Problem on Intel 13th & 14th Gen CPUs.
Nightdare replied to Devrim's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Intel's thoughts on the matter: https://community.intel.com/t5/Processors/July-2024-Update-on-Instability-Reports-on-Intel-Core-13th-and/m-p/1617113 I always build my own system and order from reputable shops, but if I wasn't following the YT tech channels I'd not have known about this issue (admitted, I found it here as well) Taking a big community hub: Steam -Their news only allows searches for games they carry We would expect intel to 'heads up' their importers and get in contact with the shops to warn the consumers that they need a bios/microcode upgrade, perhaps even contact big news outlets, instead of everyone having to do their own digging when my bike needed a recall, I got a letter to give me notice from the importer and also a call from the dealer, Intel is doing none of that and, if you ask me, is still hoping most CPU's live out their use/warrantee even without the changes -
Almost looks like DLSS or that other shadow-option (forgot the name SSS?) distortion

The OP was a request for "VR pilots" if they have any tips My tip may not help you, but this thread isn't just about you

Advise on Sim Seat
Nightdare replied to VR Flight Guy in PJ Pants's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
You seem to underestimate the rabid thoroughness of Pit builders an electron scanning microscope won't be precise enough -

So, the store page mentions 700x700km detailed map contents How much is left after this?

Advise on Sim Seat
Nightdare replied to VR Flight Guy in PJ Pants's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I noticed, once you enter center columns territory, you're not at entry level anymore (nor at 'cheap') -
I noticed a lot of folks in 'ergonomic seats' and game seats, which are modeled to resemble carseats These things tend to be made to keep you in position, whereas most fighter seats are straight 'wooden boards with some padding', no shoulder, kidney, or lumbar support, no bucket seating Want more freedom of movement in game seats? Fill up the 'bowl' and straighten the seating out My haptic cushion in my playseat alone (which I selected because it looked a lot shallower than my previous game seat), allows me to 'turn around the shoulder support' better, whereas before I had to lean forward before being able to look backwards (on the seat prior, I had to almost lift myself entirely out of the seat to check my six

I wouldn't call a good feature on a product an "issue", I'd call others' not supporting this feature 'lacking'

So, missing axes and buttons for the Virpil grips That's a "Nope" for me

Problem on Intel 13th & 14th Gen CPUs.

Ask for your money back, Intel states 5.6Ghz max boost clock for your processor You didn't buy a K-CPU to run 12% below factory spec -
Are the Orion2 HOTAS mounting points the same as the TM Warthog?
Nightdare replied to The_Chugster's topic in Winwing
WW is a bit 'behind' (stil showing the Anniversary Orion2 base as selectable, but "always Out of Stock") IMO WW should just do a 'modular buildup' in the buying process, a sort of "If/Then" like PC system builders -Select Setup, in that page start with bases, If [type base] then next page select grips , then next select accessories (rudder, displays, mips, etc.), perhaps even do an 'extras' page with parts/mounts, add any discount to the final price -
Intel can either choose to RMA, or make my next System AMD They SHOULD be aware which batches are affected and inform their customers to RMA them, no if's, but's, or maybe's And a lot of their customers aren't technically inclined enough to perform the task Intel should be doing and have to pay some computer tech to do it for them I'm not seeing any information from intel that they are gonna foot that bill

@Rustbelt How does that feel in real life? -
GTX 1080Ti or RTX 2080Ti. Which to choose?
Nightdare replied to Holbeach's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
If the game still runs fine and fidelity is acceptable: Nothing and save up for a total refresh Because if your system isn't set for a complete overhaul now, you'll be chasing the horizon with outdated 'upgrades' whenever advances are made -

@BuzzU I see the F15 throttle grip is now standard selected when clicking the item (Though it still mentions the 18 metal throttle grip in the product description on the Hotas selection page, but at least people won't be getting the wrong product if they don't pay attention) -
@Aapje Not, 'hugely' expensive, yeah there is quite some complexity, but just a good chunk of cost can be found in the shipping alone It's bigger in volume than 4-5 units of the Orion2+grips+AB detent
-
@Aapje Ah so. Well looking at the previous taurus price, but imagine the FFB upcharge, I think Virpil can stay a good chunk under that price if they keep the Format at roughly the dimensions of the VMAX
-
I think if we get a VMAX FFB throttle, it'll go for 500+ (inc. taxes) Virpil isn't the budget brand And probably the A6 if it gets released Hmm,.. that doesn't sound like a bad idea: 'electric detents', but is that worth the upcharge?
-
@Aapje I wonder for how many modules this would be a useful gimmick, I know the F-14 has auto-throttle, but what else?
-
Yes, but the consumer is not the one to hold responsibility for that, they were promised unlocked CPU's they could tweak to the point of stability at the highest possible settings The throttling limit was there without worries of going to far Now, Intel wants the the CPU's to be clocked down or they will self-destruct? They pulled something resembling the VW emission fraud, but with CPU's
-
I honestly believe de degradation is already present from factory, people overclocking their CPU (which, until this 13/14th gen debacle, couldn't go terminally wrong, unless you screwed around with actual MB modification or Home-brewed bios versions) just speeds up the demise Intel apparently was under the wrong assumption the cause was boardpartners overstepping the limits
-
That might be a point to consider, this was a big thing and I'm guessing Companies/IT departments are pretty swamped getting things working/up to speed again
