Does this map come with IA and other missions?
Gunfreak replied to imacken's topic in Orbx Simulation Systems
Yes quite a lot of instant action stuff. Lots for the F16, F4 and F18. As well as some stuff for F1, various helicopters. Less regular missions. Just a few here and there. You also have this excellent sandbox mission https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3339556/ -
I'm happy for the update and will probably get it as soon as it's available. But this just enhances my opinion that the FC4 version should have been "downgraded " to a A model. I understand we're not gonna get a full fidelity A. So making the FC4 an A models would add a new aircraft to the game. And would let us use the A for those countries that used it.

Anyone still flying the DCS Thunderbolt in 2024?
Gunfreak replied to Lurker's topic in DCS: P-47 Thunderbolt
Not a remake, but a prequel. Same unit but in Normandy. I haven't heard anything about it. Since the announcement. I just started on the original campaign. And it feels nice given the limited abilities of that other sim. -
Yes carrier dudes don't look like civilians now do they?
-
Because blowing up random carrier dudest/cows or blowing up some terrain pieces doesn't have the same problematic effect as some dude making a youtube video about blowing up a 1000 unarmed civilians with cluster bombs. Not really sure why you are having problem understanding such a simple concept.

WWII Naval a/c, ships, maps and ground units
Gunfreak replied to oldpop's topic in DCS Core Wish List
I could see the Corsair and MiG17. The MiG had looked well on its way. And the Corsair just have been done long ago. But the A1 didn't look 10% done last it was shown. Not that long ago either. So one does not fit the two others. -

What does that mean? -

Hellcat and Enterprise will probably come before Mag3s Corsair and Essex Carrier. -
Hard to know. Only way to know is to test. What you can do is make trigger so when infantry is killed the guns stop working for a said amount of time. Then as long as the guns aren't destroyed. After a said amount of time, new infantry will spawn and the guns start shooting again. To simulate that squishy humans that operate the guns die easier than metal guns.

Unlimited ammo for ground units (SAMs in particular)
Gunfreak replied to ghashpl's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Ammo and fuel trucks should be part of a Sam battery. I usually add explode unit trigger to ammo and fuel trucks. They make a big booms when hit. I'd rather have unlimited ammo for ground units. Especially infantry that runs out of ammo really quickly. -
I guess you could always make sure another airfield is at a higher elevation and so not affected by fog. But it would be really cool if they added the ability to use trigger zones to add weather. Not just for fog. But dust storm. Local showers etc. You don't even have to make the trigger zones another shape. "Just" add a built in "irregular " shape to any weather. So if you weather trigger zone is 100 000. Then the fog will be at say 90 000 and then get less dense closer to the 100 000 border. But that's probably another 8500 man hours.

They are combatants on a warship. So obviously not what we are talking about when discussing unarmed people on the Afghanistan map.

A the beauty of the track. Doing the track with F1 view. It worked great. If I run the same track in external view. None of l my weapons releases. They claim the track records all kinda inputs ect. But how does changing the view. Somehow affect what is shown in the track. The inputs and everything is the same. Only the view is different. Yet somehow it changes what happens. Completely illogical

I did a mission that I spent so long on getting right, (once I even had to abort to break up a dog argument) and when I finally finished it, something had happned to my recodring, some settings had gone off in OBS. I have run the track with cockpit and recorded that, but the view is very zoomed in, however if I try to adjust the view, I'll lose the recorded head tracking.

Huge amount of work for the DLC campaign makers. And as someone who mostly does one of mission that i made myself. It would help immensely. Same way as having an airbase populated aircraft, static and moving, having infantry and vehicles moving here and there. Same as having animated deck crew on the carrier. It's all part in immersion and realism. As it is now. You can't even contact what little ATC there is on multiplayer servers.

Pretty dead in here. Losing hope...

Nothing exists in DCS until it's released. Not aircraft, not maps, not core updates. -
DCS World 2024 Screenshots and Video Thread
Gunfreak replied to MiGCap1's topic in Screenshots and Videos
So the great battle video is done, 98 Cold war western aircraft attack Murmansk, defended by a dozen MiG-21s and 100 AAA and Sams. Southern force will attack the SA-5 and SA-6 batteries at the Murmansk international airport, this is Swedish Viggen, USAF F-4s and Mirage F-1s. The center force is British Harriers with British F-4s as TARCAP. The Northern force consists of Norwegian and Luftwaffe F-104 on TARCAP. USASF and Luftwaffe F-4s on fighter bomber mission, Luftaffe F-104 fighter bombers. And Norwegian F-5s on Fighter bombers and SEAD/DEAD. I’m apparently a better ground pounder when I can’t see the targets, my 4 Mk83s dropped at Severomorsk 1 took out 4 TU--95 bombers and a whole SA-2 battery. I just dropped in the general direction and couldn’t see anything. I drop another 3 Mk82s blind and somehow hit a S-60 AAA and ammo truck. My blind firing of 20mm into the dark ground, took out more ammo trucks, 2 SA-2 missiles and 2 SA-2 radars. By the end of the 15 minute engagement, all enemy aircraft in the air or ground were taken out, all SAM batteries spread out across the city were taken out, about half the AAA got blown up too and a few random tanks had to go boom. We lost 10 aircraft, several to SAMs, a couple to MiG-21s, and 3 Harriers blew themselves up when dropping Mk20s -

I agree with you, but that's how ED treats ww2. We not only paid for the aircraft and maps. But also spent money on a paid asset pack. Yet we are treated as second class citizens. ED doesn't make moeny on WW2, so ww2 is the lowest of lowest priority. I have everything ww2, but honestly don't play much any more as I'm tired of the only thing ww2 gets is bugs. Nothing of major importance has come to ww2 dcs since the Mossie and the Mossie itself is mostly left for dead. Jets got BVR AI updates and BFM AI updates. But ww2 AI is the same it has been for 10 years. -
Allow placement of all ground units on ships

I've wanted to do a helicopter landing to take back oil rig captured by terrorists. But can't have infantry on oil rigs. And can't have them disembark on oil rig from the helicopter -

They would still have it tested. The new animations for modern infantry won't come untill the new 3d models are ready. And i guess they aren't ready. -
DCS Update | Afghanistan Progress | F-16C Dragon's Fury Campaign
Gunfreak replied to Graphics's topic in Official Newsletters
Since ww2 is low priority, they use ww2 as a test bed, so if anything breaks. It only affects ww2 which isn't a big deal. They seriously broke the Mossie with the new landing gear physics. But since the number of people that own and fly the Mossie is miniscule vs F16 or F18, It's not a big deal. And once all the bug are fixed they'll add the new physics to the important modules.
