Win10 will remain supported by MS until Oct 2025. I don‘t think you will run into hardware issues with Win10 really.

F18 Hornet JDAM Ripple Release using Target of Opportunity
Phantom711 replied to F16wannabe's topic in Missions and Campaigns
Technically yes, but you would need to be relatively quick, since you nee to switch to TOO2 for each station. Might be doable though if you fly high and not too fast. Ripple TOO1 at max range and then switch to TOO2 and ripple again while hopefully not be at min range yet. -

Probably the first video on this, that gets this right. Well done. -
Going to do this (VR) - appreciate help...
Phantom711 replied to Keith Briscoe's topic in Virtual Reality
No. You need „Windows Mixed Reality“ as the „plattform“ to run VR with a Reverb G2. Don‘t bother with SteamVR! Back in the days…so more than a year ago, maybe more…one had to run DCS through WMR and SteamVR, but then DCS started to support OpenXR which made that detour obsolete. -
If you are using the DCS.exe from the bin-mt folder, it is not necessary, since OpenXR is the default for that anyways. Just make sure you have OpenXR selected as your active runtime in the „OpenXR tools for Windows Mixed Reality“. (A piece of software from the microsoft store. Not to be confused with the „OpenXR toolkit companion“ that you are most likely referring to.)

@jungleboy123 1. As you might have noticed, only one program at a time (i.e. VD, Oculus, SteamVR) can be the OpenXR runtime. So you have to go into the settings of the respective program and select it as the active OpenXR runtime. To save you from the hassle there are tools like XR-picker, which let you select that from outside the respective software. https://github.com/rpavlik/xr-picker/releases 2. As mentioned…did you have SteamVR selected as your OpenXR runtime?

Open. Your. Eyes. Go down by 2 lines! Take the „Throttle Designator Controller - Horizontal axis/vertical axis“ and assign axis to your liking.

What settings to turn down to increase frame rate in VR
Phantom711 replied to Flogger23m's topic in Virtual Reality
What are your settings in the Meta Software? Did you touch the PD settings in DCS under the VR tab? -
Hmm…die Gegend sieht halt aus, wie sie aussieht. Wie soll ED das jetzt ändern? Und wie Du das jetzt aus einem(!) Trailer so definitiv feststellen kannst, ist auch…interessant.

fixed Latest Oculus v63 PTC build crashing DCS when used on Oculus Link

Yeah…to me going via SteamVR is actually even unplayable. So it definitely has some performance impact. -

@Tweety777 No. This one. The one that‘s on top. -

There is a deficated sticky on that topic here in the VR forum. Short answer is „No, but there are workarounds“ -
fixed Latest Oculus v63 PTC build crashing DCS when used on Oculus Link
Phantom711 replied to SrSosio's topic in VR Bugs
@Picchio Well yes…the common understanding is, that the problems started with v63 of the PC App, regardless of the HMD software. I have both on v63 now. -
fixed Latest Oculus v63 PTC build crashing DCS when used on Oculus Link
Phantom711 replied to SrSosio's topic in VR Bugs
Even though a fix to this problem doesn‘t seem to be too far on the horizon and there are several workarounds available, I am still wondering, why some people (including me) seem not to be affected by the problem at all while the majority is. I don‘t want to brag about it but rather figure out, which of my settings it is, that I can still run QuestLink (cable) on v63 with OpenXR without problems. First I thought, it might be the fact that I have a Quest Pro as opposed to a Q3 which most people have, but this in itself seems not to be the case. BUT: Quest Pro users are certainly more prone to have the „Developer mode“ enabled because this is the only way to have eye-tracking in DCS (QVFR). @Qcumber @minimi66 So please chime in! Those of you that use developers mode, can you still run QuestLink with OpenXR without any workarounds? And of course also those of you that run a QP and have the problem, can you confirm, that you don‘t use developers mode? I might be wrong of course…it‘s just a guess. -

@mediocre I works great in the Oculus UI. In DCS not so much. You need multiple attempts usually to flip a switch. Sometimes it is not recognised at all, sometimes you activate something accidentially.

fixed Latest Oculus v63 PTC build crashing DCS when used on Oculus Link
Phantom711 replied to SrSosio's topic in VR Bugs
So…even though I had automatic updates disabled, the Meta PC software updated itself today to v63. My Quest Pro is still on v62 as far as I can tell. It‘s still running via QuestLink (cable) and Oculus set as OpenXR runtime (no SteamVR involved). Only thing I noticed is, that ASW seams to be slower to kick in. Might be wrong though. -
TLDR; Not your fault. Currently a problem between QuestLink and DCS. Will be solved in future DCS update. Workarounds: start DCS via SteamVR or use VirtualDesktop or SteamLink.
-
No. This is not odd. Since with QuestLink you have activated ASW and you don‘t achieve the 72FPS that would equal your HMDs 72Hz refresh rate, it starts to utilise half-rate motion reprojection at ~36FPS. Now since activating ASW has zero effect on VD, this still shows you your actual FPS. VD has an SSW option, which is their motion reprojection method. Only question I have, is why you have „locked“ 60FPS somewhere? If at all, lock it to 72FPS (assuming you are running at 72Hz refresh rate). Interesting read regarding FPS and refresh rate: https://paulbakaus.com/the-illusion-of-motion/
