http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=9568 From what I've read so far, I'm sticking with the Omega 5.6's.
-
The guy that makes them (Omega) is an official ATI beta tester. He takes the stock ATI and Nvidia driver files, tweaks it to optimise performance, and packages them with custom control and tweaking/ overclocking tools that the stock driver doesn't come with. From what's said I get the impression that his work is approved of (but not supported) by ATI. Don't know if he has similar connections with Nvidia. I first started using his drivers when I had an Nvidia FX5600 and was desperate for any performance improvement I could get. I was completely blown away by how much I was able to improve my systems performance using his drivers, so when I upgraded to an ATI 9800Pro, I stuck with him. I've never used stock ATI drivers.

ED have already acknowledged it as a bug. Besides, if it's 90deg off, it can't be the difference between true and magnetic north. The difference is much smaller than that.

Seems you're not the only one, Witchking. Found this post over on the Pacific Fighters forum: http://forums.ubi.com/eve/ubb.x/a/tpc/f/26310365/m/4681005833 I'm using Omega's 5.6's and think I'll stick with them for the time being.

Understanderble really. Since I don't personally fly the F-15 I haven't been effected by any of the issues that have been raised about it. Really though ideas like this and bug fixes should be considered seperately. The chances are ideas like this will only make it into 1.2 at the earliest (and more probably LOMAC's successor). I fully agree that major issues should be given priority. But that doesn't nescessarilly mean that creative innovations should have to stop. Surely small improvements and bug fixes can be considered at the same time?

LOL...Swingkid....I think that might be what's known as bribery!! .....Mind you in this case I'm all for it!!

Great idea!!

Cobra, perhaps not quite what you meant, but one way you can get the "living" airfield effect is build a basic mission with flights into and out of the airbase, trucks moving around etc, then use that template to build your other missions onto. It's a great idea, the only thing is it might be a bit taxing on some systems. The weapons stockpile idea is also excellent...especially if built into a dynamic campaign at some stage in a future release (eg if the enemy cuts your lines of supply etc the stockpile decreases rapidly and so on).

Mouse view in cockpit, how?
Jester_159th replied to afrographX's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Go to the Lock On\config\view folder. Find the file "view.lua" and open it with wordpad or notepad. Find the line "CockpitMouse=False" line and change the setting to true. That should do it. EDIT: At least, that does it in the full version. It should work in the demo as well. -
If it would be feasable I also like the idea of being able to load a different weapons loadout on the apron. Our squad flies some quite complex missions at times, and this would certainly open up new possibilities for us.

questions about locking ground target on a Su-25T
Jester_159th replied to cweng's topic in Bugs and Problems
What type of ground target was it and what was your range to target when you started to try and lock it? I've found with some vehicles I need to set the target size to either 8 or 9 (Vulcans, Hummers etc). If it was a building you need to set target size to it's max (32 IIRC). -
Hey I am new, I have questions :D

You'll have to reduce your graphics settings to get anything near decent frame rates. 1024MB of RAM is pretty standard round here, also you're probably going to find that you'll be wanting to upgrade your graphics card. I had performance problems with a 5600XT and eventually upgraded to an ATI 9800Pro. I'm personally running a P4 2.4gig CPU and don't have too many problems now, although LOMAC is a very CPU intensive sim. I would like to upgrade my system at some stage though since I still find that when things get busy I suffer some very noticable slowdowns. I'm not up-to-date on PC hardware though, so can't really help you out too much there. -

If you're looking for team tactics and a good level of comms, once you've mastered the basics to your own satisfaction, I would strongly suggest you join a squad. Hyperlobby is definately the place to find some quick multiplayer action (and some good co-op missions as well). One word of warning about Hyperlobby though...especially the dogfight servers.....be prepared to get shot down...a lot!! There are a lot of extremely good flyers out there. Don't let this make you too frustrated though....Your day will come! AFAIK quite a few squads have their own private (direct IP connection) servers. Personally I prefer this, working with and getting to know a group of individuals, perfecting tactics etc I find very satisfying. So you have quite a few options open to you. The other thing you'll find is that within a squad there is always someone that can help you out with any problems you might have. It is also without a doubt the quickest way to learn the more intricate arts such as evasion and keeping a lock etc. Also, this is a very helpful community. We were all new to this at some stage...And most of us remember that...most of the time!! ;) -
Best Wishes to our UK Friends
Jester_159th replied to Stormin's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Achilles, you seem to have your facts confused. Firstly, that figure of 100000 Iraqi civilian dead is mostly made up of Kurds and other ethnic groups that Sadam Hussain's regieme was attempting to wipe out. Secondly, let's remember why the coallition troops are in Iraq in the first place. Let's also remember that it was the terrorists that fired the first shot in this war. Remember the Twin Towers? Fortunately though one of the major building blocks of democracy is that everyone has the right to express their views without fear. Believe me, if we allow the terrorists to win and extremism takes over that'll be one of the first rights you lose. Now as it is, this particular thread was started with no political intent. I'm sure Stormin' purely intended it as a vehicle for friends of our country to express their sympathy and support for those who have been effected by this outrage. Please refrain from posting things which are bound to spark a political debate and result in this thread being closed (as so many others on this and other forums already have been). -
Try flying the Su25T quickstart mission a couple of times, or one of the stock missions and see if you get the same problem. If it all works fine in those missions then you'll know it's something to do with your missions, if you get the same problem then it could well be a bug. Another possibility is you might have a corrupted file or a driver problem. You could try using Omega's version of the 5.6's. I'm using that driver with my 9800Pro and I haven't seen that problem.

