Share your Tobii Eyetracker 5 DCS settings
Sorata replied to Rhinozherous's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Got track IR and use that but had a tobii for years and never installed it till today, just saw a tobii updated a few hours ago they added a new feature for DCS. https://help.tobii.com/hc/en-us/articles/18337540780049-Camera-Boost-beta- Seems like a good idea, Now if only DCS worked with my tobii. There is no enable button and though the eye tracker and all works in setup and I can even preview the eyetracking it doesnt work in DCS at all even after pointing it to the exe file. EDIT: finally works now. got it after rebooting and playing other tobii enabled games first then it started to work on its own but disabled some keyboard buttons. Alt tab in and out of the game and now it works fine. Liking the boots feature tobii added but if enabled it auto disables eye tracking. I am using the tobii profile LasselLEK posted above and it works just as well as my track IR. will likely attach the track IR to my simpit as I have a mount made that attaches it to the Winwing MFD I got off etsy and a DCS forum user (ToolShop3D, cant remeber his forum name) and will keep the Tobii on my main PC monitor for use with other games and quick DCS sessions till I determine which will be permanent to DCS. EDIT: Stupid tobii anytime I reboot my PC I have to uninstall and reinstall the tobii experience program or the tobii wont work. I can verify in device manager though the device is good and has power and current drivers. It just stays lights off and not detected in the app unless I uninstall and reinstall. Tobii apps suck. -
Love this mod. Been trying the mission editor with the F/A-18E vs SU-30SM at merge distance with similar loadout (10 Fox 3 and 2 Fox 2) and so far under AI control the Super Hornet is 4 wins 0 loses. Maybe it helps they are both set to veteran and the Hornet is using the Topgun Maverick Skin Was not till I extended the range to nearly the edge of the Aim 9 envelope that the SU-30SM finally won 1 match but lost 9.

Dont get the Next Level Racing Flight Pro Set

Another issue is the direction and provided hardware for installation of step 21 the center HOTAS mount for extended controls is incorrect. The screws are way too short to install per instructions. The only way to install is to buy longer screws. You can see this in their own youtube install video where they clearly swap them out for ones they dont give you at 6:06 to 6:08. Very clearly they lied. So without buying more stiff you cant use that mount. I am curious how corbu1 mounted his as the provided parts and instructions dont work. I should also point out the company ghosted me but did contact me on youtube when I pointed out issues with instructions etc and asked me to contact them but again when I do they ghost me and the guys who were supposed to get back with me (Cameron and Matt) months ago still wont reply. Pretty shady company when it comes to this product yet their other product lines seem fine which makes me wonder if they contacted this out to a sub company? EDIT: I need to find time to make a video of the damages, install issues, poor QC etc and post it on youtube with copies of all the emails they did send and I sent to help others make an informed decision in case they end up like me with no forewarning. -
As the topic states I am missing a nut to the finger lift optional detent in my finger lift kit. Does anyone know the size of the square nut that is used so I can try to find one online to buy. Not even gonna bother with Winwing CS as they never got back to me months ago for another issue I fixed myself.

Dont get the Next Level Racing Flight Pro Set

And now they are blowing me off. They sent an invoice email saying my order is complete and haven't responded to my emails about the replacement being damaged. Guess I am on my own now since it seems their shipping department is so horrible they cant ship things right. I still cant believe they put such a heavy box inside that big a box with enough room to shift and damage the product not once but twice. They really shouldn't ship that hollow stand where it can slip over and be crushed with a hundred pound loose inner accessory box to bounce around against it. I will wait a few more days to see if they want it shipped back or if they have truly ghosted me or are just that bad at responding before I take the two broken stands and try to have a machine shop rebend and cut the two up to try to make one working stand out of them. May see if I can get measurements and find someone with the right app and a 3D printer to make the broken plastic parts and go to Lowes an hour from my home and see if I can find the right missing nuts and bolts. -

