No, was not a good buddy of that flame-baiter. Have been asked a few times, but have had the Spectre_USA moniker since about 1995 or so, when CombatSim first fired up...

To make a combat sim comparison, I've been tinkering along with the Thirdwire series for quite a few years, lots of cool add-on aircraft and equipment. Read weapons. But I have tried to go back, to keep a bit of proficiency, but I just can't, it now looks like a$$. Been telling TK for years to pick it up in the terrain department, but it hasn't happened. Warthog has spoilt me. Once the gold is released, and the HUGE amount of crashes ironed out, I don't know that I'll fly anything else...

Your English is not bad at all! You probably write it better than I do in your language. :) As to running it, it looks fairly usable, but keep in mind it is still in beta, so is prone to crashes, and is not fully optimized. They will come up with final specs before retail release...

Problem with 64 Bit version...APP CRASH

Mine goes to a black screen with my FRAPS counter showing 75 frames. Work around has beeb to use the X32. -
DCS:A-10C and the complimenting ThrustMaster HOTAS:Warthog. Anyone remember good ol' CombatSim.com? Yeah, we're still around... :joystick:

^This.^ And the adding ceremony quip made me LOL at work. Bad GGTharos, BAD! :smilewink:

You can't be serious! I think they need to make a Air Freshener shaped like a 30 mil and impregnate it with the scent of burnt cordite! I love the smell of burnt cordite in the morning, it is the smell of Victory! (Small nod to Apocalypse Now.)

I think it's more likely that I get a heart attack from all the daily exercise I've been getting hereabouts the last week or so. Daily snow-shoveling, or another romp in the `hog? We're talking no-brainer here! Mother Nature is cordially invited to kiss my...

Well, I am out for testing for a bit. Gotta figure out how to use the major amount of switches on the HOTAS Warthog I got today. Man, this is one fine piece of kit...

Oh, I didn't realize you could do a long command via keyboard. I will give that a go, as I thought a tap was as good as anything...

I tried the A2A training mission and got stuck. Behind the Frogfoots, (feets?) at 235 indicated, and hit the right OBS 6 for A2A. Made the TGP the SOI by hitting "K" as I don't have my Saitek X-52 Pro setup to do COOLIE hat right long. The right MFD shows "No Maverick" and the in mission briefing goes away, and stays that way. Tried cycling through "K" to get back to A2A, but nothing helps it to proceed. Gun rounds do nothing to the Su's, after I gave it up and went ballistic... __EDIT___ Tried it a second time, same issues, except for the gun, HOLY MOLY! Totally decimated both of them with the ferocious Gau-8A! There are many more pieces than I can count...

Well, I guess it is good that the training missions weren't made for Nevada, since it is a goner. Would've been the ideal place, but that is the way it is. Will give these a look and see and report back with any issues.

They do have a parked plane template for Nellis, which I based a few missions on in Beta 1, but with the "Lav Vegas" problem, I don't even mess with it. Once downtown is squared away, I intend to thin the herd, like in beta 1, as they were a frame wrecker then...
-
Not only will it be more optimized, but more operational. Currently a look toward downtown "Lav Vegas," (As the map now shows it) will yield a slide show, no matter how smokin' a CPU/vid combo you have. Yeas, it is a beta, and yes, the internal testers have already seen improvements.

They always pan out that way for me as well, I've built my last 3 rigs over the last 6 years that way. Even as a DCSE getting their discounts, I can't beat the parts route, and can tweak the specs my way. Unless the combat simulation worled picks up, however, I may have built my last gaming rig about 4 months ago...

Have you ever noticed that there is always some sound going on? I have shut down every switch and button, the jet is cold, yet there is always an ambient whine. I'd love a cold jet to totally chilly, ya know?

God, I, getting old. That guy's a Light Colonel and looks like a little kid to me. Shoot, it has been almost 30 years since I wrenched on `Hog, hasn't it? Thanks for the pics, d00d...

Coffee spitter of the morning! :clap_2:

I'd like to see Groom get fleshed out a bit, for sure, but would LOVE it if Creech/ Indian Springs got a re-fit, as I've flown out of there a few times IRL...

I had my right MFD fail just after rotation yesterday. The fun part was that the bottom 1/3 of the left MFD was obscured by a message that read that the right MFD had failed...

Well, it looks like they finally got a shelter for it to delay prying eyes. Shot taken from Beta 2. My Hog driver looks a little bemused by it...

This would be a very GOOD thing! I have the perfect slider in the throttle of my X-52 Pro, bu cannot finger out how to get it recognized by the sim...

Land from the South, and take off to the north of Nellis. I get between 5 - 7 fps when taxiing out to the south end for take-off. Is there a setting that can be dialed down in the interim?

So...will this patch be a game changer?
Spectre_USA replied to kingneptune117's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
^This^ I fire up a range run every couple of days to stay proficient, but have held off on learn new stuff mode until the patch/update comes out, as there is some broken stuff...
