Just an FYI. I created VMFA(AW)-533 skins for the hornet. They are a F/A-18D squadron, but since the D doesn't exist in the game (until this mod) I use them on the Cs. I deployed with them to Aviano in 93. Don’t remember Gigs so he probably went with the Hawks on the 2nd pump. I have a buddy I fly with who was in 533 for all of the 90s I’ll ask him about Gigs. Couple questions…what color scheme do you want and is there a particular modex and buno you want. I have all the modex and their matching bunos for the jets we deployed with in 93 if that is of interest to you.

Hi everyone! I have purchased a Tacview Advanced license for my personal use. However, I am now wanting to purchase a hosted server so others in my squadron can fly with me and we can debrief using the Tacview app. My question is, can I use the same license key I use on my personal computer on the hosted server since it is "still mine"? No one else will be able to use it and I won't be sharing the key with anyone. That being said I want to ensure I am living up to the license agreement and I am doing the right thing. I have searched online and couldn't find an exact answer. Even reading the Tacview FAQs, I don't get a direct yes or no answer to the hosted server question. Lastly, I am still waiting for approval to the Tacview forums, so I can't ask this question there at the moment. Any feedback about my question would be greatly appreciated. Chewmann

I had a breakthrough last night. It seems as though, through the help of @Megalax and a couple of others, I was able to create what I wanted. Attached are screen captures of the helmet I will include in all 6 skins. Desert MARPAT cloth lens cover, the squadron shoulder patch in a reduced size (in one of the pics attached), and the helmet with hawks and checkerboards the squadron is known for. The helmet decor is similar to what at least one pilot had in the the unit early in the F/A-18D days. I am doing a couple last minute checks to make sure the MODEXs work and the skins behave as expected in game. I will release them before the end of the weekend.

The work on the helmet continues, slowly….and I can’t get the shoulder patch reduced in size. So it is taking longer than I hoped.

Mega - will do. Thanks! My other issue is the patch size. How do I reduce its size? I have a .png file with both patches. i reduced the size of them but it didn't change in game. What's the trick?

Well, since I couldn't find any skins for VMFA(AW)-533, the Hawks, I decided to jump into the skin business. Admittedly, my skills pale in comparison to so many others, but for my first go, I am pretty happy. There are 2 tail styles I've found doing my research. One where the squadron ED is on the outboard side of the vertical stab, and the other on the inboard side. Likewise, there are 2 main text colors. gray and dark blue. I have made the 4 variances . But, I also saw what looks like a specialty skin (sort of like a CAG version), so I made both of them too. I have the shoulder patches on the pilot, though I am trying to figure out how to reduce the size of the squadron one. More experimenting is needed. The last item, besides the shoulder patch is the helmet. IT is a royal PITA. This may take some time. Once I am happy with a design, I will post the skins for all to use. Let me know what you think. In the C:/Users/<username>/Saved Games/DCS.openbeta/Liveries/FA-18c_hornet folder, the skins have to be in individual folders (no .zip files). In the C:/…/DCS.openbeta/CoreMods/Aircraft/FA-18c_hornet/Liveries/FA-18c_hornet folder, here they must be .zip files.