Finally got a friend over so we could team lift the boxes and remove the contents without having to cut the outer box away. Again the same parts on the Flight Stand where damaged and this time it is clearly due to how NLR packaged it. The contact I have at NLR over this whole incident doesnt even know they already sent this one as they still havent told him so I am gonna email him and update him, seems they have communication issues. Its also clear this is damage by their factory and shipping department not Fedex and UPS. It seems they again didnt even install all the bolts and simply laid the metal frame loosely in this bubble wrap on top on an interior box that cause the damage. FYI the frame is large enough it can fit over the edges of the very heavy interior box which lets the interior box shift and crush it. They clearly need to secure the interior accessory box to the center of the package or put some type of divider on top of the interior box so the frame cant slid over the heavy box and get hurt. -

Been over a month now since original order was placed right after this products announcement. Been a week since they sent me a unprompted reply (last time I had to email them first) that they were letting me know they have not forgotten me and had put in an urgent request for update on my case....a week ago.... Doesn't seem too urgent. EDIT: Well updating me must not be important. Never told me its shipped or gave me tracking. I started to go out the door to work and bumped into the FedEx driver trying to drop off a new chair and table set by himself on a clearly labeled two man lift. Packages where banged a bit from wrong handling again but no where as bad as last time. The box to the flight stand pro is warped and bulged on one side and they had clearly dropped it again on that side as I came out the door off the end of the truck so hopefully when I get back home to check it its not damaged again. They changed shipper from UPS to FedEx this time I guess hoping that helped but clearly both companies don't read labels and are trying to push volume out the door and don't care about damage as this was a FedEx contractor under them not a direct FedEx employee. -
Orion2 Throttle Base 10th Anniversary Limited Version
Sorata replied to Airtrainpat's topic in Winwing
According to winwing they wont sell the switches so it'd be something you'd have to do. Don't have experience with it but I do know that some people 3d print switch covers and simply slide those on top of the existing ones with different shapes to use in VR, often saw those on etsy. I just got two of the limited editions in today to add to my simpit but cant look at them till I get off work ;( EDIT: Finally got off to look at mine well and seeing what they did, they are very nice switches but nothing other than that and the limited edition plate (mine is number 54 and 58) are different than the standard Orion 2. I don't see why you couldn't change them yourself if your ok with messing with electronics and can have switches made the appropriate size but that's probably gonna be costly. Winwing very very likely will not sell them as they backed off selling the MFSSB parts separately cause they don't like the idea of having the customer work on certain things but if your willing to take the risk you should be able to. Easiest route would be the 3D printed slip ones that slide onto your existing stiches, I believe I even saw rubber ones on amazon at one point too that may work. -

Yes I did. Took them quite awhile to finally reply to me after I had to jump through hoops. They stated they would get back with me in 1-2 days after getting with management, QC, RnD team and the shipping company about it. Well They didn't so on the fourth day I contacted them and luckily got a reply that day that they where gonna make it right and are "currently working on a solution" but I am still awaiting any further information, instructions on what to do with this one or any tracking information. -
I bought the set when they were announced and they finally arrived this week. NLR never responded to emails sent prior to order with questions, let alone about the account /website error that forced me to order with a guest account as you cant add or remove items to my accounts cart to place the order. Regardless of that I ordered from them based on peoples here opinion of them. Well the set arrived and its an absolute joke of a paper weight. Damage is horrendous on both packages and so bad there is no way this all occurred in shipping. Scrapes to bare metal on parts that are warped in burble wrap that had no signs of damage, missing parts, bent bolts, broken washers, dents, broken plastic fittings and covers warped beams so parts can't sit flat, zip ties that were already sheared or cut prior to arrival and this is on parts that are within another box. I have never received items this damaged and do not suspect all the damage was done by UPS some had to have slipped QC. Preinstalled bolts had actually come out too and the nut to the bolts are missing. NLR isn't replying to my emails for help so I have a 1000 USD + paperweight. Damage is so bad replacement parts cant fix the stand but the chair might could be saved with many replacement parts and paint to patch and prevent rust. The stand is bent and warped so it can flatten where it needs to and even one preinstalled bolt in the chair cant be used/removed as it has no spares in the package and the bolt head is filled with metal and you cant use the allen wrench you supposed to on it. That for sure was a QC oversight they should have seen that prior to powder coat. Some of the damage to the brown exterior box is me ripping it anyway to take photos as the parts sticking out of the interior boxes against the other box made it so I couldn't lift them out and the box is a two man lift anyway and I wasnt gonna hurt myself doing it alone to get the photos. The parts where so loose in the inner boxes that they can move around which caused them to try to rip out of the boxes and the scrapping I dont know how it occured unless at their shop as these parts where sealed in full coverage bubble wrap and still are scratched but the bubble wrap was undamaged.

