  1. Sounds more to me like a hard drive situation, as it is probably thrashing around like mad trying to load these items. Do you have your virtual RAM set up to a fixed amount or Windows handled? Even with 16GB of RAM it will use a drive to pull that info. Maybe an SSD for this program? Just things to look into...
  2. It almost seems as if a step backwards to M-60's with Shileligh (sp?) missiles would be a step forward in the sim. I just don't think the real life advances, like the total walk-over at 73 Easting just hasn't caught up in this simulation. Saying it is out of beta, with little in the way of missions, let alone a ground based campaign, borders on the ridiculous.
  3. Outstanding collection. That took some time gather and post, all from the same angle. I snagged `em all for future reference, many thanks!
  4. How about the in air ICT? (Integrated Combat Turn.) I flew one of the canned missions, USA day Kutasi, IIRC, pounded the positions well, and had a pair of Mavericks, and a half can of ammo left. Drove a Bradley though waypoints Alpha, then Bravo, go mission success, and returned to my original jet. Lo, and behold, I now had a full bag o' bullets and 4 AGMs to unload on, well, nothing, but they were there!
  5. I placed a helo flight in a CA mission, and some unarmed types at an airfield for ICT purposes with no problems. They even saved OK, which wasn't happening in 1.2.2...
  6. I was also pleasantly surprised that the auto-update did not mess up anything I had going on as well. Might as well delete my backup directory, as I did not need it. I love it!
  7. I think the upgrade process was outstanding! I started the process, went to work for 12 hours, and came back to a message saying that the upgrade was successful. OK'ing that fired up the game, and all my stuff, (joystick settings, skins, logbook, etc.) was still there. For such a complex update of 5 purchased items, this went amazingly well. Everything I've poked around with so far has been improved. I can't ask for any more than that!
  8. The big difference is the lack of armored unit commands on the F10 menu. SEAD, CAS and CAP'ers can all be called in, but if you have pair of mech platoons to oversee to a location, they won't go anywhere via the comms menu. In CA, you can assign them routes, speeds, etc. You just have to check the briefing, or, more precisely, the mission planner for where they need to end up. There is usally an NFL team named M1 platoon of 4, and an M2. If you don't mind letting go of the wunnerful warthog, you can drive them yourself...
  9. Try Bud Light Platinum. Thank me later. :D And thanks again to the fine folks at DCS, I can't wait to get home to my newly updated version of DCS: World!

    Eye Candy

Hello! I guess I picked a good time to get back into A-10C with DCS World and FC3. But this beauty is on the event horizon? Outstanding! One of by sim faves in the 80's, brought forward in an excellent way, it looks to me. Oh, and look, it's Wednesday... :D
  11. I did my weapons 3 level upgrade training on them. Got one unforgettable day on the range doing the left hand turning, toothpick making, brass everywhere runs. Was an old "H" model, prior to the 105, but was still just awesome...
  12. My experiences are much like Yurgon's. So darned many "unable's" it frustrates me. On rare occasion, you find an odd combination that works, and they go at it with precision and no mercy. I love it when that happens...
  13. This right here usually works well for me, but you have to watch a few of the missions, as nasty stuff can, as previously mentioned, just appear out of thin air. I recall one of the end missions where a warning beep sounded, and I caught sight of something, right off my nose at about 2,000 ft AGL. Banged a U-ey as I fumbled around for the countermeasures panel. Evaded one, the, bang, bam, I was a flaming wreck. That one woke me up!
  14. Sorry to dredge up this old thread, but I just got back into the A-10C world, and was excited about FC3 having some more mission/campaigns, to tide me over until Nevada finally comes out. I grabbed the MIZ files, and pulled them up in the mission editor, wanting to change the A-10A aircraft into Charlie models, and go out and fly them. The missions won't save as there are errors noted, as stated above, for an F-16 CAS flight, and EPRLS for an Avenger contingent, and all M1's. All are noted as invalid actions, and the warning box they cannot be saved. This was on missions one and 2, haven't gone any further. In trying to select these mis-behaving groups, I get odd indications, like the Falcons are suddenly "Player's" A-10C. Have these items been looked into since November?
  15. In the same boat as Bahger, have been on hiatus, many thanks Silver Dragon. My serial number was already on the module download page. As a former beta tester for A-10C, has anyone heard about the Nevada training area that was supposed to come out eons ago?
  16. Mein Gott I miss those sights and sounds. Has it really been 30 years since I was wrenching on hogs? Time sure flies, and much faster than an unladen A-10! Thanks for posting those, Tailgate...
  17. A DCS : AH-64D would peg my happy meter! Well, it was actually reading infinity when A-10C came out, but it does fade over time. :D As to testing the new mission, I am sorry, but without any kind of feedback via debrief as in points, landings, etc., I can't be arsed to fly it again. There has got to be something simple, but ED hasn't got it fixed so...
  18. Flew this flapper last night, and have a couple of critiques. :D First off, you start in the air, at 25,000! Took me aback, slightly, was anticipating a ramp start. Secondly, found a hindrance to ICT's, a wayward Patriot RADAR; Lastly, if you stray over Waypoint 2, the 8 Apaches disappear completely! I imagine this was by design, but I did so after getting a message that they did not get them all, press on. So I did, then was told they were bailing, and POOF! On the plus side, a seriously target saturated area! And I love the ammo dumps all over doing random detonations and secondaries. Very nice ambiance! I just wish I could garner a few points, as I bagged 69 targets through 3 ICT's. Not your fault, but a continuing bug that I wish would get addressed someday. Overall, very well crafted mission, this must have some sweat equity in it!
  19. I have seen the zero point missions for over a year. I have tried to figure out what it is that makes a difference between campaign missions, flied as single missions, and any other type. The former give credit, where the latter only add hours. No kills, no points, not even number of landings show up in the log. My winging over the months has fallen on deaf ears, or is seen as too trivial to address, it would seem...
  20. Just downloaded, hope to get some stick time this evening to check it out. I appreciate the explanation of the use of MMW radar equipped Apaches. I do recall the reports, back when I was still ADAF, of the AH-64's being first in on "go" night. I bet the memory of seeing those dragonfly swarms IRL brings goose-bumps. Thanks for the mission, I look forward to giving it a spin...
  21. I fully agree to your opening statements. If a serious SAM/AAA threat is still viable in the AO, `hogs have no business there. That being said, I am unsure about Apaches as SEAD strikers, especially since V1.1.1.1, as the armor has quite the low-speed, low-level, (read helos), anti-air missile defense. I look forward to flying this, as it sounds more like "real-life" than most missions out there for SP, which seem to use the edict, harder is better/more real...
  22. For me, these tend to be long missions, as I will usually RTB and get re-armed and re-fueled, and take another run before cutting the CAS'd armor loose. They tend to get chopped up pretty well if there are even a few stragglers, and then you will get the mission failed, of either of the platoons if wiped out...
  23. Boo-yeah! I am getting a Kindle for my Birthday from my wife in a week. Will fire `em up and check `em out next weekend. Just what I was looking for...
  24. They need ejection carts, which look like little shot-gun shells, installed in order to jettison them. Pods are never carted up, as they tend to be on par with the cost of the entire jet. If it goes down, so do the pods...
  25. Yeah, pretty much, but I assume he already did that once. Periodically, actually rarely, it just doesn't take. I may have gotten ahead of myself or something on a step, but if the DSMS doesn't load, that is the procedure to re-load it...
