Depress one of the lower SB's on an MFD until you see load as an option. Click it, then the SB you held to get it to come up. One more click should present the load all option. Wait until all items on the left have a star (dot) in the upper left, and choose DSMS once again. That should show all weapons instead of the red rectangles that you get with a bad load. It happens to me infrequently, not sure of the cause either...

I have seen this in 2 of the Georgia Hammer campaigns. One is a Headquarters area near some hills and in fairly close proximity to an enemy FARP that launches Hinds later in the mission. There is another with a line of trucks on a road, fairly close to an artillery battery. I found both on a lark, after having hit the nearby targets, Mk. I picked them out, and after popping one in each, the labels appeared. It has been that way since way back, but I have flown the campaigns often enough to know where they are...
-
Labels? Heck yeah! My game, I do it my way...

I have seen similar in campaign missions since 1.1.1.1. Once the target group you are assigned to hit is eliminated, you get the Abort trio, then either a release, or 9-line. I am getting no updates prior to it either. JTAC, while very cool in concept, has always seemed a bit wonky...

Hard shelter doors and inspection hatches
Spectre_USA replied to Caspet's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Speaking of Harrier impressions, try the repair in the dirt. There is a flurry of dust like a jet engine is mounted just inside the wing roots. If I was at home, I'd post a picture of it, what a hoot! -
Hard shelter doors and inspection hatches
Spectre_USA replied to Caspet's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Back in the day on A-10A's, they'd park with the aft facing the blast doors, then winch them in. IIRC, they used the tugs and a tow-bar most of the time, but had to do a winch test periodically to ensure they still worked well. This was at the "Super Wing," 81st TFW at RAF Bentwaters and Woodbridge... -
The Apaches in the campaign missions, with the addition of these missiles, are toast. They didn't usually fare too well if they hit the line earlier that SEAD &/or CAS flights, but now they just fall like flies to those missiles...

Executing Landing Gear Extension Failure Procedure
Spectre_USA replied to REL's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
I never had a gear extension fail until last week flying a campaign mission in 1.1.1.1. I tried the item highlighted in Red, above, just on a lark, after doing a couple of go-arounds. Didn't think to check the manual for the other steps, as I was running late for work in the real world, and could not have done so had I thought of it. Needless to say, it did not work, and I shirked off landing 101 in my current persona's logbook. I hope it doesn't happen again, but if it does, I will look for that handle, as the 200+ and win-wagging didn't do a blessed thing, and I caught no damage, it just decided to fail on the right main, for some reason... -
Devil's Cross isn't broken, it is just very difficult. Maybe better with 1.1.1.1, if the SEAD is working, as advertised. It does, however, have ramp starts, IIRC. The Shore, however, is thoroughly broken...

Newb needs help with SEAD escorts....
Spectre_USA replied to Mandrake5's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Are you flying the Devil's Cross campaign? That one was ripped from the latest patch, or was it the one before? Anyway, it can be massaged a bit in the editor to be made a bit better, but is still a bit of a bear. The other one ripped, The Shore, is just hard broken... -
progressing forward in campaign mode
Spectre_USA replied to vegachavez's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Good thing you haven't patched up, or you'd only have one. And any completed campaigns would be zerod out. At least that is what happened to me with 1.0.1.0. If you stick with it, good luck with "The Shore." It is hard broken, and can't be completed... -
I figure it should be in the next 2 weeks, as they said it would be released in the Fall, and the first day of Winter is the 21st. AmIRight, amiright? :D

Only one problem with that, most arm crews have a pair of big ol' chunky chocks they lug around. I've seen some folks sling `em under the mains before the pilot comes to a full stop and jerk the guy forward until the inertia reels catch. Plugging in and chatting is always an adventure after some stunt like that...

As close as I can get it! What do you think??
Spectre_USA replied to Loz's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Question for anyone whose used this decidedly cool looking app. Can it poll across a network? I have 2 monitors on my server, and share one with the game machine as it never particularly cared for the KVM switches I've tried. I'd like to run Helios on the 2008 server, and be running the sim on the gaming tower and have it all updating over a 1GB network? Does this make sense? -
Hrrmmm... Why do the runways not look parallel in this shot? I just Google Earthed it, in case things have changed THAT much since last I flew in the airspace. New overhangs all over from the `90's, but the runways are still side-by-side. Oh, heck, I had a *DOH* moment as I was typing it. This is Creech, innit?

It certainly was in the beta. It isn't a huge stretch to see this as a middle eastern conflict zone, or even as an invasion force from occupied California. I feel that the Georgia/Baltic reagion has been done to death, with a lineage tracing back to Flanker 2.0 back before the turn of the century. I am, for certain, biased, as I have flown all over the area IRL, but am very happy that the series is branching out a bit, as the Baltic region, though volatile, has seen very little warfare on the scales available in this sim. Though August 2008 had the potential.

Looks like DCS is going to be collecting a few bucks from me next year. I look forward to all mentioned...

1.1.1.0 patch adds possibility of addon plane mods?!?

Wags? Cool, he's a good man. He's got my vote... -
Question about the TER (Triple Ejection Rack)
Spectre_USA replied to dok_rp's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Never loaded a MER in real life, but loaded plenty of BRU's on the F-111, and TERs on the Watimus Hawgimus. You really wouldn't want to fly that `Vark like that, as the 2 outboards on each wing are non-swing. That would seriously curtail the speed factor. Have loaded CBU's on a pair of BRU'S on each wing once, and then watched `em all drop in one run while in a helo over the Nellis range in the late 80's. Looked like over a mile of detonations, just awe-inspiring test run... -
Looks like the vid was taken just a few hundred feet outside the LOLA, an area I know ever so well. NOICE!
-
Whoa! My first attempt failed miserably, so I just went in and through my controls and tried the skins on the last beta that had Nellis. Have you guys come a long way since then! And then I went and checked Wags update shots on Nevada. Double-whoa! I think I may just hold off on the cobble-up, and fly over the gorgeous terrain when it becomes available...
-
Sounds worth a shot, in a 3rd folder, of course. ;) `Preciate the input, now when I get the time, I will do some code swappage!
-
Now THERE is a good idea. I held onto the last beta before it got the axe, but rarely fly it, as it CTD's a lot. Understandable, it was a beta, but cobbling it into a newer version would rock, as we wait for the over-the-top new version. Where is this mods area you speak of?
-
Glad you're working on it WildFire, as I inadvertently deleted my "fixed" missions the last time I re-installed. It would be great if someone could fix the last mission to kick off the win, which I also received in game, but not on the campaign screen...
-
I tweaked and cajoled all the missions to make them winnable. Except the last one. It is just hard broke. Racked up quite a few hours in the log book, but just could not complete it. Serious bummer, that...
