than it should be, but still an amazing experience as I previously said.
  21. That’s amazing work. I also compared other real life videos of F35 and F14 launching, and they are also around 3.2 seconds. I noticed how violent DCS launch was the first time I hopped on, but I didn’t have enough confidence to point it out until now. I also noticed catapult compressing landing gear during shooting in real life resulting negative AoA, but in DCS jets seem to have a perfect 0 degree AoA while accelerating. But I guess that might be too much to ask from ED for now. So I thought the acceleration thing could be an easier improvement despite that it’s not critical. But it can certainly make carrier ops even more immersive.
  22. When comparing real life videos with DCS clips, I have reasons to believe DCS catapult acceleration is much faster than what it is in real life. After sampling random clips from Youtube, I noticed it takes about 2.2 seconds for a hornet to run through the catapult, whereas the time in real life videos is about 3.2 seconds. In game, it feels especially "off" at the very beginning, when the plane literally gains speed immediately upon launch. It is more like a bullet from barrel instead of slingshot. I hope this is an easier optimization for developers. Btw I really love new catapult sound in 2.7. For everyone's reference, here is Wag's DCS clip from Youtube, and here is a real life cockpit video for comparison.
  23. Oof. I really like the 2.7 update in general, but I have to say a lot of things are broken since 2.7 Cloud jitter, lacking contrast in VR, low quality of night lighting, and things like this are not easy fix. I really feel ED should slow down a little bit and make the game back on track again before hyping upcoming maps and modules.
  24. I think I know what he meant. TPOD, AG mode. Selecting a way point to designate makes TPOD aim at that way point with a diamond in the center. However if I move TPOD to another location, TDC depress doesn't bring out the diamond anymore. Although coordinates can be copied over to JDAMs.