I need a suggestion for sim rig monitor
Sorata replied to Sorata's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thank you very much! I appreciate the input, I was thinking between a tv and odyssey g9 of some type but thought the 32:9 ratio to be too much, I think I’ll get a Samsung tv as they have a very good sale and a first responder discount I could use. I’ll look through everyone’s suggestions and try to narrow it down and of course need to rearrange the room gonna be tight with my consoles and their tv and my pc setup with the sim put in the middle of the room. -
I had till recently stopped trying to learn DCS as my pc setup was a pain with my controls, chair and table. So I decided to not to change my setup just for DCS but to get a sim rig. By the way a secret lab table though great sucks to attach controls too. So I bit the bullet on the new Next Level Racing Flightsim Pro setup that they just announced and will be using that without changing my main table PC. Really wanted the Boing military edition but for my need the new rig has more options so will likely work better. Now for this rig what’s a good stand alone monitor. I’m still not sold on ultra wide at the moment due to the limited vertical fog. I don’t want to use the monitor on my main pc which is a Asus ROG Swift PG32UQX a 4k 1400HDR monitor. What’s good for DCS in 2k or 4k that a decently big view size I can put on a stand for this rig? Never had a rig so very hesitant on monitor I know a tv would be big but see a lot bout screen tearing so I dropped that idea. Any other details I need to post let me know I wanna keep the budget for the monitor to 1200 or lower and want this only for DCS. Will place it on a next level racing monitor stand and cable it back to main pc when I play.

It will list it as The Channel and Normandy 2.0 if you go in game and look at the module manager. If it Says Normandy 1944 in module manager retry your license.
-
So on steam it list the DLC I own as: "Normandy 2.0 Upgrade" and "Normandy 2 Upgrade from Normandy 1944" in the DLC list. But it doesn't list owning the full priced "Normandy 2.0" which is the actual map and the 14.99 "Normandy 2.0 Upgrade from The Channel" which is expected as I didn't buy that upgrade as I got the 9.99 one for already having the previous two maps. As of some time after 0500 when I went to bed and now just woke up at 1100 hours steam quietly changed my DLC listing to now give me the "Normandy 2.0 Upgrade" and "Normandy 2 Upgrade from Normandy 1944" and "Normandy 2.0" in my DLC list. Seems their purchase system did not attribute the 3rd DLC over like it should have which was the actual Normandy 2.0 map. DLC count on Steam went from 118 to 120 now as well. That is why unticking the map and re-ticking it is redownloading the correct files now despite the massive update yesterday as Steam fixed our DLC count and licenses it seems. Testing now to see if it works correct now in Steam and Standalone. EDIT: If you go to reacquire licenses in your profile it will now add a new correct Normandy 2.0 license it didn't before Steam did their correction. It indeed works now in both versions. I already had a Normandy 2.0 License in my list that represented the old map and had my old purchase date this was actually them just renaming the 1944 pack and is still the old set not the new one as if you look it will show your old purchase date. On the License view page if you go to see all DCS Normandy 2.0 is the old 1944 purchase and DCS Normandy 2.0 Map which should have a newer date is update. But if you got to acquire license they change the names yet again to Normandy 1944 and Normandy 2.0 Map. Seems they cant be consistent with naming. So depending on the page if your checking the licenses then "Normandy 1944" and "Normandy 2.0" is your old license and map just with two names and "Normandy 2.0 Map" is the new one using the same name on both pages. So be sure to reacquire the license!

