  1. It does depend on the aircraft. In the Spitfire you can get away with not using it that much. But in the P47. You'll need vigorous pedaling to keep the aircraft flying when flying at it's limits.
  2. My understanding is he uses some ready bought assets in his mods. And that makes it impossible to add to DCS, because they can't have a contract with Currenthill. When he doesn't wholly own the assets he makes.
  3. Got a screen shot? Tried to find it on the comments. But couldn't find it.
  4. First rule of ww2 dcs, don't ask about ww2 dcs.
  5. Because I've had 8 months of awesome time with the map. It took just a little over month to get winter textures which i very much enjoyed. Then a couple of months after that. We got improved textures for summer. With vastly improved colours and textures. If you fly in the Swedish area in the southern and of the map. It looks very good even in helicopter. And all DCS maps have ugly parts. With Syria and Normandy having the least amount of ugly parts. While in Afghanistan is almost impossible to find a place that doesn't look terrible down low. Iraq is better then Afghanistan. But there are many places in northern Iraq with towns basically stand on a 40 degree list. It looks fine in the editor. Then you place a ground units and go into the game and you'll see that anyone living in that town would roll out of bed. As the entire town is listing to the side. You'll also had odly placed roads etc. Kola suffers from bad textures down low(game engine limitation) wrong type of trees(again engine limitation, but they have improved this too) however there is far less "mystery towns" and "impossible roads" as seen in Iraq and even Syria.
  6. Except for one runway picture. All other pictures showed exactly what Kola was gonne look like. They also made it clear that they were using satellite imaging. Which told me and everyone who paid attention. That it would look much like South Atlantic map. Which it did The map get better for each update. And looks far better now then it did. Ground textures has gotten at least 3 major upgrades in less then a year. And it looks fantastic. Not sure how you can claim it gets worse for each update date. As it only gets better and by a large margin. And it's obviously not a skill issue. But a limitation of the DCS terrain engine. These are the same people making fantastic terrain for another sim. So there's no doubting their skill. In a perfect world all maps should look like Normandy 2 down low and Kola/South Atlantic up high.
  7. I had a 500lb bomb land literally next to a Panther tank. And the tank received no damge. Rocket which are really effective against infantry and light vehicles in real life. Do almost no damage. 30mm from the Apache too. Isn't very effective. As seen here. 30mm from the apache blows up all around the technical. https://youtube.com/shorts/-fHcc8qrZ5A?feature=share
  8. Thanks. It's from my video intro
  9. Spitfire has tracers, but only for the .303s. Use the .303 to help with the aiming.
  10. Can be for helicopters, and A1 Skyraider(when that comes) And A4 Skyhawk from carrier.
  11. Germans rudely interrupting my Spitfire familiarisation flight.
  12. Priorities is the big one.
  13. Impressive, that's even more bleak than my take on WW2A DCS. I don't know if it's that bad. But I don't think the F35 is good for ww2 dcs. It only means less resources for ww2 dcs. I'm honestly impressed by how long they've spent on WW2 Marianas. I assume it's one guy working on it an hour every 6th Sunday. It's some tiny islands, mostly covered with palm trees. Yet they've spent far longer on the ww2 version then the modern one with the nice golf course.
  14. F5 remaster does have a head. But like the warbirds. It doesn't appear the editing the lua works. Would be nice if they could add some commonality. Both in regards to view editing and head.
  15. So only useful in a few modules anyway, since most don't have a head
  16. Thanks, interesting, but I don't have any server lua Edit ok, managed to steal the server.lua from the DCS main folder, and your settings work for the F-4, but I tried to change the name to the F-5E name, but it won't work. Edit 2, and the F4 pilot is headless...
  17. Can you give me a how to? I I've been using this In the main DCS folder views lua. And it only works on F16, and F15E for me. I've tried on the F5 and F4. But it won't let me move the camera further away or turn it 360.
  18. It seems only a few aircraft have this ability. F16, F18 and F15E has it(but F15E pilot has no head in F1 mode) F5 doesn't seem to respond, F4 doesn't seem to respond. Those are the modules I've tired.
  19. Always exciting. Will it be a big one. A medium one. Or a small one. We never know until it's here. And it's always fun speculating.
  20. You'd think that. But one of the excuses/reasons for not getting those 6 assets pack AI ww2 aircraft they talked about 6 or 7 years ago. Was because it was "all hands on deck" for multithreading. I don't see any overlap between multithreading and making 3d models and putting them in as AI. But apparently there is. So if that's the case. All bets are off.
  21. I'm not sure they are actually working on anything ww2 related, except maybe the odd texture update in a cockpit. Given all the stuff they are doing. Afghanistan, Iraq, 29a, 15c, 35. Dynamic campaign Continuing work on the hook, F16, F16. Then all the core work. Vulkan, atmosphere, save game feature, AI etc etc. I don't think there's anyone left to work on ww2. Last year they showed any lot of ww2, particularly PTO. This year we had mabye 5 second of ww2 total. Probably ED moving away from PTO when they learned about the upcoming competition. F35 will give them more money. Instead of having to beat the competition over PTO.
  22. Don't think the C is any more challenging. Given that even the B mostly takes off and lands automatically. With just a few button presses.
