  1. You got part of M and C wrong. M names are given to AWACS as well. The Mainstay for example. C is strictly cargo. I also recall some maritime aircraft given bomber designations as well, though this is likely because of dual-use or a varient of an exsisting bomber.
  2. [Fat.Bastard] Get in mah bellah! [/Fat.Bastard]
  3. RWR: The Russians have an SPO-series Radar Warning Reciever, its the thing in the lower right with a top-down picture of a MiG-21. The SPO gives you a signal strength indication on your primary threat. It's the half-circle of lights around the MiG-21 image, inside the bearing lights circle. The more of the signal strength lights are lit, the closer the target is. This is only good for rough guesstimates of range, but if you get an eye for it, it can be good enough for a HoJ shot. I dont have an eye for it, though, so dont ask me for any range finding pointers.
  4. Gasoline and kerosene are recognized 'emergency fuels' for jet aircraft, although leaded avgas will destroy the turbine stators if used continuously (heat and dissimilar metals causes FAST corrosion). I think I heard somewhere that the Su-25 can run on diesel in a pinch, but dont quote me on it.
  5. FARPs (Forward Arming and Refueling Point) are typically only associated with helicopters. And in the real world, if an airplane lands at a base they typically end their sortie and have new weapons hung while planning is going on for the next. Thats not to say the idea changing armament in-game isn't a bad idea. Would actually be pretty useful.
  6. That 'bat wing' was an actual plane based on the Horten Brothers' work, called the Go-229, built by Gotha. Prototypes were built, but none went into active service. There is supposedly one dissassembled in a museum somewhere with plans to put it together, but if it's a museum doing it, I doubt it will ever fly.
  7. Right click on the profiler icon on your task bar. Select 'Control Panel' Check your throttle response on the first screen that comes up. If it's hitting full forward before the throttle is physically that far, go to the 'deadzone' tab and play around with the settings in there. I've never had to do this, but I found that I can reproduce that problem if the deadzone tab is set wrong. EDIT: While you're in there, go ahead and adjust the LCD and LED brightness settings if that blue light is getting on your nerves. You can turn all the lights off through there if you want. Useful for me because all that blue in that shade gives me headaches sometimes.
  8. Might be stupid to ask, but does anyone know if the Berkut has tried that?
  9. It's control system is only capable of turning the missile on one axis. So in order to allow the missile to home in on target, it spins. Think of it as a plane with only elevators. It can only control pitch. If said plane constantly rolled, those elevators could control pitch one moment, yaw the next.
  10. Assuming that wire is rigged for the direction you're landing... Saw a Canadian bird rip the barrier wire out last week because he caught it the wrong way... Tore a hole in his aircraft when the cable whipped, and tossed a piece of steel some 700' to be imbedded in the wall of a building off the airfield proper.
  11. Billing address is the address that the credit card company or bank sends the card-holder's statements to. Most systems use parts of that address for verification purposes.
  12. Got the CD preordered.... But as soon as Uncle Sucker pays me friday I'm DLing this. (Yes, I'm VERY impatient)
  13. Then you get a loud BANG and flames shooting out both ends. And the firetrucks rolling and the airplane's owner wanting to strangle you because he thinks you just tried to blow his plane up (or, atleast thats in the civie world anyways. And this isn't from personal experience, I swear! Really!)
  14. The one with the lines seems to be referencing something to compass directions. Looks almost like a nav-aid signal plot, but that would very from transmitter to transmitter, not likely something bolted to the frame of a jet.
  15. Can they? Sure. Would they? Likely not. From what I understand, it's a massive headache processing foreign checks. Tis why alot of travellers use credit cards and travelers checks.
  16. About $50 for me to get it...and worth every penny! :D
  17. I'm just going by my likely reaction to having such a nice 'toy', then being told I cant play with it no more... My associated minimun safe distance: 25m
  18. Does this 'reaction' have an associated minimum safe distance?
  19. Ok...was that an in-game shot, or a snapshot from a Flanker's cockpit...because I honestly cant tell. (And that would be a good thing!)
  20. Yup. Only 3 and 9 are wired to launch a mav. Now, I'd bet that for transport purposes, they could load the other TER capable mounts with mavs. But they would not be able to fire them.
  21. Read Shepski's post. A-10 can only mount Mav's on stations three and nine in the real world, and they are mounted two to a TER. Now, in game, that gets thrown out the window un-modded. EDIT: God, my typing sucks today...
  22. This is from some Manufacturer's propaganda I saw a long time ago: B version was the standard-issue Apache prior to the Longbow. Laser guided Hellfires only C version would of been the Longbow minus the radar. (although it could of been field-modded into a D easily) Laserguided Hellfires for self-guidance. RF hellfires using the buddy system with a D-model D version is the radar equipped Longbow, Selfguiding laser and RF Hellfires
  23. For the three maverick problem, it's because the third maverick on the inside rack of the TER would expose the landing gear tire to some rather nasty exhaust gasses...And nobody wants to land a plane on a blown tire. As for the Mx-20? No clue.
  24. Ok, I might be talking from my rectal area in saying this, as I'm going on stuff I've learned from being a general purpose information sponge. But, these certificates are an encryption means, and encryption is considered a 'munition' by alot of countries, and thus a no-no for export. So, maybe poor ED here cant get find a Russian CA, and legally cant use one from anywhere else. Another possibility is it is a legit CA, but explorer doesn't recognize it for some reason. (which means I heard wrong about 'Snake Oil' being a default name) Again, I'm just going by bits and pieces of stuff I've picked up, so I might just be spouting total BS here. EDIT: Used the wrong word somewheres EDIT2: Ok. so Snake Oil was mentioned in THIS thread...god, I really need to stop posting before bed time
  25. Hopefully this Friday (when I get PAID) they'll have this all nice and sorted out, and I can order me a nice new piece of software to play with. Otherwise I'll be forced to vegitate playing Matrix Online this weekend, and noone wants that, really.
