No weight details have been released yet, but its important to take into account the full MR version will be the heaviest due to the quality of the cameras, the non MR versions will therefore be less weight, I'm sure in a couple of weeks all details will be public.

No sorry if I confused anyone, ordering hopefully in a couple of weeks we will be able to place our orders with limited numbers of first units shipping first half of june.

I do not think it would be possible to upgrade, but you should be able to configure the exact requirements you need. You may be able to add an Ultra Leap Module yourself like Varjo have done with the XR4. The VR1 hand tracking Ultra Leap solution is built into headset. Talked today about possibility of changing the faceplate, even this was not recommended. Suggest you join us on the Somnium Discord

I do agree with you Quest 3 does provide excellent value, it is all about the marginal gains and the price you are prepared to pay. The original price of the aero is comparable and when you add in Eye Tracking and the High calibre Pass Through cameras I can understand how the unit price is going to move beyond some people's exceptionable limits. Add in the cost of Base Stations as well. Somnium VR1 is not for everyone, we have understood this from the very beginning. I personally held off from purchasing the aero or crystal as I have been tracking this headset from its first appearance. For me the move will be from the HP G2 to the Somnium VR1.

Reservation numbers were only passed out to the first 100 who submitted requests on 5th October 2023.

I think you have provided a good rundown of the talking points. I have just taken delivery of two new Base Stations. Hopefully I will get an opportunity to purchase with my low 38 reservation place.

We will be provided with the final information tomorrow via Discord from CEO.

A fully loaded VR1 is going to be expensive, we all know that, but its been designed to push to the maximum todays available tech. Some excellent vids online from CEO explaining how they arrived at the design. Their Discord channel is very active at the moment. Place on Reservation queue was placed back in Oct.

I have just built a 7800X3D combined with a 4090 for VR G2 DCS, very happy.and no issues.

Thankyou for your answers.

Question for the VR pilots, are you combining this type of device with Pass through cameras ? So you can operate them in VR.
-
Currently I also have a G2, but I am also intending to upgrade v soon. I am keeping a very close eye on Somnium VR1 developments. Check out Somnium Discord for blog updates. Really depends on your Price Point and how long you are prepared to wait.
-
There should be a blog update coming on the status of the Somnium VR1 very soon.
-
Did anyone here place a reservation for the VR1 and receive an email this morning ?

The lens is not glass, but they are not standard plastic, VR1 is being made with help of VRgineers who have experience of High End Military HMD's . MRTV has an interview where CEO Artur discusses this exact point. There is also an active Discord Group and check out Somnium Space for blog updates.

Somnium VR1 is getting close to release, if the specs are true it will put it above Aero and Crystal, this may be a part of the decision made by Varjo as VR1 has some DNA from Vrgineers, a competitor to Varjo's high-end HMDs.
-
Agree will not be a logical upgrade path from the Aero, but for those of us on G2's, it will be great to have another choice alongside Aero and Crystal. With the backing of vrgineers helping this project, I am very hopeful.
-
Keeping a very close eye on this headset, currently using HP G2, more details are expected tomorrow on MRTV.

Please can you consider adding RAF Tarrant Rushton to this map? The airfield played a pivotal role in the capture of Pegasus Bridge.

Agree with all the above comments, thank you to ED for developing and releasing updates to the core engine, MT. VR is always going to be a challenge to performance of both hardware and software. DLSS and FSR technology need to have VR specific branches, otherwise, we will just see more latency introduced. OpenXR Toolkit is a wonderful example of how to gains can be made to VR My hope is that all these small marginal gains can, when added together enhance our experience.

Hi, I currently have a 9900KF G2 and 6900XT running under MT and OpenXR. My objective is to keep 90FPS using OpenXR Toolkit. Really interested to hear from other 9900K users as we wait for 7800X3D as a potential upgrade.

Request help understanding the In Game FPS counter numbers
evanswillo replied to Hoggorm's topic in Virtual Reality
I use the OpenXR Toolkit to help reduce the stress on the CPU (9900KF) I will be honest most of my flying is in low-density theaters with very few assets. -

Yes that Free Flight is FPS heavy.
