The faster the better, it's not an F-16. I don't think I ever take the throttles down from max until it's time to land. I usually roll to 90 degrees or even a bit more (slice turn) if I have altitude to spare, and the pull just hard enough to not bleed off too much airspeed.

I can't see the SSD boosting FPS unless you are critically short on RAM. Also be careful on buying new CPUs and the like, Intel JUST announced their new line: http://arstechnica.com/business/news/2011/01/sandy-bridge-arrives-from-intel-with-up-to-50-performance-boost.ars

Multi-monitor set-up guide & help (unofficial)
Gearbox replied to MadTommy's topic in Multi-Display Bugs
For the best effect, run the monitors at their native resolution, whatever it happens to be. Then in the .lua file, experiment with the resolution of the MFD outputs until you get it to be the right size to fit in the bezels. -
Multi-monitor set-up guide & help (unofficial)
Gearbox replied to MadTommy's topic in Multi-Display Bugs
It's working for me in b4. I had to fix the settings as the patch reverted some of them to defaults but I didn't have any problems. -
Use the old fridge for the tub :D

I had a similar issue and it turned out that my Warthog stick base was defective.... there was a zone at stick center where there was no spring pressure, but the stick could move over (a couple mm measured at the tip of the trim hat) if you took your hand off it. I got a new one and still have a TINY bit of this behavior, so it's possible there is an in-game issue too.

Wow, the FLIR is way better now! However the cannon still seems anemic, I still can't kill the T-55s with it in the first instant action mission, even when opening fire at 1.5M and pushing to 1M, then breaking off, and I am having the stutter issue others have reported when the rounds hit the ground. The cannon kills the ZSUs and BMPs easily enough though. It's also still infuriatingly hard to kill those two infantrymen at waypoint 2 away from the trucks.

Hell, the Phalanx is capable of shooting down mortar rounds nowadays:

Well, the LGB is falling much more straight down on top of the thing, and I don't think it has radar coverage there. Regarding engaging birds, I imagine the on-board software filters targets based on speed and other parameters.

I wonder if you're not allowed to turn the volume down. Uncle Sam doesn't like it when you smash up his jets.
-
Not necessarily. A lot of the back end engine stuff should transport right over, you just need the FM, cockpit and avionics behavior for the other jet.

You have to edit stuff. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=60815

I haven't played BS but what altitudes are you comparing it to? I get much better frame rates at 10000 feet than I do on the ramp.

A10-C Warthog Problem with X45

Did you mess around in the axis tune window for each axis? -
The second instant action mission has a JTAC strike against a convoy. I found that out the hard way after I used up all my stores finishing up the tanks at the previous waypoint.

Sylkhan I think Falcon has what you're describing, there's an option called smart scaling, which if I recall correctly magnifies anything you should be able to see but can't. I think it only blows invisible objects up to one pixel though.
-
I don't get this bit. The F-16 tanks aren't particularly survivable either, but we'd bring them along in Falcon all the time and punch them off when an enemy got to engagement range.

Master Mode is M on the keyboard (I think) or the stick button by your index finger. From there DMS right changes the reticle. The one I like is the "CCIP Gun Reticle" which is the circle with unwinding range reading and moving target lead indicators. You're saying to use the next one I think, with is the "CCIP Gun Cross" with just a range reading underneath? (Page 517 of the manual for names and pictures) Turns out that the center dot in all modes is what's called the pipper.
-
I tried doing this and it still hides the diamond when I put the gun pipper over it. I'm on Beta 3 if that matters.

Is there a way to get a numeric readout of your heading in the HUD instead of just the tape? I dug around in the IFCC menu and figured out how to turn the alt and speed readings into tapes, but not how to change the heading :(

I think you can click the 3D cockpit with a touch screen, but check out what these guys are putting together: http://www.scsimulations.com/index.php/ Click the big "helios" graphic in the middle of the page.

ckurowic what stick and throttle do you currently have? The more HOTAS commands that can be mapped to your stick and throttle the better as long as it's done in a sensible fashion.

Multi-monitor set-up guide & help (unofficial)
Gearbox replied to MadTommy's topic in Multi-Display Bugs
Sweet! I got mine working with my main 1920x1200 monitor and both MFDs on a small 1024x768 monitor. However when I configured it with the MFDs on the right side if I do the tutorials or use the radio menu it sticks the text off the right edge of the screen onto the MFDs. I figured out that I can place the MFDs on the left side, but to do that I have to make the mini monitor my main desktop monitor, which means a tiny desktop and the game menu screens and the like being drawn on the MFD monitor. Is there a way to adjust how the text appears? -
Barometric Altitude vs Radar Altitude?
Gearbox replied to goldfinger35's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
If the nav system has a topo map loaded and knows your baro alt it should be able to calculate your AGL alt. Not saying that this exists in RL, but it should :)
