Make pilot model transparent around the game cursor
Gruman replied to Rapierarch's topic in DCS Core Wish List
+1 @Edmus Yes, this is possible and its welcome its available right now. But virtual pilots in this topicreally like an other option. And if ED is not interested in animate the pilot body to unmask the buttons or make it transparent when the cursor gets close, this would also be a nice option for those who don't like to have multiple layers of HOTAS assignments. Or we can simply link the pilot body to the joystick hiding function. Would work well in the F-18 (not so much in the F-16, since the stick is not in the center). But it would be better than nothing.- 37 replies

PointCTRL - Finger Mounted VR Controller
Gruman replied to MilesD's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
It does on my V1 PointCtrl. You can simply open a notepad/word and click those buttons. Some characters should appear. If not, check the Aux Cables / Connectors.- 3421 replies

Make pilot model transparent around the game cursor
Gruman replied to Rapierarch's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Well, thats unfortunate. Would have been a nice QOL upgrade. So the Pilot body will continue to stay off for me. Maybe another solution which would be easier to implement: Any chance for a cleverly hidden/transparent buttons to press with your mouse on the left and right panel to have the pilot body toggled? Similiar to how you hide the joystick in the F-18. Since you already have your mouse over those panels, it would be quicker and you won't waste a HOTAS Button.- 37 replies

True, but it shows the new S3 Model.
-
All already work in progress by ED since some time. - New S3 can be seen in the video as posted above - New Basket Physics was confirmed Hopefully we get new refuel interaction as well (Proper calls, checkin, not having to fumble with the ready precontact key) Should be fun.
-
The click would be missleading, since it will click even if the MIP didnt had a closed contact.
-
Should be possible. Some added CFT's to F16, some added wingtip tanks to F5's and other examples. I think most of them were added as "weapons" from the loadout screen. If the ability to refuel could be added, thats a whole other topic.
-
Use VR and large enough room and you good to go . But yes, a dedicated slot at the hole and at the rear ramp for the crew to switch to would be helpfull.
-
Would be fantastic. But highly unlikely. Fat body tank, refuel probe, extra rear M240, better defensive suit. We might get some modders to add some "attachments" to fake a MH47 in the future.

Thanks for the view of the PCB. You didnt take any pictures of the bottom side of the DDI PCB's? Mostly curious about the USB-C Socket and the controller. Standard rubber dome "switches". Nothing capacitive. When you press down the dome, a conductive film on the dome will connect the two exposed ENIG plated rings. Not the best tactile feeling, but other than that, the MIP and DDI's are rather great. Can't complain.

Or simply hide the whole left / right arm whenever you get close to those sidepanels with the mouse cursor.- 37 replies

4 january 2023 DCS 2021/2022 and Beyond Video feature Updates?
Gruman replied to Dangerzone's topic in DCS 2.9
Amazing video. Was a pleasure to watch it yesterday. Who is the developer of the CH-47? ED Project? -
Apparently fixed: Thanks to all involved.

Your HOTAS is good enough for anything in DCS. But the Thrustmaster Warthog Stick (or rather the gimbal) has a tendency to be "sticky" on small movements. Multiple solution: Add an extension, regreasing the gimbal, or switch the base to a Virpil one. I would go for the extension first, since it has the biggest impact. Regreasing is a good option, if you had the stick for a long time and suspect it to be dirty (dust, debris etc). Virpil bases are great and work plug and play. I went for the extension & virpil base. Did it help with AAR? Maybe a little. What does help with AAR? Proficiency with formation flying, dooing AAR a lot for short time ( 5min on every flight and then move on) and not get frustrated by this task. If the tanker is still flying after your unsuccessfull tries, than its a good start ;-).

PointCTRL - Finger Mounted VR Controller
Gruman replied to MilesD's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I think it would be good if those USB Micro Ports would be glued with epoxy before shipping out. Micro USB is a terrible connector and those Arduino clones are not the best build out there... This would save Miles so much customer support time and replacement parts. Hopefully with a V3 there will be a custom Arduino Board by PointCtrl with a USB-C(Power) and Wireless (BT). I'm surprised mine in a V1 Point Ctrl is still attached.- 3421 replies

I never heard of anybody using them in any productive way. Don't waste your money. Look for other solutions (PointCtrl, Leap Motion, or other DIY projects). Don't really know why they are still in the option menu in DCS.

So the number of happy Pico 4 users is growing? @VR Flight Guy in PJ Pants, is your Video in the Hornet at night shot while using the Pico 4? Thanks

Welcome back Returning to the Discord Server ASAP. -
Hey Bearskin Thanks for the Feedback. When you talk about the Rift, are you referencing Rift CV1 or Rift-S? Because the difference is quite large :). But it doesnt sound too bad. And there is 30 days return on Amazon (even for me here in Switzerland), so I might give it a go. Thanks
-
Thanks. Coming from a CV1, Rift-S the G2 was a letdown when I received the device after preordering it. Still have it, but not using it much (With the Rift-S I was 100% in VR). Stuff that I hate about the G2, tiny sweetspot, anoying cable, check cable errors (V2 Cable), WMR (Which is solved by OpenXR obviously). I feel like warping is also in the Reverb G2 noticable. I have the counterweights, VR Cover Interface, Frankenstein FOV Mod and all the other "QOL-Mods" which didnt help much. Just looking for an alternative without spending more than 1000$.

Anybody here got the Pico 4? Lot of coverage about other titles, but not much for DCS. Especially the topic of "Usability" is never covered. Thanks

Lost COMMS & COMMS Menu - All MY Aircraft after latest DCS update
Gruman replied to AvgWhiteGuy's topic in VAICOM
Did you install the new community fixed version or are you still on VAICOM Pro (last payware version)? Your problem sounds like the later one. Check the top post in this forum section and get the latest version. Check VAICOM Discord for some additional problem solving while Updating. Downgrading to a previous version is possible. Easiest version is just use Skazillas Updater GUI, you just need the last version number and you good to go.
