  1. Sort of makes sense. Gauges usually stay all in the norm. Broken oil temp gauge maybe? I usually fly it at 110 120 oil temp where the needle is in the bracket. Usually it also stays there during combat and lower with lower settings. There is nothing i can read in that states faulty useage. The one thing ive observed sometimes that right when the uproar sound appears and i shift my view upwards the cowlflaps are closed. And i did not touch them. In my first track i was even flying pretty fast and at 2500 or lower. Temps good. Pushed it to past 3000. Clunk. But what mad says sounds logical. So either the oil gauge does read wrong or theres something wrong with the oil/water cooling...
  2. https://1drv.ms/u/c/153140320d8bd7a3/EemSBqhDUdJFkxsYAHfL5cEBXwq7A0EKC8WePMAOPV3OGg?e=lKZRiJ @NineLine another dead engine with temps ok. same short uproar and death no matter how fast i pull back. again, temps are ok, you hear the uproar, then temps start to rise and engine death can only be delayed Occurs in the first half. I also have some lagg down low which seem to appear only since 2.9... not sure if its visible via track but eg occurs when i try to land at carpiquet after the engine siezed. right before touchdown i get serious lagg.
  3. Right. Worked on the tail section and jumo drop in as per JaPo book procedures. Base in rlm76 light blue and then sprayed in the beige variant. Engine topped with RLM81 green. The effect is "minimal" and did consume hours.... oh well.. it is what it is... Also adjusted colors as the rlm81 brown was tad too dark imho. further colors on brown 4, 14 and 2 and a generic 7/26 will be differnt from another in their tonality. Its pretty interesting to see the battles one has to fight with finding the right colors especially for a PBR environment. In the shaded view, rlm82 looks nearly slime green, whereas in diffuse only its a medium olive green. So even if there were correct RLM charts, colors would have to be corrected for a PBR environment or would look "off".
  4. in the editor you can set it up for a mission. if thats what you mean. but thats up to the mission designer
  5. Will there be any improvements/fixes on the terrain? Whiles new is nice, but bernay airfield is still jagged....
  6. Thing is that the dora isnt the most popular plane atm. Most fly A8 or K4. I basically only fly the dora. Yes, the bug appears randomly and not often, but sometimes it pops up in succession... which can be frustrating. ill keep the tracks coming in.
  7. command angle means use of mw50 yes. mw50 is switched on by the mw50 switch and pushing the throttle past 3000 to 3250. iirc only ata does change. its a bit irritating. per technical manual you shouldnt use mw50 for t/o as you might overheat the engine too fast. but in dcs its quite possible.
  8. Small update. Im evaluating new info i could scavange on painting procedures of the dora. As established the junkers pre manufactured jumo engines came prepainted in a light blue rlm76 and rlm81 green on top having a very clean straight demarcation line. Upon assembly it is said that the power egg was oversprayed in the blue-green/beige version of rlm76 and topped off with brown rlm81. Same method was sort of applied to tail section as these came premade from another subcontractor. The joint then was overpainted in the saddle section. With the mimetall 500xxx series this was done with rlm 82 as previously discussed. Pictures somehow underline aforementioned procedure as the cowling often has a misalligned demarcation line most noticably on the right side where the demarcation line of the power egg is somewhat centered around the middle of the supercharger scoop and on the fuselage the demarcation line is higher around the strengthening spars. This methid was explicitly stated for the 5006xx series. However there seems to be a tripping stone... rlm81 green and rlm 81 brown look very identical on b/w. Nearly indistiguishable... Also, planes like the blue 12 of the same series also had the top front of the cowling sprayed in rlm82 light green... that strikes it pretty odd given the fact how much paint was used / wasted and lookin at the dire situations the luftwaffe was facing... Basically youd have rlm81g/rlm76b then rlm81b/rlm76bg and then a coat of rlm82.... overspray a green with brown to be resprayed with green?? Sorta odd... It sure would make a nice visual detail but the question about execution and time investment vs result arises... Anyway.. ive got some books incoming that might help hopefully... Theres few minor adjustmwnts and fixes bein done meanwhile along with slight color hue corrections. Unique serial nrs were made for brown 18 and 4, underside spray pattern of the elevators were fixed, nr "4" was fixed in shape and dimension. The droptanks were colored rlm65 as it seems this was the predominant color. Also theyll receive some dings in the normal.
