  1. The AIM-9's seem to default to uncaged. If you hit the cage/uncage button, you recage the missile seeker. It's the opposite of the F-16, so it's easy to use the wrong muscle memory.
  2. yes, but the whole point of the kneeboard is that you don't
  3. I'm thinking of the Hornet and the Viper, since those are the 2 that would be applicable to what I have, but I didn't want to start 2 more threads. I have an X56 and the 2 knobs on the throttle body are perfect for HUD and HMD brightness. Would be nice if the axis for HMD also did/could also do NVG gain. Yes, the controls are in different places, but they are never used at the same time in our versions of the aircraft.
  4. Most of the carrier info automatically populates, and now, IIRC, 9-line stuff gets automatically added to the kneeboard. Would be awesome if Marshalling info got added automatically, as well. Specifically, Case III stuff. TIA
  5. They broke their own damn liveries with that update.
  6. That's what I mean. It used to work fine.
  7. I figured, but I wasn't commenting on update speed. I was commenting more on Viper vs Hornet and how much more info we get in the Hornet and how it gets displayed.
  8. In other words, they've made no changes to the external model so the animations shouldn't be nerfed, yeah?
  9. Allow servers to whitelist certain files by MD5 sum or similar means. Because Taz's dot, glass, and NVG mods are basically a necessity at this point. Ooh, that's a good one!
  10. They have been working on TGP models other than the current one, no? The current pod model is neither the LANTIRN nor the Sniper, right?
  11. ED can really learn from the Arma team at BI. Which if you know how glitchy and clunky Arma games can be, is really saying a lot. But they've had the details of things like modularity of different facets and THE NIGHT SKY AND NIGHT VISION squared away for over 20 years. Like, ED has been tweaking the RWR so the T Pod stopped working? Did a cat walk over someone's keyboard?
  12. You pretty much have to turn off wake turbulence. For carrier landings too. After that, it's not so bad. For me, the boom refueling has gotten fairly easy compared to hose and drogue. Even with turbulence off; which seems to effect hose and drogue refueling more than boom and receiver. Focus on the yellow line and the director lights. DO NOT look at the boom.
  13. What's the hold up, how could animations that used to work fine be so glitched after 0 apparent changes to the external model?
  14. It works with Tankers and their TACAN. It just makes it so hostiles disregard them.
  15. Tankers seem to have a way of doing that. Like it's a stealth tanker, lol. And how much should we really seeing on the data link? It seems we have quite the paucity of info. Did it not get better till after the F-16 we're supposed to have?
  16. I usually have good results with a MiG-21 or 23. They are fast, but they don't turn anywhere near as hard. F-5 is a fun cat and mouse game if you want something more challenging. The F-5 will try to get you into a low and slow turning battle and you have to not fall for it when you're in an F-16. It really emphasizes learning to use your 2 circle advantage. And if all else fails, you can just out climb him.
  17. I also noticed that when trying to boresight Mavericks on the ground (for which you really have to have arm and ground jettison on and then it doesn't work very well anyway), pressing SP on the TGP doesn't center the TGP ahead and down. IDK where it goes, but it's not where it should. And the proper TGP animations are non existent for all animations. Putting the TGP into LST mode used to make it do such a cute little wiggle in its little face. Still does on the Hornet. And god help you trying to use Mavericks with GMT radar. Especially without the pod.
  18. Pay attention to whether or not you get another "return pre contact" in the middle of trying to refuel. You may have to tell them "ready precontact" again to get him to put his probe in your hole (huh huh). I have had this problem with hose and drogue too. The probe would clip right through the drogue unless I hit "ready..." again. I recommend binding it to hotas if you can because when you drift backward enough - and it's not much - you get "return pre contact". Ps: I also noticed that once you get the boom connected the first time, it's easier to get it connected subsequent times when you disconnect by accident. After that, it's just practice practice practice. 250KIAS at 20,000' is a good practice setup in the mission editor. Orbit is fine. Or race track. Remember that you have to put the speed in as ground speed in the waypoint, which means you have to look up conversion .
  19. Lol I believe the book Viper Pilot mentioned a RAT after an engine failure (lightly exploded) during a shakedown flight. It was also and Egyptian F-16, so who knows. As I stated, maybe it's just for export customers who don't want to deal with hydrazine.
  20. Even loaded, you accelerate so fast, it's almost worth it to just start pulling back a little at 150. As long as you don't pull more than 13 degrees and scrape the tail, you're fine. Unless you're going for some kind of max performance climb, just bring the nose up to around 10 or so degrees and you take off just fine. YMMV without afterburner.
  21. Shouldn't there be a ram air turbine somewhere for when we lose all power? Is that a custom thing for countries that didn't want to deal with hydrazine? I thought the hydrazine just restarted the engine, and the RAT is for when that wasn't an option/didn't work. Right now, without engine, we have nothing. If I'm off, tell me where and wrong and lock the topic and let it die.
  22. Surprised they haven't integrated the mods into the game, at this point. The dots and glass are soooooo much better. Don't fly with NV much because even at night, vanilla night vision is just garbage. Like, there's no way Gen 3+ night vision is so useless. They flew resupply on moonless nights with that stuff in Afghanistan so the choppers wouldn't be as vulnerable. So the US military from around the timeframe of our Viper and Hornet was flying helos through mountains on moonless nights. You must be able to see something with them other than just green snow. I could see ED implementing a system that is timeframe or aircraft based. Someone who said they flew choppers in Nam told me that when they got night vision, it was basically like flying looking through spray-painted green cellophane. But 2000's and on? It's much much clearer. And not as narrow a field of view, depending on device used.
  23. Yup. It sucks because now even PVE servers that have IC on, but don't require pure texture/models/whatever refuse connection. I'm just using your glass, NVG, and dot mod. It seems they went out of their way to do this, unless there's some cheat that's been going on that changes shaders. Would be cool if there was a whitelist with MD5 sums that servers could use. Or something like that. If I were taz, I'd feel attacked.
