Where are the DTC and mission planning tools
Gruman replied to Harlikwin's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Oops. Thanks pointing that out.missed that quote. At least it looks like all devs will use the same format, thats good. Curious if the M2000c is the first iteration of this system or just a stopgap? -
Where are the DTC and mission planning tools
Gruman replied to Harlikwin's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Thanks, but thats basicly the point of this Topic, isnt it? The DTC (Data Transfer Cartridge) and Mission Planner, which is in the works since like... ever. And we only saw a small "preview" years ago. Basicly what the OP of this topic said in the first sentence. And I posted this link already, where you replied with a Push... -
Where are the DTC and mission planning tools
Gruman replied to Harlikwin's topic in DCS Core Wish List
I'm not talking about magical transfer between aircrafts via Datalink. (F16, F18 can share waypoint, markpoints etc). My usecase: A online squadron has a mission night. Mission builder sets the stage, the flight leads will make the planning. Now the flight leads plan their flights. Fills the Mission Data Cards for everybody. All this is happening before any pilots even open DCS. At the moment there are two options: - Mission Builder puts in the work to place down the waypoint for each flight - The squadron looses 15 minute of the mission time because all pilots have to type in X-Amount of waypoints IRL the pilots just have their datacards with their regular flightplan loaded. This is what I would like to have. The M2000c now provides this possibilities. The Viggen has a similiar system in place since years. When do the rest get this option? -

So I guess the answer to my question is No. Alright. Sure, setup waypoints on the F10 is nice as well, but doesnt really help much with planning before the flight and share it with the whole flight. (from Combat Flite as an example). -

I got the JF-17 since release. Only flew it once. Is the JF-17 able to load a number of waypoints from an external source (example Text File send over by the flight lead) and import it? All other options are of course nice. But are those options available from outside the sim as well? Or do you always have to go back to main menu to change things and hop back into the cockpit and load the cartridge? -

Well, Razbam M2000c did receive a basic implementation of a DTC a while back. Waypoint import via Text File. You can even choose from different Data Cartridges to load. Bailey already made a ingame tool for it: Link This would at least make multiplayer mission planning way easier. Please ED and other 3rd party Devs? -
Awesome tool. Many thanks. I hope basic DTC functionality like this will be added to all modules sooner or later.

Where are the DTC and mission planning tools
Gruman replied to Harlikwin's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Good speculation. But we dont know. Only the F-18 was showed. All the other are still "unknown". Sure, 3rd party would update their modules as soon as the DTC would available for them. But will it be available for 3rd party and will ED update older modules? We don't know. DTC Function for A-10C was stated as "not planned" in a DTC topic. Could simply mean we only get it on the A-10C II, but its not a great start. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but this is the only Information we ever got: Hornet Mini-Update from February 2019 -
Where are the DTC and mission planning tools
Gruman replied to Harlikwin's topic in DCS Core Wish List
If the GUI and stuff still takes time, let us use other tools. A way to quickly import a universal text file to setup everything in the plane would be a great start. The Countermeasures works the same way, so I think its plausible that the DTC will work similiar?! Plenty of tools arrived by the community when configurations like Countermeasures etc were accessable. Please -

Any news? The hornet got a WIP shot for the Data Cartridge I think back January 2019? A lot should have progressed since then, right? Whats the plan? What aircrafts will be covered? Will it be universal? How about the mission planning features? -
Many thanks @sirrah and @HC_Officialfor your opinion. But I did order the Plus version. My reason: Friend has the plus and he would buy it again (additional generic analog Axis is nice) The look. The Non-Plus looks very boring. I might try add Analog Zoom and View Reset on thd idle button. Might work when not in VR Well, now the waiting game has started.

Moving from TM to Virpil how simple is it to use in DCS
Gruman replied to Hotdognz's topic in VIRPIL Controls
Yep. Just wanted to let you know in case you didnt knew it yet. Enjoy the superior base. -
After all those months, your opinion is still the same, correct? Still no use for the twist throttle? Thanks.
-
Why not a Virpil Base for the grip, a long bended extension? Attach some oil dampers to the extension? Almost no centering force, but the grip shouldnt move. No trim needed. You can still swap out grips as you want. Just an idea. Not my setup. I'm happy with my extended Virpil Base with a Hornet Grip.

You are aware that the Virpil Base does accept the Warthog grip, right? So you wouldnt even need to get used to this constellation grip. Just checking :). -
To late and not worth the shipping. I had the collective open. Bad design is a bad design. Nothing fixable about that. Simply wanted to point this out so Markturner doesnt throw out 2000£. It's usable with some fixes, but I'm planning a swap to Virpil in the future.
-
I assume you are mostly looking for a cyclic, correct? Since you have the Virpil Collective already?
-
Of course. But got excuses like "bad batch". Then he dissapeared for some time, said he was moving. So more excuses. After a couple of months, I simply gave up. I undusted the collective for the AH-64. It kinda works. Just not worth the amount of money. - Friction System doesnt work smoothly. Had to improvise with counterweight or steering dampner - Twist Throttle was blocked after the third movement - 3d Plastic feels cheap, including the 8 way dome switch - The used Leopodnar Board was not mounted correctly. Couldnt even access the USB Port on arrival. Had to unscrew the cover to fix it myself. Btw, Nice setup :).
-
I sure hope Komodo has improved their quality in the last 8 years, because otherwise you would be dissapointed by what you get for that kind of money... I wouldnt pay 100£ for my Komodo V1 UH1 Collective, if I've seen it before purchase.

Thanks for the update. Looking forward using the kneeboard. On a small screen (Mobile Phone), the "KNEEBOARD" button will sit over the "ALT" button. I assume this won't be a problem with displays larger than 6-7". Any news if/when Marianas will be added? Thanks
-
Just a tip. A hairdryer is sometimes helpfull to remove the sticker. And you might be able to read out the serial number via windows?! Would have to check myself whenever I get the chance.

Well, as soon as you try trackIR you will miss the 1:1 tracking of the VR Headset. Just so natural. But obviously you won't have a choice with TrackIR, simply because you still need to look at your monitor :).
-
I would use an active trackclip for TrackIR. The reflector clip might work, but unless you are NOT using headphones, its not worth the hassle. A cheap Trackclip clone for 30-40$ (wired or wireless) does the trick perfectly. Just a heads up: TrackIR is not 1:1 head movement as VR. You will need to get used to this as well. I fly most of the time with my montior and TrackIR. Sometimes I do some VR in the G2, but I have the same issues. Clarity in the center, blurry mess everywhere else. To many compromises.
-
Well, if your G2 is still within warranty, just call HP and get yourself a free cable. If you are out of warranty you might need to be extra friendly. I received the cable a day later via DHL for free.
