Deka Simulations announces the DCS: J-8II for DCS World!
FlankerFan35 replied to Mike_Romeo's topic in DCS: J-8II
Well, that wouldn't be very useful as nothing can carry the 77-1 currently except perhaps the 29S. As I always say, China is Red's future when it comes to modern, they develop faster at more advanced levels so it's more likely for us to get a J-10A/B for example than any Russia tech that isn't prehistoric. -
DCS crashing when incoming missile hits

Still getting this bug, but only when being teamkilled by 120C -
I really hope they do something with it, quite a sad state its in rn

Could be true as this image is a later variant. -
Looks like on diagram that only mid/outer pylons can carry PL-8? and inner PL-5. I wonder why no PL-8 in inner on J-8PP.

I'm personally extremely excited for this project, and for all those feeling disappointed about American avionics and it's not Chinese enough and yadda yadda, consider that Deka has said in the past they wanted to make J-11 and were testing stuff internally with MKK etc. I'm sure a group who started a Dev team based on Chinese aviation is more excited than any of us about bringing fully Chinese aircraft to DCS (probably why they started Deka company in the first place) and more disappointed than we are when they can't bring something fully Chinese to DCS. They've done great work in the past and I'm positive this project will be interesting as well as looking forward to what they get their hands on in the future! So, let's not be too hard on them I'm sure they've done their best to find an aircraft like the J-8 which is quite unique and also Chinese. Better J-8PP then in jail and no more Deka modules ever, right? plus time may reveal new opportunities Cheers Deka, we believe in you!

Deka Simulations announces the DCS: J-8II for DCS World!

This is a later model but it's likely we'll get this number of tanks; this leaves room for two PL-11 and two PL-8 or four PL-8 in a typical air-to-air load I believe. The J-8 we get will be very lackluster in air to ground as this was not its mission. -

I believe there should be 3HP per wing and some belly points for tanks/bombs -

J-8II represents the drastic redesign of some features of the J-8 that distinguish it from J-8I. Here is the J-8I Finback-A airframe. And here is the J-8II Finback-B airframe, this picture is actually of one of the J-8IIs that vistied the US for the Peace Pearl (PP) Program. So to clarify, the J-8PP isn't truly a separate variant from the J-8II but a modified J-8II. The J-8B, 8PP, B Block 2, 8C, 8D, 8F, 8H, JZ-8F, F-8B and F-8IIM all belong to the J-8II family line . The J-8PP we are getting represents an early J-8II model with later models getting newer radars and weapons such as the PL-12 or reconnaissance equipment. Hopefully this helps clear things up for you and others As a sidenote, I'm hoping the AI variant gets PL-12s -

Do you think we'll ever see a PL-12 capable variant. -
Wishlist for potential planes after JF-17

Fed up would be a more accurate description tbh. You could also try addressing my point too -

I wish Devs didnt always have to make modules (even red ones) based on what ignorant bluefor fans would buy. EDIT: I also happen to be a die-hard redfor fan from the west who would like something red gen 4 no matter how obscure and stuff like the J-10 are iconic in these circles similar to what a blufor fan may think of F-16. On another note though, now that J-10As are all being upgraded to J-10AG with AESA radar etc maybe we have a chance for earlier batch J-10A. -
A listing of all variants of J-7 and J-8.

And you're entitled to want that but as I'm not a masochist I would like something I can derive pleasure from rather than pain -

It would lose to nearly everything in bfm. -

a J-8D/F with option for PL-11 and PL-12 would b even cooler! -
Deka we haven't heard from you much.

We'll never get a J-10 ik that, as for the 1968 date, I've looked at every aircraft that was made/introduced in that year by China and not one is compelling. H-6, useless in DCS. Q-5, just a worse version of the 19P which we have. Early J-7, worse version of the 21 which we have. Early J-8 makes the early MiG-23 variants look like the F-22 in comparison. I understand Deka is tired of modeling MFDs and wants to do something more analog but there are a lot of WAY BETTER choices between 1968 and the J-10A than early Q-5, J-7, J-8s :). I'm also biased and want something red gen 4 or something that can fight alongside gen 4 aircraft, hell, even a J-8D/F would do. -

Or they could do a J-10B and reuse 95% of the cockpit layout and systems as they are crazily similar. -
Here are some shots from the Razbam discord. "The S model is already finished and animated some modifications should be done to the cockpit still but so far it is on the backburner" is the quote.
-
A J-8 would be able to compete depending on model but only in BVR and never in BFM, early variants only carried 2-4 PL-2 (9B counterpart). J-8B Later could get the PL-11 and PL-5B (9D/G) or even the PL-8B (Python-3, 9M) which is all-aspect. Any later than that and we enter PL-12 territory. I would imagine the PL-11 would be somewhere between the 7E and 7F as China has claimed the PL-11 was improved from MK.1 Aspides.
-
Could be a Q-5, I'm hoping for a J-7IG or F-7A given this date. The J-7I was the improvement of earlier J-7, with production starting in March 1969 after the order was formally placed on August 25, 1968. A J-7I series build won't be anything spectacular but blows any Q-5 away.

I just wish there was documentation to read on it.

I just want to know exactly when to do what when and not guess. Theres an auto loft function?
