  1. Were you using your speed brakes during the approach? Your landing speed is much closer to 120 kts when you deploy about 30 degrees of "barn door". :smartass:
  2. You have to slew the cursor down to near the bottom of the windscreen in order for your DESIGNATE command to work. That tripped me up several times before I figured it out.
  3. I was getting checked out the other day and on takeoff my right engine failed - went from full to idle and put me in the grass. I hopped into another jet and was able to takeoff (whoo hoo!) but two minutes later my RMFCD died. Couldn't have been happier. MY IP was a saint to keep waiting for me to get airborne with a complete jet. My vote, leave failure options up to the pilots. Sometimes it's very inconvenient to more than just you when a plane part goes Tango Uniform.
  4. I definately like on-line better. The ability to coordinate with a human as opposed to hoping the AI will do what you ask without blindly flying into an SA envelope is much more rewarding. Plus, the comraderie.
  5. I read in another thread that this is being addressed in the upcoming beta release.
  6. Damn, nomdeplume, you just answered the biggest question I've had since starting this sim but was too afraid I couldn't ask it properly. Headache solved! I've been flying the first Easy Mission (East Georgia) and the armored column at the end has been giving me fits because I couldn't figure out what to do after I entered the UMT coord's into the CDU. I've been finding the column on occasion, but only by sheer luck (and when I would find it, my wingie would usually be dead due to stoopidity <g>). Now the mystery is solved thanks to you. <bows> The rep machine says I need to spread some love elsewhere before I can give you a point; consider this a poor substitute. Soon as I can I'll zip one your way, guaranteed.
  7. "The problem is your target is only mostly dead."
  8. Thanks, and thanks for the advice!
  9. I can wait. I'm having back surgery Wed. and won't be able to fly for awhile. So, take your time, ED!:smartass:
  10. I saw that too! Quite something.
  11. I have 2 MFDs that I use with A-10C and I love them! No set-up required. I paired them with 2 LCD monitors and exported the MFCDs to them. The immersion factor is wonderful!
  12. I've left my Warthog plugged into a powered USB hub (CyberPower) and after many reboots and shutdowns the throttle is still strong. Had it since Nov. 9.
  13. I mapped the Center and Pause TIR functions to my mouse: Buttons 3 and 4, respectively. I unchecked all of the boxes for Precision because I never use it.
  14. Thanks, I used to know that...I think. :)
  15. Spambot. How do you report a post here?
  16. A squadron-mate has this problem sometimes when we fly together. We fly a mission he created and he hosts. It never happens to me (8800GT). I'm not sure what video card he has.
  17. Very enjoyable. I could see when your fate was sealed, but it was a gutsy move and I can't say I would have done otherwise. One question: the AI voice kept calling the next section a "waypoint" instead of a "steerpoint" and you were in Steerpoint mode. Is this a known discrepancy within these missions?
  18. Best wishes to the whole team. May 2011 bring you joy and success beyond your expectations.
  19. Be warned! This sim is the road to ruin. Look at all of the accessories in my sig; except for the TrackIR, I've bought everything in the last few months especially for A-10C. It's a time sink, too. I don't fly anything else now (except for an occasional hop in IL-2) and I couldn't care less. The training missions are a blast, landings feel like a real achievement, and the THUNK THUNK of AAA hitting the a/c makes you jump out of your seat. Yes, there are holes right now but I can see past them (I'm the patient type). If you're the same way, get the the beta. If you need a finished project to stay sane, wait a little while. Remember: save some money so you can kit this puppy out!
  20. Win7 32 bit. My mobo is 32 bit only so I'm stuck until I get a new system.
  21. Never mind, kinda. I reduced textures and the main problems are gone. One question remains: where's the debrief screen and stats for the logbook? I laid down some pretty good hits but the feedback from the debrief is very valuable to me.
  22. I can't give you any parameters, but here's a tip: do a gentle 1.5g turn. You'll be able to manage airspeed and altitude very easily. It takes a while to complete, but you'll get through it.
  23. Congratulations! You and the rest of the team have earned a well deserved break. Take a deep breath and bask in the glow of our appreciation. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
  24. Please, please, please, don't ever delete this thread. Ever.
  25. A couple of Squadron-mates and I will be flying our butts off over the next few days and I can only hope all of the great people associated with this wonderful sim have as terrific time as we we will. Family and Friends everyone.