Glad yours finally worked. tried that with mine and did a full reinstall too and no dice its still not working.
-
I am and its current and update to latest beta version. Seems they messed up the licensing for the upgrades.
-
Mine is only downloading the Low res old version too. I own both the Channel and Normandy 1944 maps and bought the 9.99 upgrade for owning both of them to the new Normandy 2.0 Not sure if it matters but I own every single module released for DCS, on steam and have transferred all them to Standalone so I have them on both versions. In steam in my DLC listing it shows the 9.99USD map upgrade but the DCS standalone is still missing Normandy 2.0 and only shows the old versions. When I check my licenses it show 118 license and one of them is Normandy 2.0 on the license page but it refuses to appear on the module manager and isnt acknowledging the license. EDIT: After a clean reinstall of the standalone version the license appears correct on the license page but isn't transferring in game still. Normandy 2.0 upgrade now appeared for purchase on the stand alone's in game module page for 9.99 when it didn't before even though I already own it when I check steam and the DCS standalones license page. EDIT: So on steam it list the DLC I own as: "Normandy 2.0 Upgrade" and "Normandy 2 Upgrade from Normandy 1944" in the DLC list. But it doesn't list owning the full priced "Normandy 2.0" and the 14.99 "Normandy 2.0 Upgrade from The Channel" kind of wonder if some of the licensing issue isn't also from some files calling it 2 and some 2.0 and not sticking to the same name scheme.

Seeing the same for my 4090 and i9-13900ks, 64GB DDR5 at 6400mhz, free flight no gains at all.
-
Glad to see the 4090 doing so well. I gave up on getting the Strix OC model as its saying sold out. I had it ordered in less than a minute after the sales opened and got a confirmation number then Newegg cancelled it on me so I had to settle for now on a TUF OC 4090. I also have a i9-13900k ordered and a EKWB front and active back waterblock. Should perform the exact same as the Strix from what test I've seen, same PCB only difference is the boost is 0045 lower but they the same performance wise within 1-2 fps, wonder how DCS will take these. After seeing post here I'm optimistic.

That's possible or it could also be due to covid restrictions that they may still be under? Either way it seem few units went out aside from the person who made the profile which only has two downloads now I have yet to see anyone else with one, surprised there are no youtube reviews yet either. The fact they will no longer sell the unit by itself for consumers to install also suggest to me it may be hard to install at the factory too and its possible few techs are available to make it? I will say though it makes flying the F-16 extremely nice. So much so I want another despite the initial issues with mine to setup for my F/A-18 control set. Since trying winwing I ended up getting every F-16 item they have and every F/A-18 item they have for two separate specialized setups. Expensive but I feel it was worth it as it makes the experience so much better and I don't have resources or ability to make 1:1 pits myself. I've spent 3255 this year on winwing and still plan to get the MIP and Heli setups and aside from the initial hiccup with the MFSSB everything with them so far has been stellar prompting me to dump my Thrustmaster Warthog though I kept the throttle for now.
-
Finally got a day off and time to fix the setup (I worked 15 days straight, 12 hour shifts, due to low staff at the PD). Also it helped that a user named flakweazel added the profile a few days ago. It was unflyable till I went into the MFSSB config settings and changed lowered it to 50% by moving the sliders inward thus making it more sensitive to my movements. After that I could fly and lord this thing is awesome! Without doing that even holding the base with one hand and putting a lot of force to move to full extension the most the config showed my stick movements was 43% of 100 and I couldn't move it any further. Seems this thing needs tweaking out the box so expect that and I dont see why they made the settings the way they are cause without you changing the sliders there is no way you can reach the 100 mark. The left right movement is much harder than forward and back on the stick. flys nice but needs work so I see why they wont sell it as a kit now and only preinstalled.
-
Well look what arrived. Works in app but so far can’t get it to work right in game. Had to recalibrate out of the box as you can see the center was way off. First winwing product I’ve had to recalibrate. No profiles available from winwing too. Images before I installed my F-16ex grip. Barely moves in game at all and mostly just in one axis, totally unflyable, will have to wait till profiles are out and I can recalibrate to makes sure it’s not bad or setup wrong. But that will be awhile as I’m working getting prepared for the hurricane.

Ah thanks didnt realize that button was useless pretty much, did a google search on it and its just for recording correct? Thanks I'll use that one.