  9. So... a little study of Brown 4 of 7./JG26.. i only know 2 pictures of that thing... and now try to determine the colors... some stuff has to be made up pattern wise.. but we can draw parallels. Now. Attached are 3 images. if you look at the first two, youll se the color swatches i use for RLM75, 76 and 81, black and the orang-y brown used for the group marking and the number 4. Studying the picture ive noticed that the gear leg root cover right above the gear is pretty much lighter than the surrounding area. Neither JaPo, nor Eagle Publications did seem to notice this or discarded it for whatever reasons? JaPos conclusion says that the gear cover and surrounding under/upperwing is all brown RLM81. EP / Crandall says its all RLM75. But, compare the color/light values of the gear cover with the sidesection of the tail. same value! it is known, that the fuselage was painted with a yellow greenish variant of RLM 76, while gear covers seemingly were not, but RLM76, 81 or 75. Now, if you look close at the area, where the upper portion of the gear cover inserts into the wing it casts a shadow. Both, the gear cover part and wing root cover have the same value in that shadowy area. If you progress to the right youll see a somewhat opened hatch which has the rim coverd in a lighter color. Incidentally it shares the same value as the gearcover and gear root cover and aeleron! Now, how to determine the rest? Assuming the wings leading edge and bottom is painted either RLM75 or brown RLM81 we can simply put swatches next to each other in exposed areas and in shadowy areas and then play with brightness/contrast to match the values of the previously determined RLM76! Bang on RLM81! Now, as we have that tricky part, we need to look at the top side of this plane. The only pics i have is attached. It is known that late war MiMetall build planes had very high contrast patterns, namely RLM76 and RLM81 as per JaPo, however, i have to check this out as its tricky to deal with as photoquality isnt best and it appears over exposed. The breakup color might be RLM76 or RLM82. Both colors were used on MiMetall birds. The mystery remains the engine cowling and the tail section to some extend. It is established that Wrk.Nr. 500647 is of the third and last batch produced by MiMetall. Its sisterbird 500666 has the whole forward section painted in one uniform color, so its save to say it was painted in the same way, but it remains speculation. The tailsection is what makes brown 4 famous as it uses a Ta152 tail. Of course we dont have this in dcs... but what the heck.. Id imagine - and this is speculation- that the tail would use a different shade of RLM76 as the tail sections were build by different subcontractors and delivered prepainted. To "buff out" uneveness in camo pattern, the "saddle" section between tail and center fuselage, which contains the extension plug, was usually painted with a different color, with MiMetall builds its RLM82 light green. I have no idea about the horizontal stabs tho... top and bottom...
  10. Right... i think ive arrived at a point where i cant really think of improving anything anymore. Ive redone the matte fraying edges on all markings so that they match the frayin where stencils lifted and left a more soft mark. before that it was just a uniform inner glow. also fixed the fug16zy morane antenna which was actually made out of wood. last thing ive done was to tint the used metal parts to represent different alloy batches. ill just take care of the silvering on the metal surfaces and then do few more 7./JG26 machines.
  11. After some testing i could find/create a good brush to imitate the luftwaffe splotchy application of paint and partially redone the camo. Tweaked the markings to be a bit less gloss. Might reduce further. Also the gasoline stains were fixed in color and adjusted.
  12. added data plate, exhaust heat discoloration and fuel leak discoloration. not too sure about the exhaust heat discoloration. there is some pics around showing a faint tint, but by the looks of the the soot-y fuel exhaust would actually just layer on top of it and only the parts in direct contact with the exhaust flames would get adirect - white discoloration.
  13. Its still going Added washing stains, reduced the walkway dust, fixed the supercharger intake weld seam (horrors... horrors), fixed missing fabric dents between controlsurface spars, redone tailsection/stabilizer layout. Added dryness to rim of mudd. Tried around with spray paint application and way to imitate that coarse effect. Eventually might try a new brush, but atm, noise does it. Still some normal map things to fix ive missed...
  14. Could the culprit be identified or do you need more tracks @NineLine?
  15. it would be for naught as the whole UVW layout would be different, if it gets a total rehaul from scratch and not some fixes to the current one.
