@mediocre I works great in the Oculus UI. In DCS not so much. You need multiple attempts usually to flip a switch. Sometimes it is not recognised at all, sometimes you activate something accidentially.

fixed Latest Oculus v63 PTC build crashing DCS when used on Oculus Link
Phantom711 replied to SrSosio's topic in VR Bugs
So…even though I had automatic updates disabled, the Meta PC software updated itself today to v63. My Quest Pro is still on v62 as far as I can tell. It‘s still running via QuestLink (cable) and Oculus set as OpenXR runtime (no SteamVR involved). Only thing I noticed is, that ASW seams to be slower to kick in. Might be wrong though. -
TLDR; Not your fault. Currently a problem between QuestLink and DCS. Will be solved in future DCS update. Workarounds: start DCS via SteamVR or use VirtualDesktop or SteamLink.
-
No. This is not odd. Since with QuestLink you have activated ASW and you don‘t achieve the 72FPS that would equal your HMDs 72Hz refresh rate, it starts to utilise half-rate motion reprojection at ~36FPS. Now since activating ASW has zero effect on VD, this still shows you your actual FPS. VD has an SSW option, which is their motion reprojection method. Only question I have, is why you have „locked“ 60FPS somewhere? If at all, lock it to 72FPS (assuming you are running at 72Hz refresh rate). Interesting read regarding FPS and refresh rate: https://paulbakaus.com/the-illusion-of-motion/

Virtual desktop problem -DCS only launch in "Big Screen" mode.
Phantom711 replied to RedHot's topic in Virtual Reality
At least this part is absolutely detrimental to what you want to achieve. This extension means, that you want to force DCS to run via the OculusAPI (as opposed to OpenXR or SteamVR). And as far as I understand this would only work via MetaLink (Cable or Air). -
Why would one need to take the headset off? The point is, if I press that little monitor symbol on the bar, I then see my desktop in front of me in VR and can interact with it with the mouse or the Quest controllers. @bullgod-mort So you see like an orange oval shape with an exclamation mark?

@bullgod-mort Orange screen? And there is no bar with icons at the bottom?

It‘s worth mentioning, that there is currently a problem with Oculus and DCS. So of you made it that far, that you can see your desktop in your headset and DCS crashes during startup, don‘t worry…it‘s not you. Just come back here and we can talk about alternative ways to get it to work.
-
As Sebastian already mentioned, your Quest is not a Windows Mixed Reality headset, that‘s why you will not get this and also this App is completely useless to you. What you need to do: when you are in your headset environment, you need to start Quest Link. (You can click on the little clock on the left of the grey bar and then you will find it. Don‘t worry that it says „Rift S“). Then you will find yourself in some grey environment. Now click on the little monitor symbol on the bar. You can now see your desktop and can start DCS.

Steam DCS läuft aktuell nicht mit Oculus 3
Phantom711 replied to Experimental_J73's topic in Deutsch

NIE. WIEDER! Vielleicht sogar nochmal ein DCS repair danach machen. In 2D sollte DCS ja in jedem Fall starten.

@Experimental_J73 Benutzt Du denn SteamLink? -

Phantom711 replied to Experimental_J73's topic in Deutsch
Apples and peaches man… It‘s not jaggies at some edges that are flickering. Now I don‘t know how old you are, but imagine looking at an old monitor or TV when they were still tubes…that‘s the kind of flickering the Reverb suffers from at 60Hz.

Recheck if you have the audio device set correctly in DCS and SteamVR. At least I would think that there is also such an option in SteamVR.

My suspicion is, that you ran at 120Hz at that time. Now most likely your PC just can‘t manage to get 120FPS so motion reprojection kicks in at half rate (60 FPS). When you activate SSAO your PC can‘t even deliver the 60 FPS and MR reverts to quarter-rate (30FPS). Yes…because you never managed to get 120FPS in the first place maybe. It all depends on the map and scenario, but I would say highest res and 120Hz is a bit bold for a 3080. I don‘t know, what exactly they do from a technical perspective, but most people probably agree that you should go with OpenXR. Maybe also consider getting the Link Cable. And I would strongly recommend to use the 72Hz mode, since 72 FPS are easier to achieve. (I have a 4090 and a Quest Pro and still use 72Hz)
-
Now as always, in that discussion FPS and refresh rate get mixed up or are sometimes being used synonymous to each other. Even though there is a relation between them, they are not the same. The OP is on the right track though. As a reference, I had the Reverb G2 and have a Quest Pro now. I doubt it. I guess you mean 72Hz with motion reprojection kicking in? The whole idea behind MR is to still show you 72 FPS (while running at 72Hz), it‘s just that every second frame is artificially created by the the GPU. It basically makes it up to the best of it‘s knowledge. I really don‘t want to pick on you, so don‘t take it as an offense. It seems, you have never had a Reverb and hence you don‘t know the flickering the OP is talking about. It‘s not about stuttering or MR artefacts. I found the game to run very smooth on the Reverb (G2) at 60Hz/60FPS but the srcreens are literally flickering especially at brighter areas (i.e. clouds) in your peripheral vision. I suspect, that this is purely a result of the frame being shown for too short and the blackout time in between frames being too long. Long story short: I use the 72Hz mode with my Quest Pro and I am very happy with it. There is no such flickering as in the Reverb. It‘s funny, how the companies mostly advertise their high refresh rates when the aim, at least for us simmers should rather be the lowest refresh rate that provides smooth gameplay. 60Hz/60FPS would probably be sufficient.
