Thanks for the idea Sokol1. (post #12 in this thread) I modified your design to use 1/4" plexiglass, and other parts which I had on hand. I also modified it to use only one switch. This mimics a single push of the G key.
I stripped the switch/board/usb cable out of an old usb steering wheel. In the pic you can see the (yellow) switch below the spring, (switch has a black dot). You move the control either up or down, the cam pushes on the arm, which is attached to the spring, and makes contact with the button on both the up and down selection/motion. You just have to get the handle in sync with the sim landing gear position using the G key.
Works like a charm. Awesome in the VR.