  16. Second what kablamoman is saying. The biggest threat is the Pony. And if you happen to engage with a pro pilot.. situation looks bleak. The dora can turn with the mustang yes and against AI its just an excercise in patience... the lack of MW50 just prolongs it while the mustang just spirals upward. Not the most ideal thing to do tho. Ideally, you want to maintain a combat speed of over 400kph. The dora can turn with a spit or mustang if its fast enough. Extend startflaps and bobs your uncle. But its a tightrope. Too fast/too tight pull and flaps or guns break. Im flying against my teammates quite often and just today i was fighting one in a K4. K4 basically bein a spit of roidrage. The first few neutral merges we both climbed up in a left turn. The k4 quickly gaining advantage and only flying tactically hiding in clouds etc saved my 6 numerous times. Now, i tried something different. Him doin the left side pull up after the merge, i immediately dropped flaps and pulled hard after him, denying him turning room. It resulted in an yoyo circle fight in which i climbed always a bit higher than him on the upwards slope. I was pretty much flying near stall edge but could maintain to stay on his six. Also keeping the speed up on dives enabled me to get closer and turn tighter than him. The k4 has a very bad high speed maneuvering and control surfaces lock in a dive rather fast. so the first time i forced him from a yoyo fight into a dive from which he did not recover and crashed into the ground. The 2nd time the same thing. Yoyo fight but then it shifted into a vertical circle (looping) fight. again, with speed and bit of flaps i managed to gain on him and shred him with 20mm. Neither him and i are pro pilots, but the K4 is more of the turnfighter. The Dora simply has to applied differently and flown pretty much conservately and fast. As it was said, look for vicitms and not for fair duels. If one flies in a pack of Doras they will usually pretty much tear the enemy flight apart. The Dora is a great drag an bagger, as it can extend quickly and many folks will get target fixation and not see the wingman swoop in from the low. I agree tho, that without the MW50, its gonna be a lot harder and the fight has to be fought with even more discipline.
  17. Effect rather looks like the engine is on fire and slowly burning. Should rather be sharp explosive releases of gas/flames
  18. Its soso. In fly her regularly but the bug occurs pretty rarely but i also had it like 2 3 times in a row which made me think its related to warmin up procedures. But it even occured when doing it strictly by the book. And even if mw50 isnt involved at all. Temps indicate solid 120 throughout the fligh or less depending on ata/rpm then you push the throttle past 2100 rpm to 3000 or higher quick uproar engine dead at an instant and oil temps are suddenly above 130. Only quickly cutting the throttle, opening rads and pulling the notzug handle prolong the flight... but you're rather strolling home and delay the evident... I think in my first track this can be observers iirc. 2nd sorties. Start, cruise etc temps all good. Flyin 2500 or so rpm. See a contact throttle up to 3000 bang. Instant engine death. The only constant i see usually is that the radiator flaps are closed each time the engine seizes and oil is 130 plus. Coolant is ok iiirc. And i usually never touch the flaps. Not even for t/o. Not even the real pilots did as per accounts. If the system malfunctions due to damage, ok. Bad luck. But out of the blue just cruising? Unless of course random failures were on or were triggered but afaik these arent on on 4ya... and it happens toooo often if hardcoded...
  19. Happy new year, hope everyones swell! Work is crawling. Found new unexpected reference pics that neeeed to be evaluated. My inner Sheldon Cooper is bouncin, but time´s limited.. By the looks of it, the undersides of the horizontal stabs were display variations just as the wing-undersides.... (YAY! Not) It appears that at some point FW build Doras also switched to all metal undersides after the 210xxx series . So all 211xxx series had partially metal undersides overall. 212xxx and 213xxx bein some odd shots... Now, the Interesting one is White 100, a Fieseler 600xxx series build. It´s evident its a Fieseler series, due to the very distinctive underwing painting around the thick balkenkreuz. The horizontal stabs appear to be very dark, even compared to the control surfaces which are RLM 76 shaded, just like the fuselage. It appears, the color of choise for this section is a either a green or brown RLM 81. Now, i dont have any 500xxx or 400xxx series pics at hand, but i could imagine them being also produced in a similar fashion. More over, the tail sections were created by subcontractors, which leads to believe that there is some sort of "uniformity" sub-parts wise at least, as all components usually came pre painted and were then just assembled, which led to some pretty well known frankendoras. One more for the fixlist...
  20. Also something i missed. Mud obviously dries.. And some splatter streaks were missing on the fuselage...
  21. The Wings are from FW-190D9_GrSt_JG51 of Pt.1 You might get away with others, but them bottom part of the fuselage intersects with the wing textures and will cause discoloration if you choose different colored wings. Base color must be grey RLM75
  22. Incidentally, started lookin into fixing things i either found were wrong or i didnt like as much, parallel to starting the cockpit rework.. The latter is going to take some time as i need to see what is where etc... time consuming. Also ref has to gathered. So atm its just boring work. I gave the air scoop another go with the welding seam... its horrid UVW´s are skewed and overlapping... Not too sure if i wanna keep it.. Also fixed the rivets on the normal. Due the generation process all rivets turned out round. I noticed this prior, but simply forgot to fix this in the process... So i capped them. Theyre not that pronounced anymore. Nice flat rivets, like on the real deal. Im gonna try to fix more things and see that i can do a revised version of the dora´s so far, as theres inaccuracies now that i got more ref...
  23. Huh?? The SG10 ones are on my drive and were downloaded already? Just checked. File and link is all there. It´s 6./SG.10 tho. Made a mistake with the Sqn.
