Shoot, haven't seen that since Nellis in the Beta's. I'm sure it is hard to pin this one down, as some seemingly invisible entity at certain airfields seem to cause it. NWS was proffered early on as a possible cause, but never seemed to pan. Some airfields just seem to have `hawg gear eatin' poltergeists...

Georgian Hammer, Missions 4-2 & 4-3
Spectre_USA replied to Spectre_USA's topic in Mission and Campaigns
If I may paraphrase; I am off to give it a go. Many thanks, Hack-man... -
So, I somehow finished Devil's Cross with a win, so pressed on to Georgia Hammer. I'm digging it, got through the first 3 missions, then had to abort early, as my wingman got waxed before inflicting damage, and I could not get refueled/rearmed/repaired at Kobuleti, and my Rudders were damaged. It popped me onto mission 4-2, I assume from the brief, and as soon as I got in the `pit, lined up, nothing was working. Clicking anywhere produced a "ding!" noise from the OS. Great, we have an error. Alt+Tab to the desktop, fire up Task Manager, switch to DCS, and an error apperars; I do a retry or two, no help, and settle on ignore. Twice. After the 2nd time, the sim won't re-draw, so I hit escape, right arrow once, and get the debrief. Full shut-down, go back in, am presented the next mission. Use mission planner to get my "WA" paint scheme, and my usual Mavs and CBU loadout. Fly. Cockpit. DING! But this time it re-draws, set switches, and I'm off. Climbing to waypoint 2, no responses again. There is the same danged error message, hiding somewhere, but brought to the fore via Crtl+Alt+Del, switch to. This time it won't re-draw, so `ESC,' right arrow, enter. Debrief shows takeoff, campaign shows I've flown 6 missions, and my success rate is dwindling. Next mission gets me back to 4-1? Ouch. Is there a LUA I can alter to get past this error, and not get stuck in this loop?

And THAT is why I didn't submit a review anywhere. I did the pre-view, and HOTAS, link in my sig, but didn't want to do a review of the "finished" product. It is, for about 90% of it, just downright brilliant! But I have a total of 8 hard crash logs, and other quibbles which prevented an in-depth look, as I did not want to slag that 10 or so percent. Who knows, maybe after another patch or two, it will reach 99% brilliant, but with a simulation this complex, there is bound to be a few lurkers...

Can't wait to get it back for the Nellis map! But I do agree with most of the above. I fly from these missions generated, then tweak them to taste, as to what loadout and opposition I feel like. It brings the replayability factor from low to max!

I have only had time to experience one quick flight, but I gotta say this is a marked improvement on Beta 4. Sure, I scoffed at the fan-folks, giving them short shrift. `Til I flew it. I am in awe of the strides they made in the relatively short time. There are more talented folks there now, compared to LOMAC when I was on that beta test team. Very well done. I am just glad the FTP from Germany was NOT the beta, as I did not want to download again. Can't wait `til I get off work, so I can get another flight in...

Meh, just a hope for a surprise while downloading...

Any sign of Nellis?

Bump for DayGlow, as I do not know... :D

The LOMAC manual was done by a group called Digital Aspirin, and is excellent. The gentleman that spear-headed the product sadly passed on shortly after release. (Nick Cole, IIRC?) I would love to see one of that caliber printed out. I, personally, like small file electronically, for search purposes, but a volume for toting around is much preferred when hundreds of pages.

I've done a few searches before on this subject, and never found an answer. With maneuvering, and feet off rudder, I have an uncentered HUD almost constantly, to varying degrees. Some folks have said it is wind related, but I am not seeing that. So, let me just be less long-winded and say >bump< :D
-
Negatory, it never asked, and I still have a copy of Beta 2 on another drive for Nevada. Waiting on white screen now, as it found the Beta 3 and put it on in. Did you change your original install location at all?

Er, what? I just posted in the "Not `til after Christmas" thread, it is gone, then this goes up? So much for the fam-damily! I be Warthoggin'! Cheers, Wags, Merry Christmas again!

Yup, what Frederf said. In the training scenerio, they have it down to 2. Painfully slow. 5, the default, seems about right to me. 7 got a little too zippy...

The whole forum system was dead for me yesterday, from multiple connections. Glad to see it back...

I am fairly confident that whatever is released will be a bit more stable than the current build, which is what I would hope to see. I do hope the Christmas Eve release pans out, but when it is ready, that will be best...

Achy-breaky? You are a cold, cold man V...

It has been 3 or so weeks, and B3 is just so crash-happy, it is just difficult to get a full mission in anymore, unless it is very simple. I just tried 3 in a row, and they crashed to the Win 7 error window all 3 times, at different, but in close proximity, locations. Frustrating to get it all setup, and >poof!<

Warthoggers: Updated firmware released
Spectre_USA replied to topdog's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Well, I am sure the next one, that addresses the issue I find most relevant, will also address the possible corruption issue. I am just a firm believer that BIOS/Firmware upgrades are to be avoided unless a feature/improvement is worth the possible loss. This fails that litmus test in my mind... -
Warthoggers: Updated firmware released
Spectre_USA replied to topdog's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
If this doesn't address the lights on with system off, and only adds a pair of purty icons in Win7, I think I'll take a pass. Sorry to hear of your issues Loz, I hope TM does you right... -

So, anyone tried the new HOTAS Warthog firmware yet? It is dated the 6th, any brave takers on this upgrade? If so, how did it go? Getcher self a smokin' hole? :D