Thanks for the info Han. I'll give it a go.

The throttle setting is probably it. I've had something very similar.

Hi Mustang. Thanks for the response. I've no idea what it's related to. When it CTD's it does so with no error message. I just tried it again, clearing all the events from the event viewer first. When I went back there was no new events recorded. If I was getting CTD's in other applications as well I'd be thinking along the lines of a bad stick of RAM, but it's only with FC and only when overcast is set. Is there anyway I can make FC log errors (like a debugging proceedure or something)? If not, the only other thing I can think of is trying a reinstallation.

Sorry guys, I know someone posted about this a while back, but I can't find the thread. For those that didn't see this mentioned before, here are the symptoms I'm getting: When I set up a mission with overcast clouds selected (eg cloud setting at 9 or 10), the mission will try to load (taking an excessively long time), but as soo as the load screen progress bar reaches 100%, FC will CTD. It's definately not the missions themselves since if I set up the mission without overcast I have no problems, but if I quit the mission (which we now know is working) and set the overcast (or add overcast to an already existing mission), it will CTD all the time. Anyone remember if there was a fix for this? System specs: P4 2.4gig CPU ATI 9800 Pro (Omega 5.6 drivers) 1024MB PC2700 DDR RAM AC 97 on board sound

To check your AA and AF settings you need to go to your gfx driver control panel (right click your desktop to bring up the display control window. Click the settings tab at the top and find the button marked "advanced."Look for Anti-Aliasing and Anisotropic Filter settings). I've got an ATI card and can't remember the Nvidia controls layout.

The heat blur and shadows settings will be putting some strain on for sure. I agee with Zoomboy. Turn off the mirrors and heat blur. I'd also suggest reducing your shadows setting to active rather than all planar. Also, all the normal things like check what you've got running in the background and shut down as many running programs/processes as possible. Another thing I've heard mentioned as saving your system resources (and so increasing FPS) is turning off the force feeback option in the cfg files. No idea how much (if any) this helps. But it's something I've done ever since the original LOMAC came out.

LOL...If I reduce my caffine intake I would probably have to curl up and die! My wife's on a diet at the minute...which means I am as well....Whether I like it or not!! Seriously though. Sorry if I came over a bit strong in my original post. It's just that I've seen Starforce getting blamed for everything since the whole debate started. I don't doubt that some folks have had SF related problems, and sincerely hope that at some stage they'll get their issues resolved (preferably sooner rather than later). But I do feel that the whole SF "bogey-man" is getting blown out of proportion, resulting in it becoming the first suspect of any problem from the CD drives packing up to random CTD's. I just feel that, even with a subject some feel so strongly about, we need to keep a firm hold on reality and present a fair picture of the position. Otherwise we risk making new simmers think twice about the genre. Afterall when looking at PC gamers as a whole, we're already a fairly small minority. Anyway. Glad to hear you got it sorted. Happy flying!
-
No idea what's caused your issue with the 25T, but the Starforce comment is ridiculous. Whether it's a poor CP progrmam or not is debateable, but the idea of it being able to remove a certain part of a program is pure paranoia. I suggest you calm down and post a few more details. Is the 25T available as an AI aircraft for example. Strikes me from the limited info you've given that you've done something to corrupt a file. Had a system crash while running FC for example. Best bet will probably be to reinstall FC.

I'm patiently waiting for Omega's version to be released. Dunno how good they are but Omega skipped tweaking the 5.5's and waited for the 5.6's instead. Might not mean much but since he is a tester for ATI as well as making his own versions it might be a good indication. But 50%?? I really don't see that happening. That wouldn't be a driver release...It'd be the eighth wonder of the world!!

Problem with Pilot Log and Campaings
Jester_159th replied to airea's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Does the nation you've created your pilot for have the plane you're flying in it's inventory? For example. If you're flying the F-15, your pilot must be either US or Israeli. If it's an Su-27 your pilot must be Russian or Ukrainian. If, for example, your pilot is Spanish or French, then those nations have no flyable aircraft available and any missions you fly will not be recorded in the log book.
